Talk about a non-event. It's been what, three weeks now since 2.4/2.41 were released and still no trophies for anything except Super Stardust HD? What exactly do the guys at Sony do all day? Surely they could have at least one retail game enabled to take advantage of Trophies by now, or even announce that one will soon.
But nope, nothing. I'm not sure how Sony expect the system to take off, and especially how they expect it to compete with Achievements. Perhaps they've given up already? Imagine how crazy people would be going for Trophies if they had them implemented for GT5: Prologue and MGS4 from the time of the update? I'd be on there taking dudes out and breaking lap records, but instead my Trophy cupboard is as empty as the workload of whoever is in charge of Trophies at Sony.
Feel free to allow this thread to function as a general Trophies thread... if there's ever anything to actually talk about.

It's upto the developers, and I imagine there wouldn't be much incentive to upgrade existing games with trophies, other than kudos from fans.
They'll be a standard thing eventually. _________________

I hear Buzz will be the first retail game to have trophy support. I do agree with you about the lack of support though, I was expecting to see some patches for more than just Stardust by now. I guess we'll just have to give it time. In the meantime, I have some nice Stardust trophies to look at. _________________

Warhawk is also getting trophies soon. Then there is LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Buzz, I think an NBA game and more.

blaming sony for the lack of trophies? i'll agree on first party games, but it's up to the devs to include them in patches, but like anything these trophies you don't just dump into a game and send it off, it needs to be planned, and depending on the achievement it'll depend on the type of trophy you get.
i'm not too fussed at the moment since i'm in the process of moving and it does give me time to be able to get myself sorted before i can sit down and really aim for those platinums.
i just hope they release a patch with trophies for mgs4, itching to get into a second play of it _________________

The problem I have with Trophies is the the way you access them and it doesn't feel really *part* of the system. For one, they take a good while to load and aren't really sorted all that well. Of course, yeah, they launched it with one game which is also pretty poor. Also they only update once you quit back to the dash.
The whole system still looks and feels like an afterthought. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Warhawk, Uncharted and Burnout are supposed to be getting Trophies next month (Uncharted is definetely getting Trophies by mid-August). By late 2008, early 2009, I think it will be a requirement for all PS3 games to have trophies. I know games like Bioshock, SOCOM, Wipeout, Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2 etc are all going to have them this year. _________________

while it is disappointing that only one game atm has trophies. You have to be happy that we at least have them now. Whether Sony planned to implent them eventually or they listened to the public is anyone's guess. _________________ Dragonforce's new album Ultra Beatdown out August 27th.

Of course. Someone gets up Sony for an obvious problem, and you defend them! Yet if only 1 Wii game had trophies, you would be saying Nintendo sucked.

Awesome. Another reason to play through Uncharted again!
They really should have ensured games had trophies via patches before they even released the firmware update imo which so far has been pretty 'meh'. I know it's been mentioned elsewhere, but in-game XMB so far (for me anyway) has been pretty useless as all the PS3 games I own don't let me play music while I play _________________

I think the Playstations Trophies is a much better concept then the 360's achievements, I actually stop and admire my trophies whereas the 360 achievements, once achieved, mostly forgotten. For me anyway.
Having said that, trophies for a game besides stardust would be nice :]

I like Trophies as idea but I think it has a long way to go (interface, comparison, friends list etc).
I love the idea of having a 'level' and ranking an achievement to a level of Trophy. It's certainly taken Achievements to the next level.
My main issue in the way it's implemented with atm. It's still clunky and slow compared with the 360 interface. Plus it's not really mainstream yet. Achievements big advantage is it's been there since day 1 and it's integrated into everything. Web interface, comparison etc.
But all this is good, it is raising the bar for Sony and M$ to keep evolution their services. The the best thing about this generation of gaming IMO! _________________ Shin J Leon.

I'd like to see the figures on how many people purchased Stardust since trophies have been released? _________________

can also add that ferrari challenge and wipeout HD will both have them soon (wipeout HD when it comes oout)

This is a nifty website for keeping track of Trophy-related news.
TROPHIES!
Couple of notable things on there at the moment:
- Bioshock Trophies look to be basically the same as the 360 version's achievements.
- No Trophies for Star Wars: TFU.

Whaaa. I thought it was mandatory for EVERY game to support them from now on? That really really sad news IMO. _________________ Shin J Leon.

The game had already been in development, before trophies were announced, its probably near finish if its releasing this year.

^ That reasoning doesn't really work as Sony would have been planning the launch of Trophies for a while and could have asked developers way ahead of time to begin work to implement them.
I don't know what goes on behind the scenes but to me it seems like Sony have said to the other kids in the schoolyard and said 'Hey guys, wanna play with my new toy?' and the other kids aren't overly interested. The problem with that scenario is that Sony shouldn't be asking them, it should be enforcing that Sony's new toy is what we play with now.
I just think it's a mistake for Sony to leave it up to the developers whether they put in Trophies or not. I'm sure it will be compulsory eventually but they've had plenty of time to get it together.
No excuses!

I was just thinking recently, imagine if Sony were to introduce trophies on the PSP. It's definitely possible, and I think it would certainly help to get people more interested in their PSPs, it's the sort of thing we'll never see on the DS. They could even integrate it with the PS3's trophy system if they were clever, it would be sweet if you could use your PSN account on your PSP. Just a thought, anyway. Sony need to get the system sorted out on the PS3 first, in any case. _________________

I thought it was already understood that trophies would be optional for this year so that games already approaching release could still release as planned, but they'd be mandatory next year sometime. _________________
