We could use IRC to organise matches like other sites do. It'd be easier to handle as you wouldn't have to add anyone's addresses or any of that stuff. I've set up a channel on the Rizon Network we could use if anyone was interested in this. Maybe set weekly/fortnightly/monthly(?) Brawl Wi-Fi Nights where everyone shows up and has some matches.
Anyway, if anyone's interested in a few matches later tonight or now even (its much easier than using PMs) the channel is #PALGNBrawl on irc.rizon.net for people who already use IRC.
People who have never heard of IRC in their life, have a look at this: http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t316/canetoad92/PALGNBRAWL.jpg and then go to http://www.thisisgaming.net/irc/ where you type in the same as the pic except of course you type your nickname. PM me if you have any troubles . _________________

Some first impressions:
It's definitely slowed down but it's still so fluid it's not really a bad thing, though it feels a little less hectic than Melee.
I really like Meta Knight and Pokemon Trainer, Squirtle was especially fun to use for some reason. I tried out Olimar but haven't picked up on the whole throwing the Pikmin thing yet.
But good times, for sure. Gooooood times.
Oh, and can somebody tell me how to access the content Nintendo puts up daily, the replay and the stage and the pic? I turned Smash updates on in the online options.

Hey everyone, as joejoe mentioned in the Freeloader (PAL) thread (thats the link there if you're wondering), there is a new Firmware available which has something to do with the shop channel & WiiWare....
Anyone want to test downloading it & seeing if it disables freeloader, or know of anywhere thats tested it already?
Cause i want to download, but i like playing Brawl early & all that... _________________

Users at Aussie-Nintendo have said it doesn't effect their freeloaders. So, unless they're fibbing... _________________

Well I updated my Wii with that Update. Was a small update (done within a minute) and firmware remained at 3.2E. So I think it is just a shop update and not a firmware update at all. Freeloader and Brawl still works.
I was talking to a mate of mine and wondered if Nintendo would nerf the Freeloader with a firmware update. Technically the actual device isn't a modification to the console itself and we aren't playing pirated copies of the game. So there's no real laws that is getting broken. Nerfing the Freeloader will just bring up a lot of anger from people who bought an OFFICIAL copy of the game since a potential 3 month wait is just not good enough when the means to play it is readily available. Also it's not like the miniscule importing percentage of the install base outside of the NTSC regions is big enough to really affect their region marketing. If they do nerf it. It will be in poor form.
On a different note:
I will eventually get the PAL version when it gets released locally as I really am not too keen on always using the Freeloader. My biggest conundrum is whether the save game from a US version will work with a PAL copy of the game? I would hate to realize that I will need to unlock everything again. I guess we will know when it gets released locally. _________________

Ok people i have found an easy way to get rid of a lot of people in survival. You need to pick kirby and get on the far left platform and just hold up and you will jump once but keep holding up. than you push normal punch button. this will cause a fast kick and all you need to do is stay in that spot and just keep kicking and watch them fly away . _________________

Oh, I figured out the Brawl content updates. Is it a daily thing? I got one today but I didn't get one yesterday.
I think it's a cool idea though, today's user stage is pretty good, sort of a half pyramid thing on one side with a long ladder leading down to spikes on the other side. Definitely better than anything I've made yet.
And is it just me or do the stage builder options seem fairly limited? I mean you can make any sort of basic arrangement but I expected a lot more, particularly in terms of having different backgrounds and more 'gimmick' pieces. I've only unlocked one of the Parts sets so getting more may change my mind. Can anybody tell me if it unlocks more backgrounds, because 3 seems pitiful when its just a 2D picture, surely for something like that they could have included dozens of options.

I've never noticed any kind of screen stretching/bending or anything abnormal. Maybe double check your TV aspect ratio and the game's aspect ratio as well. And probably the Wii's aspect ratio too to be safe.

Hey guys, slow down with the IRC.
We (PALGN) already have an IRC channel. Which would more than suffice for all your brawl-organising needs. So don't make a new one, help populate the current one.
The server is "irc.austchats.net"
The channel is "#PALGNchat"
Also, http://gtpod.palgn.com.au/irc/ has a bunch more info. _________________

the Aspect ratio is fine, its just that objects on the side of the screen are much larger than when they are in the middle of the screen. I doubt its my tv. - Sony Bravia X _________________ http://bencadphotography.com/

Well its not really "we" as it is completely unofficial but yeah, I didn't think you'd guys would want a lot of people coming in and organising matches (though I know you want people coming in). Maybe we can have a separate channel on Austchat so everyone can come in to both without having to know really about how to use IRC. _________________

Not a bad idea canetoad. You're right, we wouldn't really want people coming in and filling the place up with Brawl stuff, but having a channel on the same server would work well. How does #PALBrawl sound? I've got it registered on the server and ready to go. _________________
