Well Id hazard a guess. Lets say the stick is about $150 USD and shipping (EMS) is in the ballpark of $60 USD (bloody heavy and big). Thats $210 USD ($315 AUD). I'd actually imagine its more than that in reality. Im I right eggy?

I vote to keep this the Sticks and Controllers thread too (as this is what I asked Groovy Samurai to change it to. It was previously Hori stick thread).

Hey I had someone ask about what PS2-PS3 converter I use for my HRAP2. I chose the REAL converter (which appears to be out of production. Ditto the Pelican).

There is a 3rd converter you can use that has been proven to be lag free. Get the InPin korean PS2 to PS3 converter. I think there is stuff on SDTekken site about it.

Paid the retail US price + 27USD shipping. I think it ends up being around $270 AUD, which is MORE than a freaking 360, but is worth it to me. I reckon it pwns my custom 360 HRAPs. Will be voiding my warranty as soon as I get it, and modding the JLF to be tighter and more precise. icon_razz.gif

My opinion about obtaining a SFIV TE stick. If you want it, DO NOT hesitate. Just buy it! (unless the shipping is horrendous like $100 USD etc). This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a part of Street Fighter history. I have high doubts that Mad Catz will be able to drum up enough interest to make another 3000 units (this is how many they have made of the TE right now, and i assume this is a good amount to maximise profitability. Less units and it's not worth it financially).

Just do it SumAznGuy. Then you will not regret that you missed out. I'm not saying Mad Catz won't make a 2nd run, but the chances are slim IMO, and I didn't want to risk missing out or being forced to pay collector's price on eBay - you know this is going to happen. I reckon you'll see them going for twice the RRP on eBay - disgusting!

UPDATE:
Apparently ALOT more than 3000 preorders for the SFIV TE stick have been made, so Mad Catz is going back into production to fill these preorders. I would assume they would make more than what is needed to fill the preorders, so perhaps there will be 2nd round preorders coming up soon.

I want the SFIV TE stick. Where have you guys pre-ordered it from. play-asia?

Normally I would never pay $200 for a game LE, but I just can't help myself with SFIV. I want it ALL!

I ended up preordering from Gamestop online.

If you want to preorder it now, it is too late. Currently there aren't anymore US retailers who ship internationally (for a reasonable price) that are taking preorders for the 360 TE stick. Barnes and Noble are still taking preorders for the PS3 TE stick though.

http://videogames.barnesandnoble.com/Video-game/PlayStation-3-Street-Fighter-IV-Tournament-Edition-FightStick/e/728658015534

Shipping is pretty decent too. $34.99 for 1 stick. $39.99 for 2 sticks.

Otherwise if you want to get your hands on a 360 TE stick you'll have to keep an eye out for any retailers taking 2nd round preorders if Mad Catz makes extra TE sticks over the amount needed to cover preorders, or just wait for the eBay madness....

I know the Capcom Store is suppose to be getting an allocation of TE sticks for preorder soon (no date though), but they don't ship internationally. If you know someone in the US who can help you out, that is another option.

Good luck!

hahaha.....that was where i was gonna get it from icon_smile.gif Although i might not be a hardcore street fighter fan (i mainly love the Capcom crossover games ), that stick is very tempting.....though spending $480 on just one game(Over the top CE + Stick).... icon_eek.gif Sure the stick can be used for other games, but still...

Knowing me, i'll probably buy it....Before they stop shipping overseas....like they did with RB2 SE icon_biggrin.gif

Also, i heard that opening it up doesn't void the warranty.....remember hearing it somewhere but i can't exactly remember where...-_-"

It definitely does void your warranty if you open either the TE FightStick or the regular FightStick. Has been stated by Seth from Capcom (at CES'09) and MarkMan on SRK forum (designer of the Mad Catz SFIV peripherials).

Like it matters to us Australians anyway. We can't even get warranty anyway.... I doubt you'd get any help on warranty from HES (Mad Catz distributers). I think only US and UK have good Mad Catz warranty, plus we imported anyway.... how bad would it be to have to ship that back to the US to get your TE stick fixed.... ghey....

Oh yeah, I remembered you got yourself a Wii Fighting Stick. How is it in TvC?

A friend of mine from the SRK forums told me that Gamestop higher ups sent emails to every store to inform them to longer take pre-orders on the TE sticks. I'm glad I already have one of those pre-ordered. I might pick up the regular fight stick just for the heck of it since those are still available to order.

One thing I've been wondering about the PS3 SFIV is if they will work while connected to a PC...

It appears as of this time, Barnes and Noble don't seem to be taking any more preorders.....They've closed them down in the past 3 hours or so(i've only had like 4 hours of sleep) as i could have pre-ordered before then. Ah shame.... icon_sad.gif

Also TvC is awesome....though the default button allocations seem a bit weird to me, they're completely different to the MvC2 ones. The arcade stick works perfectly, i easily perform hadoukens and whatnot.....just the joystick itself feels a bit small...like a small nub -_-

Now if only i knew my kanji.....X_x

Just giving all of you who are still trying to pre-order the TE sticks a heads up. One video game retailer a few cities away from me (in America) seems to still be taking pre-orders for the TE sticks. They ship internationally, but the downside is that they only accept paypal for international orders.

X-BOX TE
http://www.japanvideogames.com/Xbox-360-Street-Fighter-IV-FightStick-Tournament-p/xb360-sf4fightsticktourament.htm

PS3 TE
http://www.japanvideogames.com/Sony-PS3-Street-Fighter-IV-FightStick-Tournament-E-p/ps3j-sf4tournamneted.htm

Also, I saw another arcade stick by Hori which retails for $129.99US. I don't know the exact specs on it though. Just by going by the looks, it seems to resemble the Tekken arcade stick.

Hori SFIV Stick

Good luck pre-ordering everyone!

If you're pre-ordering, be warned: MadCatz have mentioned the initial shipment of 3000 is already taken and they're trying to produce more as fast as possible. That's probably why most places have stopped taking orders.

Edit: why do I not remember reading all the posts above this one? Must not have noticed the second page... D'oh!

Do you know any other places that are still offering pre-orders that can ship to Aus?Because.....

That's from the site you mentioned.Since I'm pretty sure that's in US dollars, $541ish AU is way too much for one arcade stick...Now I'm regretting not putting that preorder at Barnes....

For anyone wondering, The Hori SF4 Arcade sticks are just rebadged HRAP3's(PS3) and EX2's(360) with a SF4 skin and Turbo function apparently.

Apparently more than 18,000 TE sticks have been preordered! That's a crazy amount! Also word is that 2nd batch production of sticks that are being made to fill preorders will probably be going out mid March. Hope I get lucky and get one of the initial 3000 units =P

The problem with the SFIV HORI sticks is they have a premium on top of the regular HRAP/EX2 price, because of SFIV licensing fees. So pretty much just because it has SFIV art on it, you're forced to pay an extra ¥2000 or something close to that. A little silly when they are exactly the same as their non SFIV counter parts. I would assume the Mad Catz SFIV sticks would cost less if they were associated with SFIV, since Mad Catz would not have to pay for the SFIV license.

If that is your only option left and you desperately want the stick, I would lean towards pre-ordering the stick. After taxes, I'll be paying $162.36US. You'll be paying about $78US ($116.14AU) more if you pre-order from whatever place you're pre-ordering at. I would pre-order just to be safe.

Holy crap @ those prices. So glad I got my HRAP when I did. At the time I thought Id lost my mind. Now it feels like a bargain.

You guys should consider non- SFIV branded sticks. Like these Hori Real Arcade Pros for the 360 & PS3 (sanwa stick with hori buttons. But you can swap the buttons down the track right Eggy?).

Hey just watched this: http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/23393

59 minutes of guys playing SFIV with both upcoming madcatz sticks. Comments at the start and at around the 48-49 minute mark. Basically theyre fans of both the tournament and standard versions.

So are these guys experts or hopeless? Cause they make the game look way hard.[img][/img][img][/img]

Hey that's a really cool video of SF4, I like how you can individually change the voices from Japanese to English and vice versa for each character.

I'm really looking forward to the home version (hence why I splashed out on the Madcatz TE sticks). Can't to try out Cammy and the rest of the new fighters.

I went ahead and pre-ordered.....though i'm not sure if its actually gonna come in or not(Site says Paypal for international customers, couldn't get transaction to process when Paypal details were added....so i just typed in the card number (my bro's debit mastercard) and it processed...yay?)

Now SFIV is officially the most i will have spent on just 1 game:
$199.99 or $169.95(If i get from EB - 15% off voucher) for Over-the-top CE
$239.90US ~$360AU(though i managed to get my bro to pay off a bit of the shipping icon_biggrin.gif) for TE fightstick (Which apparently comes with a small card with every chars move list = Win imo)...Paying $80AU more than i could've...but then again, B&N took like 2 weeks to ship my RB2 after i had paid for it (In end taking 4 weeks for it to arrive...) and this place can supposedly do in 3-5 business days..
Total amount: $560 or $530 icon_eek.gif

Purchasing a HRAP3 with the buttons replaced with Sanwas would just cost under $300AU (if you purchase the stick from play-asia with UPS shipping) at current day exchange rate -_-.For most people(like me) we can't/don't want to open up the stick and switch the parts ourselves in fear of screwing up (Though i'm pretty sure that's unlikely right?), so some of us are willing the pay that bit extra for everything to be Top quality without modification. Though the Hori buttons aren't that bad are they?? I'm not a person that knows much about Arcade sticks, only stuff i know is Sanwa's are apparently one of the top quality parts and Arcade sticks are the only way to play fighting games -_-"

Let's see how you feel once your friend consistently beats you using a standard gamepad.

Sanwa better than Hori buttons. I dont doubt it. But do you really need 'the very best'? Are you a tournament player?

Reminds me of when I was a kid. A mate of mine couldnt skate to save his life. Didnt stop him buying a Tony Hawk Powell-Parelta skateboard (best thing you could buy at the time). Unfortunately he was too embarrassed to use at any skate park ...cause he couldnt skate.

Sometimes you're better off buying what you probably need. In my friends cause he should've got a Kmart cheapy or Reflex skateboard. If you don't know the first thing about arcade sticks and thus dont have a personal preference for particular parts - should you really be plonking down $360 for an unseen, untested (by you) bit of kit??

(Please note I myself bought stick well beyond my needs. No denying Im a hypocrite ... but wiser for it. Oh and yeah. It didnt cost me $360)

I've always followed the belief that the correct way to play fighting games is to use whatever we are most comfortable with. My preference is using an arcade stick(Western or Japanese style), but I've played people who are both insanely good with both controllers and arcade sticks.

I have no plans on my modding my SFIV TE stick because I'm more than confident I can play well using the original parts and I'd rather keep the stick with all its original components in tact. The only stick modding I'd ever want to do is with with the HRAP sticks. Even then, all I want is custom artwork on it.

yeah changing the buttons in a HRAP is really easy. Just take off the quick disconnects (remember which coloured wires correspond to what button before removing), pop the HORI snap ins out, and snap the sanwa or seimitsu buttons in (or screw in if you get screw ons) and reconnect the quick disconnects. All modded.

Reports are the regular FightStick has better buttons than stock HORI buttons. Also the stick is less clicky and has a better feeling that the stock HORI stick in the Fighting Stick 3/EX2.

About the character cards. Unfortunately they are not included with the TE FightStick. Only the regular FightStick comes with the character cards. Not a big deal though. A dude on SRK is translating the Japanese characters on the Japanese SFIV site, so you can print those out when they get released. I'm sure someone will do high res scans of the Mad Catz character cards when the stick is released we can print those out too.

An update to my modded JLF. I've tweaked the microswitches, replacing the folded post it notes with cardboard from a Saltana Bran cereal box (so that the thickness is uniform across all the microswitches), and also added tape around the bottom of the actuator (the part that hits the gate). This makes has made a MASSIVE difference in stick responsiveness. The tape on the actuator actually makes the gate slightly smaller also. The only long term problem is I've used paper masking tape, and I know it'll wear out after lots of use, so I should probably change it for electrical tape next time.

Ciel: you know how I said the sticks don't allow DP motions if you try to hit the corner and you need to execute quite fast? It's now fixed and will execute a DP move EVERYTIME if you do the Z motion properly. Even slowly. I reckon the next time we have another HD Remix you'll notice a MASSIVE difference in the sticks performance (and I hope the UP direction is broken on my 2nd stick too....)

Does anyone know where to buy heat activated shrink tubing? people on SRK have been using this on their JLF actuators as it gives a perfect uniform fit around the actuator, and will last a long time. I want to give this a try next time, because even the electrical tape isn't perfect as it can become loose after a while.

Thanks for the links guys. Looking forward to reading/watching them after a trip to the city (gotta pick up something new to wear for Chinese New Year).

Also check out this weird stick from XCM.... Talk about a cheap ass cheaty stick
