woah! nice stuff there!
i like the classical feel to the wood grain. It must have taken ages to put together all those nuts and bolts and strings. _________________

How did you go about spacing the frets as accurate as possible?
Also did you have any prior experience with this sort of stuff? I would love to build my own guitar one day (must be very satisfying), although my current one is good enough for now. How much cheaper is it to make a guitar than to buy the equivalent in store? _________________

I bought the fretboard pre-cut to a 25.5" scale length. Doing it myself would have been a miserable experience trying to cut them exact. Defiantly worth the extra $16 to have them cut the fret slots.

I've had a few years experience in woodwork prior to this (Years 9, 10, 11), but no experience in guitar building.

Nice guitar, what model is it? I can tell you that it is overwhelmingly satisfying to have finally completed this.

Well I've spent about $450 all up. Something like what I've done would probably cost $1000 due to the cheaper pick-ups I put in. If i spent $300 on the two humbuckers instead of $80 (cheap, i know), then you might see something similar for $1500-$2000 possibly. (mind boggling, right?)
I should mention that there were two things i did not do my self:
1. cut the fret slots. I bought the fretboard with slots cut out.
2. the lacquer finish. I had a furniture maker spray the guitar.
I did everything else myself. _________________ Please support my love of gaming by making your play-asia purchases through my affiliate link.

That's pretty damn awesome.
I have a friend who makes guitars with his dad.
His dad stayed up all night finishing off the sanding of their last one, and woke him up at 3am saying I NEED YOUR BLOOD! (there being a tradition to put a drop of blood in the guitar before you finish it.) _________________

Nice work on the guitar, wonder if you'd get much for it selling it to people.
Dunno if I agree with the drop of blood thing though. Can't say I'd love to catch aids from a guitar lol
To me that's kinda like being a plumber and taking a shit in the toilet before you leave after you install it for someone.

Looks really nice, only thing I wanted to know is how many pieces is the neck, as that tends to affect the quality of the guitar somewhat (no freaking idea why)?

Man that's a nice looking guitar, congrats on building it. Just out of curiosity how exactly did you go about building the inside electronics? I've never looked at the inside of an electric guitar before so I'm curious to know what exactly goes into the interior designing of guitars. Also did you use any tutorials to help with the designing and building?
Even though I now own the guitar I've always wanted after seeing your creation I feel like I want to go ahead and try to build my own guitar.. It must feel awesome to play something you built with your own hands. _________________

Please tell me that's a Gibson Les Paul, because if it is I want to steal it (so what if I'm a bassist, it's sex with six strings).

Your half right, its a Les Paul Standard Plus but its an Epiphone. On my pay check the 1k for the Epiphone was much more appealing than the 4k for the Gibson.. plus I doubt with my mediocre skills you would hear a difference _________________

^ My best mate has that exact guitar but with cherry red neck/head.
I play an Epiphone Les Paul Junior. It's got some serious problems but I love it.
My dream guitar would be a Gibson LP Junior, or to take my pick of a Fender
Strat, Tele, Jag or Stang. Hopefull someday I'll own one of each.
I'd love to build my own guitar though. For $400 that would be amazing.
Unfortunately I don't know a lathe from a Cheese grater. _________________

the neck is one solid block of queensland maple carved to shape, with the ebony fretboard glued to it.

I drilled a hole between the pickup cavities and the control cavity and ran the wires through them. i then soldered the wires to their corresponding connections eg. volume, tone, selector switch.Take a look
sorry for blurryness
I had two resources that i used during production:
1. some tutorial book which I fill find the name of tomorrow
2. countless hours googling the net researching every step for tips and tricks etc.
love the les paul btw, my mate just bought one. I think his is silver with black outline.
I own this sweet axe, had it for nearly 2 years _________________ Please support my love of gaming by making your play-asia purchases through my affiliate link.

Yeah, the less pieces put into it the better apparently, something to do with the strain on the wood from the strings or something or other.

That's amazing! How does it sound?
I've been interested in making my own guitar, but never really got around to doing anything about it...
