umm. I got a question to ask from a mate of mine, who doesn't have a HDTV, and he is wondering if there is anyway to get Brawl to work with colour on a CRT SD TV.?

@ joejoe: It depends on the situation for me with Dr Mario, but yeah i suppose i am quite offensive with him (pity his f-air doesn't spike like Mario's does though; u'll probably see that i missed that hit early on, but meh)

@ Plazma: yeah its a still a bit of a risk seeing as we don't know when Ninty will release another firmware & if it will render Freeloader useless or not, but I'd prefer Brawl earlier icon_smile.gif, i may even buy the PAL version when its available (and worse comes to worse with freeloader)
Was that you who commented on my vid? Thanx

@ Shadow Wave: thanx
Yeah there is one way (& i stated it in that post) here:
Quote:
or until i order a RGB SCART cable for my TV & Wii

The RGB Scart Cable can be off Ebay, other online stores etc or official (expect price differences though)
And works around the problem

BUT

I have just recently been given updated information stating that the B&W doesn't occur if you run the game in 60hz (even on a SD TV), a misunderstanding by the author of where i got the info from, so i & your friend should be enjoying colour Brawl even on a SD TV icon_biggrin.gif
I will update my last post, k

I finished Adventure Mode with everyone now, doing All-Star with DK next.

What would Melee vets recommend as the best way to spar? I've set the CPU to attack in training mode but it doesn't attack a whole lot. I guess setting the CPU to Level 9 with 99 stock would be the best way to get an extended session?

I'm trying to get better at the game because I'm not too crash hot right now. I tend to get dominated on the harder modes and on the harder Events. I think it's because I rely too much on trying to get good Smash attacks instead of softening the CPU up with combos first. I'm trying to do an event, Time For A Checkup I think it's called, it's Luigi against Peach and Dr Mario, and they just absolutely kill me all over the place. They're just too aggressive. I can usually eliminate one of them but the other will get me before I can get them.

lvl 9 battle all of them. battle three on 1 with a variety of levels 9's.

Yeah that was one of the last events i did. try using you up b when your next to them, hits them a fair way and you can combo off it.

An i also think that there is a very big jump from hard to very hard. compared to very easy to easy, easy to normal, etc.

lol when I used to "train" with Young Link in Melee (so disappointed young link is now in Toon form icon_sad.gif )

I had myself vs 3 level 9's on the same team. Best place to start is have your character vs 3 of the character you are using.

ie I would vs 3 young Links. basically it shows you what cool things you can do, which you may have not noticed. Then move onto other characters

There is no L-canceling in brawl, so you don't have to worry about it. Other than that all it takes is practice.

^ Hooray. Not sure how long mine will take to arrive. It would be phenomenal if I had it for the Easter long weekend but I'd say that's extremely unlikely. Dare, did you get a dispatch email to say yours had been sent out? It said in an initial message from them that confirmed my payment that I would receive an email when it was sent, but I haven't got one yet.

@ Toastfarmer: yeah mine has been sent out, bought from them on Thursday, payment confirmed & dispatched on Friday, maybe cause u bought slightly later than i did & there is no sending of items on a weekend?
I'm unsure how long it will take either, but hope it comes quickly

Pretty spoiler-ific today so will have one boss name visible (cause we know it already, rest are read at your own risk)
Plz tell me if you want all of them readable or not ,ok
Smash Bros DOJO!! - 17th MARCH wrote:
GAME MODE - ADVENTURE: Boss Strategies
Today I’d like to introduce the bosses from Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary – and along the way I’ll drop a couple of basic hints about how to beat them.

If you’re looking for some more hints, go ahead and check out some of the strategy guides online...

Rayquaza

With Rayquaza – and really, with all the bosses – you have to recognise when to attack and when to flee, so try to find a rhythm for doing both.

When you’ve got an opening to attack, go for it. At all other times, you need to keep yourself in a position where you can dodge at the drop of a hat.

If you rely on mid-air attacks, at the very least you won’t have to worry about getting knocked off your feet by Rayquaza’s Iron Tail or getting hit by its charge. So I guess it’s to your advantage to keep airborne.

Jump in for a quick attack and take a peek at Rayquaza up close.

You can use a reflector or similar special move to bounce Rayquaza’s balls of energy back at it. This tip is also hinted at in the movie that precedes the fight.

When Rayquaza leaps outside the frame of the stage, make sure you note how it made its exit.

When it rises straight up and away into the air, you can expect it to strike from the side soon thereafter, so get ready to dodge vertically.

If Rayquaza instead coils itself up in mid-air and flies off or plunges into the ground below, prepare to dodge an incoming vertical attack.

If Rayquaza takes this pose, it’s about to launch a vertical strike. Just keep moving to the left or the right and you’ll be fine.

When Rayquaza pops out of the ground, hurt it with a smash attack!

----------

NAME SPOILER Porky END
Boss pic

His speedy little machine legs can be a real handful to deal with. When you make contact with these legs, you’ll often take a small amount of damage.

If you absolutely don’t want to take any damage, you’ll have to resort to long-range weapons or deftly jump in and out with mid-air attacks.

pic 1

Make sure you can back away from him at a moment’s notice.

Sometimes he will perform a multiple hit attack with his legs (or are they tentacles?) and when he does, you’d better distance yourself from him at the double. His attacks can take longer than you’d think to register a hit, so even if you think you’re done for, you should make an effort to escape.

pic 2

Smaller characters can sometimes dodge this attack by ducking.

When he fires his guided laser, back off as far as you can and use your mid-air dodges to escape the incoming blasts.

Occasionally the robots he launches take a tumble and explode, so run off to the side when you see them.

pic 3

It’s OK to make contact with the robots. Just watch out for those explosions.

When he dashes at you, take to the air, and when he lets off a barrage of electric jolts from the sky, move left and right to dodge. Keep dodging regularly throughout the fight to stay safe.

----------

NAME SPOILER Galleom END
Freakin' awesome looking Boss pic

it is a boss who’s just raring for a fight. You fight this iron giant two times during the adventure but the same strategy applies to both fights.

On the whole, it doesn’t have too many anti-air attacks, so staying high in the sky is a good way to avoid the brunt of its assault. Stay up by climbing with multiple jumps, using recovery moves, and employing air dodges.

pic 1

Use multiple jumps in conjunction with air dodges.

pic 2

When it fires off a volley of missiles, stay on the ground. Attack and attack again.

It’s easiest to dodge it's high jumps and falling attack with an air dodge.

If it transforms into its tank form, it’s usually best to take a big jump over and behind the machine, though this varies from character to character.

pic 3

Here you’re safe from missiles and charge attacks.

----------

NAME SPOILER Ridley END
Boss pic

Since it is in the air most of the time, you’re going to have to go up there and attack if you want to win the fight. Winning this battle therefore means using effective mid-air strikes. If your character has them, I’d advise focusing on using attacks that score multiple hits.

pic 1

I don’t recommend attacks that cause an impact stall, even if they pack a punch.

If you think "here comes an attack", put some distance between yourself and it and watch its movements. Studying the moves will really pay off.

If it flies upwards, dodge sideways to avoid the descending attack that follows soon after.

If it flies off the side of the screen, leap high into the air or crouch down to dodge sideswipe.

When it uses its tail attack or changes sides on the screen, jump to avoid getting hit.

Aim to incorporate dodges into your evasive manoeuvres as this will lessen the likelihood of you getting hit during all that running and jumping.

pic 2

When it rushes in from the background, jump and perform a mid-air dodge.

For times when you are far removed from it, especially if you’re playing on a high difficulty setting or using a character with poor mobility, it’s OK to stay stationary. If you keep your head and wait, I bet it will eventually bring the fight to you.

pic 3

Stay cool. Just stay cool.

----------

NAME SPOILER Duon END
Boss pic

This fearsome foe’s constructed of two sides – a gun side and a sword side. Looks as though you’ve got your work cut out for you with this boss.

When possible, try to keep some distance between you and the boss.

pic 1

Even so, man, it is one tough customer...

Your primary strategy for staying alive is to dodge and dodge again. Nimble dodging skills will be particularly necessary for getting by the sword side’s devastating close-range attacks.

pic 2

Stay light and nimble. If it connects, you’ll be in a whole world of hurt.

I guess, as a general rule of thumb, you should attempt to take on it from close range when fighting the sword side, and back away a fair bit when it switches to duel you with its gun side.

Also, it's guided missiles can deal damage if you can get them to crash into it. The effect of these missiles is especially strong in the harder difficulty levels, so try giving it a taste of its own medicine.

pic 3

If the above tactic sounds like too much work, you can always take advantage of the momentary invincibility you receive when climbing up ledges to dodge the missiles.

----------

NAME SPOILER Meta Ridley END
Boss pic

This fight to the death takes place on the back of the Falcon Flyer. The duel has a time limit of two minutes.

As it's health depletes, it will gradually shift its position towards the edge of the screen. How crafty.

pic 1

It’s hard to land a hit on it here!

It also has an attack where it pushes down on the Falcon Flyer. If you just stay standing on top of the deck when this happens, you may end up losing a stock for going off screen, so use a jump to stay aloft when you see the ship start to descend.

pic 2

Give it a quick whack when it’s here to shake it off the ship.

As for it's other attacks, like the one where it scrapes SPOILER its talons across the ground END, the best advice I can give is to stay in the air, as it’s easier to avoid most of the attacks this way. Don’t forget to mix in a couple of air dodges.

If you’re aiming to capture IT with a Trophy Stand, I think it’s easiest to transform IT when it stops attacking for a moment. You can do this anywhere on the stage as your ultimate goal is to snatch the newly made Trophy right out of the air as it floats down.

pic 3

Just make sure that you use a character who falls quickly when going for the trophy.

Finally, if you want to be really precise about it, this guy isn’t technically a boss, buuut...

----------

NAME SPOILER Porky’s Statue END
'Boss' pic

You can’t beat him. You really have no hope of doing so, so run.

pic 1

In his original game, he had 100,000,000 hit points.

So seriously now, you can’t beat this guy.

...So, are we all clear on that point now?

This whole entry is littered with the word "dodge", isn’t it? This technique is essential if you’re going to take on the bosses of Adventure Mode. I thought it’d be a good idea to get you in the habit of moving your finger towards that shield button when you see an attack about to connect.

Be it in the air or on the ground, if you don’t get hit you can’t get knocked out. I suppose, more so than attacks, it’s all about dodging and dodging again!

pic 2

Ike’s counter and Pit’s Mirror Shield are pretty strong weapons too!

There are some out there (me included) that don't want Subspace ruined, what i tried to ensure here icon_smile.gif
Some cool looking bosses though

wifi isn't region locked but it tries to find people with the lowest latency for the random games. Apparently there is alot of lag for long distances. Having a thread here would be awesome

Note: The following post relates to the names of music tracks, which may contain spoilers based on their names, although the final list is on the first page.

I've recently been going on to Youtube and listening to a few music tracks from SSBB. I've purposely only listened to a few, mainly just re-arrangements of tunes I've liked in other games.

I really like the Team Galactic remix, it stays true to the Diamond/Pearl mix, but enhances the experience just that little bit more. The Ridley and Meta-Ridley mixes are a bit meh and short, but I still like them.

I also liked the Tetris Type A mix, it's very old skool and quirky. Tracks such as Molgera, Live and Learn, and Delphino Plaza appear to have been ripped directly from their respected games. While some are great this way, I feel Live and Learn should've been re-recorded, simply to improve its quality a little (mind you, this could be a result of the recording FROM the game itself, so you may want to disregard that comment).

I'm pressed on deciding which track is my fav atm. It's between Meta Knight's Revenge or the Team Galactic Theme.

For those interested in listening to the tracks, you can type in "Smash Track Brawl" in the Youtube search bar and then the song title you wish to listen to. As I said before, there is a list on the front page.

I've been trying to download the Brawl soundtrack but I'm missing bits and pieces. I have 268 tracks out of the apparent 314. It's quite odd having the Wii Sports theme and the Mii Channel theme in there, though I find the Wii Shopping theme to be soothing in a strange, money spending sort of way.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRREEEEEEEE!!!??!?
Quote:
Ganondorf

The demon thief Ganondorf has returned! He’s the largest and bulkiest of all human-type characters.

His movement, his attack capability—everything feels weighted. Ganondorf’s attacks land with heavy thunks, which gives him a very unique feel.

Ganondorf's Special Moves
Standard Special Move Warlock Punch
Side Special Move Flame Choke
Up Special Move Dark Dive
Down Special Move Wizard's Foot
Final Smash Beast Ganon

Tips

In the last game, Ganondorf appeared with a stout build, so he’s got a middle-aged guy’s body here, as well.

His techniques are rendered with his stoutness in mind—they’re bitter and tough.

He runs while panting... "Uff uff uff!"

A piercing kick! He blasts the opponent sideways.

Down Taunt: Ganondorf draws a sword.

He takes out the sword he stole from the six Sages and takes a look at it.

... Then puts it away.

What are you putting it away for? Use it! People tend to make fun of Ganondorf for this.

<Side Special Move: Flame Choke>

On the ground, he grabs the opponent’s head and thumps it down.

In the air, he immediately slams the foe earthward!

As you end up close to the opponent lying on the ground, neither you nor your foe should let your guard down. Try a follow-up attack, or get up and fight—if not, dodge away from your enemy and unleash your counterattack.

It’s relatively easy to make successful standard attacks against bulkier, larger opponents.

<Up Special Move: Dark Dive>

Jump here...

If the opponent stays close, you’ll grab and electrify him.

If the opponent is far off, hit him with the Darkness from your hand.

Attacks that burn the opponent like charcoal are classified as "Darkness." If a sticker has a Darkness effect, it refers to any attack that Ganondorf uses to char the opponent. His standard special move Warlock Punch and down special move Wizard’s Foot are also Darkness attacks.

<Final Smash: Beast Ganon>

He transforms into a massive demon beast and charges!!

Beyond the fleeting moment of its effect, it’s a visually striking and terrifying attack.

Trans...FORM!!!

Roarrrrrrrrrr!

Charge!

The effect lasts only a split second, but what an impact. Whoa.

Those who have used Ganondorf may have noticed this... His roar has the effect of paralyzing enemies who are right in front of him.

This affects only those who are standing on solid ground. If you want to dodge this, I’d suggest using a jump or something to keep your feet off the ground.

He can bury opponents as a result of his transformation. Seriously?

I don't care what people say, I like Ganondorf. Is that a new move I see (>B)? Or is it just similar to the Captain Falcon move?
