Just found this on IGN. CoD Modern Warfare 2 has been confirmed, and I'm assuming it's being developed by Infinity Ward. It has been given a release date of 'Fall 09' with not much info.

So will this be called Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, or just Modern Warfare 2 maybe even Modern Warfare 2: Call of Duty (just to really mess with people's heads)?
God I hate the numbering systems companies use for games. I don't know of a single franchise that hasn't been bastardised in some way by some bizarre spinoff or something which then got its own sequels, blah blah blah. Either go sequentially or don't number any of them!

I prefer the latter, (ie: sequel is called Main Title: Sub-title) like with the Prince of Persia series last gen, and now they've restarted on current gen with just the basic title.
They may as well name it Call of Duty 2010 now that one seems to be released per year.

In a few years, we might have a different definiton of 'Modern'. 
Hurry up military and make lasers and rail guns standard issue.

^ mm thats a good point, modern is always changing, Although I cant see any changes too huge happening in the next 10ish years so i think infinity ward is safe

Right and Wrong, It seems all FPS use old guns e.g. Ak-47 , Drugnov ect
( Unless its lasers pew pew ) , i saw like a year back a documentary on modern weapon technology and they were showing new types of artillery , Amazing and unbelievable snipers that get perfect shots for bloody miles and miles.
I dont see the good old rifle or Machine gun changing much but who knows?
The problem right now that USA only wants to pick fights with 3rd / developing country so we dont get to see much of the new.
But im sure new weapons will come but then again these weapons will play out very very imba ( google it ) so i dont think it would work out.
If you have read this you have just wasted 25 seconds of your life that you will never get back.
Edit: As for names , Its going to be called " Call of Duty : Modern warfare 2 " Just as " Call of duty : World at war "
Then Call of duty 5 will come out.
( This is just my perspective )
Btw anyone notice it doesnt say " Call of duty 5 : World at war " unlike " Call of duty 4 : Modern warfare "
