for people who are getting no sound through HDMI, here is what to do:
while the 360 is booting, hold Y and RT until it fully boots. This will reboot the 360, and sound will be fixed. You will also not lose any system settings.

What would be a good thing if they could do it with the avatars. Would be have special outfits for some of the bigger name games. Maybe special Gears of war or Halo shirt and pants. Or even for the massive games like this have a Gears or Halo uniforms like they wear in the games. I think it would be cool having your avatar wearing a Halo suit, and maybe with out the helment so you are seen as the mystery man behind the mask. I guess kinda like LBP does with some of there ones.

Pros:
No logner pauses or locks up if you have a large amount of games/achivments and you run through them quickly
Some games have had load time cut by up to half.
Cons:
Old dashboard was simpler, cleaner and easier to navigate
My themes are now ugly and obscured
Lot's of erros trying to access marketplace content
Installs are impractical for those who own 20GB PRO 360s
Some games are slower when installed (Halo3 and Naruto Rise of a Ninja so far, don't be suprised if there are more.)

An option to remove more than just the welcome bit would be nice as i have absolutely no need for the spotlight section and find it quite annoying to see it everytime. _________________

I wonder why some games are slower when copied to HDD?
I've done it to Fable 2 and I'm glad it's worked out well for that game.

Bungie said that it was because Halo 3 already installed its maps to the hard drive while you played if you had a drive attached, so it's copying files from the hard drive to another part of the same drive WHILE running from the drive, thus slows down.
Most developers do not write to the drive at all, because they were never supposed to, due to non HDD owners.
I don't think it will affect many games. _________________

I think that happened with Halo 2 as well.
I always wondered why H2/3 ha the excessive initial load/negligible later load. _________________

interestingly, when you go into halo3 after installing NXE, it comes up with a huge message explaining not to update as clearly as possible. what i don't get is why they still leave the option available to you anyway?
also good to have something to cut the rare but severe lag issues/glitch in fable 2 that some users get at times. _________________

Wow, it takes a fair while to install stuff. I can understand why PS3 users get pissy when it's forced on them. Fable 2 has taken about 5 mins and it's only halfway, lucky it's worth it.

So has anyone noticed a considerable decrease in load times since installing a game? I've installed Gears 2 and it's subtle but the loading times are improved a bit. _________________

I wouldn't say 10 minutes is a considerably long amount of time to wait, in my case it's worth it as I have what sounds like an aeroplane jet sitting in a very small room. _________________

Midnight Club LA boots up about 20-30 seconds quicker at the start. Also the Map loads & streams a LOT better.
Even Madden NFL 09 loads a bit quicker. Plus im happy my disc sounds like its not being cut across itself anymore. _________________

It has been remarked that Gears 2 has the least noticeable difference of any game, because it was optimized to run off the disc by loading the next area during cutscenes.
Some games have very noticeable differences such as Fallout 3, Far Cry 2 and GTA IV.
The Last Remnant loads so fast I barely get a chance to read the messages on its loading screens. I've never been able to finish one yet. >_> _________________

Fifa 09 seems to be a lot smoother. The menus in particular really fly by. I only have an old 20 gig drive so its one game at a time for me.

Has anybody tested Lost Od? Do you install all 4 game discs? Does it require the correct disc to be in the drive or just any disc? _________________ Shin J Leon.

i've read that for the multi-disc games, any disc will suffice.
haven't tried it myself though, so i don't know if it's true. _________________

Been playing Banjo Kazooie installed and you don't actully have to watch the whole scene at the begining with the rare logo on before you can skip straight to the game wich is cool, loading screens is a tiny bit faster but nothing noticeable.
The game wasn't running at all from the disc though for some reason so thats a plus.
I was kind of pissed when my girlfreind started making her avatar and the girls have tonnes more options. _________________

you install each disc separately. eg install disc 1 only and play, then install disc 2 when youve finished disc 1. it treats each disc like a separate game install.
edit: this is what im assumung, since ive only installed disc 1 and the install is called "lost oddessy disc 1" or something similar.

Haven't been home since the update, but I still enjoyed making an avatar in my likeness, while suiting my gamertag (Da Herbalist).
I like the new dashboard, I find it clean and easy to navigate. Although I have some nice themes I like using and I'm a bit miffed that they don't mesh at all with the new dash, I can accept this small shortcoming. I haven't tried an install, but probably won't any time soon, as I can't be bothered waiting for it to install just to shave a few seconds off load times. _________________

i don't buy themes or gamerpics, but personally i'd be pretty pissed off that the themes i'd spent money on are now essentially broken.
i don't even think they use all 4 blade pictures anymore. _________________

I only bought one theme, the Psychonauts one, which I'm not overly miffed about losing, I mean, it was awesome but I'm not going to cry myself to sleep over 150 points.

The themes have been reduced to the one picture displayed on the menu, although you can purchase the new 'Premium' themes which go for 250 points each.
