I am thinking about putting my old 17'' back on with with 19" and 17" Setup and I was wondering what is the best cheapest (say around $50-$100) PCI or more preferably PCI-e 1x (not x16 don't have SLi motherboard) Video cards that might be out there?
So what do you recommend?
Cheers. _________________ Became a DAD on the 29/10/09 @ 10:47am, to a 7lbs 71/2oz baby girl, named Gianne Lee Joseph-Webster.

PCI-e 1x video cards dont exist, AFAIK, and all the PCI ones are very shitty.
They stopped being produced when AGP was introduced. _________________

I believe Matrox makes a PCI-E 1x card or two, but I'd just recommend hooking 2 monitors up to one card, as a PCI/PCI-E1x card is not going to be too powerful.
Save the money and use it towards your next card upgrade. _________________

Nvidia Quadro NVS will do it, They will cost a bit $160+
You are best to look at workstation corporation solutions, but these can be very pricey.
If you want I have a PCI card, equivalent to a GeForce 4 (i think) that I can send off to you (or considering you live in Bendigo, you can pickup in Woodend/Sunbury) Send me a PM if you are interested.
I still agree with Alex though, you are best to run it through the one Video card. If you are worried about performance while playing games you can always disable the 2nd Monitor (a hotkey perhaps) _________________

Well after doing some searching there is an HIS X1300 PCI-e 1x videocard out.
His X1300 PCI-e 1x Videocard
I dont want to do any gaming on 3 screens only the one, has long it does 2d stuff I'm good, but then again some programs I use may require 3d when I have windows from that program on the third monitor etc etc, I just want an 1x card because the PCI Slot it between my soundcard and 8800gtx and I dont want to add more heat then there already is between there (getting the Silverstone TJ07 case soon). _________________ Became a DAD on the 29/10/09 @ 10:47am, to a 7lbs 71/2oz baby girl, named Gianne Lee Joseph-Webster.

If you are adding a second video card with the 8800GTX I would stay with an NVidia card, you are asking for problems if you try to load ATI and Nvidia drivers on the same PC.
Not sure if you can but you should be able to lock the other port to 1x so it wouldn't matter what the card is it would just run slower and produce less heat.
