I can't see Brawl being the last Smash Bros. game. Although if the past is anything to go by, we won't be seeing the next Smash Bros. game until Wii 2 is released (unless there's a DS game in the works, please Ninty?)

I do believe Sakurai said that they held back on characters as an incentive for another one.

Sakurai did actually say somewhere that he was looking to make Brawl the last one - or at least the last one he was in charge of - but he seems to have shrugged that off now.

I thought he said something about working on it as though it were the last in the series. In any case, I'd be pretty surprised if we don't see a sequel on the Wii 2, but I'm a bit skeptical of a DS game, I can't really see it happening. It would certainly sell, but I get the feeling Nintendo want to keep it as a console exclusive series.
