Shootmania. The new eSport.

Has anybody heard of or even tried playing this game? It's currently in its beta, but looks like a really fun game.
Apparently its been designed for competitive pro-gaming which sounds kinda exciting.
From what I hear there are people are organising aussie servers so hopefully it could get quite big here if enough people get behind it.

You have to pre-order the game to get the beta, but it's dirt cheap and I have heard that you can get hold beta keys in other ways.

Nice graphics, but it's a deathmatch game with one weapon, yeah? Like, a futuristic paintball/laser-tag kinda thing.

Would be a good entry-level game for people new to competition-style shooters, or those that couldn't get into COD.

Actually, I believe there are 2 weapons to choose from. Woo-Hoo!
I haven't had a chance to have a look at it myself, I'm building a pc so maybe in a week or two I'll be able to check it out properly.
From what I can tell it's being aimed at the pro circuit, so there isn't going to be any kind of ranking up and getting better stuff going on. But being that it's still in its beta I'm sure improvements will be made to ensure it becomes a half decent game.
The thing that attracts me to it is how it encourages the community to get involved in creating maps, kinda reminiscent of Unreal Tournament or Counter Strike.
It looks like it has some potential. I wouldn't try to compare it to BF or COD because it's a completely different kind of game. But it looks like it could be fun.
