IGN's 'take' on World Tour. He's taking the game too seriously, it's meant to be a heap of fun, and will still clearly have the challenge for the hardcore 'musicians.'
I wouldn't usually read IGN, but I wanted to get an opinion on it seeing as it will cost a couple of hundred bucks. _________________

So whats everyone doing here with Rock Band vs World tour?
I originally was going to buy the instrument pack for the latter and a guitar pack for RB but now with the issues with the PS3 version i dont know what to do.
And now with Big W having the instrument pack for RB at just over 200$! Well!
So i could;
BUy GH WT instrument pack and RB game only on the xbox (i already have a guitar from GHIII which i THINK will work) - but id rather buy on the ps3 if possible.
Or..
The same as above but the other way around.
Or..
BUy RB instrument pack and GH guitar pack on the Ps3.
Argh! They make this reidiculously complicated..
Whats everyone doing? _________________

^Yeah I've actually been thinking about this quite a bit. Time I should spend studying...but anyway.
Originally I was going to buy Word Tour everything and then buy the Rock Band game disc down the line.
However now Rock Band is so cheap, I was going to buy Rock Band everything and GH:WT game disc.
But then I got thinking that the GH:WT drum has an extra button (symbol) so would I be missing out on the full experience playing GH:WT on RB instruments.
Then I heard that the Beatles Rock Band is coming, so that was another tick in the Rock Band column, but now it seems that's it's just another music game from the creators of Rock Band, not necessarily DLC or an add on to the Rock Band franchise, so it won't matter if I get RB of GH:WT.
So after being decided on World Tour for months, I've now changed my mind so many times in the space of a few days. I would love to hear recommendations from people. _________________

Well, this won't count for much because we imported RB+Instruments a while back, I've got Rockband 2 on order (just the game) which I plan to use with our current RB1 instruments. I'm looking to import the RB2 ones as soon as that becomes financially viable for me (may well be released in AUS be then...), and somewhere in there I'd like to get GH:WT (just the game) so long as any remaining PS3 instrument issues have been resolved. _________________

Well, either get both, which most people probably couldn't or get World Tour for the reasons you mentioned. I want both as well, but not sure which one would be better. And is there any use buying both?

I'm lucky enough to be able to order GT:WT at cost through work, so that means I'm only paying $230 which is only slightly more that Rock Band price at Big W.
I hear the GH:WT instruments (despite a few claims of a shonky drum pad) are leagues ahead of the Rock Band 1 instruments. _________________

I dont have my xbox360 connected to the internet.
So my question is:
Will RB1 instruments work straight out of the box with GHWT game?
Also will my wireless guitar from GH3 work right away?
or do i need a patch from the internet?
cheers.

kingz, yes, they'll all work with no patches. The PS3 was the only one that required a patch.
---
I'm going to buy the RB1 Bundle for cheap, because you can't beat $220 for a Guitar, Drumkit and Mic.
Then I'll import RB2 from the UK on Nov. 14. _________________

Ok, when you say 'required a patch' does that mean that problems been solved or is the status still at "REQUIRES a patch" if you know what i mean.
I dont want to get the ps version of GHWT unless theres a guarantee they'll fix the problem... _________________

Woah, hang on - the UK are getting Rb2? I assume that means we can access the same DLC then yes? As in we're the same region as them (Europe) correct?
Basically i dont want to import RB due to the DLC hassles but if this works out then thatd be great.. _________________

Well which game are you more interested in? Get the instruments designed for that particular game. I'm more of a fan of Harmonix's work rather than Neversofts, so I'll be personally going for Rock Band's stuff because it's cheaper and I'll enjoy the game much more.
Just because an instrument may be compatible with the other game, doesn't necessarily mean it will be as fun to use as the instruments designed for it.

Don't forget the game too! Big W is including the game in that $217 package.

Yeah but ive been looking at the different drum kits and GHWT's looks sooo much nicer - the pads have much mor eof a bounce to them than RB's.
I have to admit im probably more interested in RB although i'll be buying both but ..i dont know..the drum kit for GHWT looks REAL nice.. _________________

Yeah melike I think the same about the drums and also the guitar has that extra slide panel thing on the neck. I'm thinking Rock Band at this stage because that means you can definatly play all 3 games (RB, RB2 & WT). I just hope that the instruments do not break or I get burnt (not physically) somehow by not going for World Tour.
Really, $217 is insanely cheap, especially considering it came out in the US for $199US. I know it's a year old game, but that's still a great price. _________________

As a person who has played neither title yes I've been in a cave help me out.
(3 weeks ago I played GH 2 at a cousins house he is eight and has a PS2 which i took over for about 2hrs till he nearly started crying so I've gotta buy this I'm hooked.)
What I plan to do is buy GH:WT with the guitar and buy the Rockband game only for 360 is this a good idea? should I get both? I plan to buy the peripherals down the track once I have a better idea of which one I like. _________________

Bad news starting to come out of the U.S. in relation to the much heralded GHWT drumkit......
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3170922
I was lucky enough to bring home the RB drums in my luggage after spending the early part of this year travelling the States. After that I imported the game from the U.K and bought the Logitech mic separately. All up cost pretty much $200 AU exactally. Been downloading tracks since about August and haven't looked back. _________________

It IS an awesome price! And you're making me sway again ..cant make up my mind! I was watching a youtube vid comparing the two drumkits..
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=mzm7L8n29fE&feature=related
and the GHWT kit looks far and away better. I have an electornic drum kit so my attitude towards that is influencing my decision here but i have to tell myself - this ISNT an electronic kit - its essentially a toy! I dont need the drum heads to have a nice bounce on the pads or whatever.
So yeah..its a toughie. I wish Neversoft would come out and announce the patch for PS3 support however - that would be nice. _________________

On the PS3, the Guitar Hero: World Tour game does not apparently allow you to use the PS3 Drumkit from Rock Band as far as I know. I'm not sure about the guitar, but it's likely the same fate.
---
As for the slide panel on the GH:WT controller guys, people have been saying that it's far too sensitive, with arm hairs registering strums and now breezes through a window registering a strum. _________________

Yeah, i know. I just thought by your wording that the patch for it had been released or at least confirmed. I wont be buying GHWT on the PS3 if this isnt sorted.
And theres [roblems with the guitar as well? yeesh.

I was going to get Guitar Hero, as I know their guitars and it sounds like their drums are better. Now I'm thinking I should grab Rock Band at the cheaper price, too. _________________

I picked up RB from the UK so I have the whole getup and was seriously thinking about selling the whole lot (not all of my guitars as I have 3 at the moment :/) for a GHWT setup but I'm glad I haven't. While I would like to have the cymbals I keep hearing bad reports and not being able to play RB and RB2 (Nov 21 UK release!) is a MAJOR no no.
I think I'll stick with what I have another year and might even pass on GHWT unless I get desperate for some extra songs. My opinion is to get any gear you can - that will work - but make sure you have a copy of RB or RB2 in the collection. The game is so nicely put together after 6 months I'm still playing it regularly with friends on the weekend and GH has not been played ONCE since I got it. _________________

Hmm, I really don't know which one to get, then I won't know what consoles. Can anyone help me out? Is there any use getting both? Cause they are essentially the same game, just different instruments.
