yeah, but the same happens on Halo 3, and ultimately any FPS on any platform, if you're in Australia playing on a US host/server.
(or playing on a host 1000s of km away from you.)
like i said, it's basic physics:
large distance and finite data transfer speed (speed of light) results in limit on your latency.

Although I've only played a few hours of Halo 3, all the games were lag free as the matches were based around the best connection option.
If only there was such an option...or I could get it on PC.

I would love that option.
I played this last night and ended up host. I have a nice connection and even the Americans were on three bars when playing.
It all went really well.
It's when someone with a crap connections is chosen as the host that problems occur.

this is the most lag free FPS ive played on the 360. im currently shaped down to 64k although im sure my upload speed hasnt been touched and i havnt had many issues with lag at all.

The beta on Live was just so good! It's hard to explain. I put in at least a good 15 hours just in the beta
That and I have very limited HDD space and I suppose achievements sway it a little too.
I'm still weighing it up though, and the PC version is cheaper and keyboard and mouse > controller...but idk...

Ive had similar issues with the retail version of Cod4...i went from really good ratio in the beta to a terrible one in cod4
i just need more aussie mates i think..lol
or make more use of the grenades and claymores

Claymores + Matyrom + 4th Assault Rifle Unlock (accuracy, distance) just claymore the entrances, or door way, attack.
Love this game, who cares about ratios? Seriously, huge domination battles you DIE heaps. Mines I think about 566kills/854deaths.
Rocking game online, add me if you want more Aussies who play this a lot, ill invite anyone to good aussie matches and vice versa (better ping = win).

I'm trading my copy of Halo 3 towards picking this up. EB have the trade in value for the Halo 3 CE at $68. Not bad considering I only paid $40 for it. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise.

Yeah, I asked about that and was told they wouldn't do that. I'm thinking there was a time frame for that deal or that the trade in value for Halo must have dropped. Either that or they're just trying to screw me over, which is likely. I'll try calling around at the other stores and see what they have to say.

Finally had my first go on multiplayer n this over the weekend - friggin' awsome! Takes on BF2 as the online shooetr of all time IMO.
Also, I had very little problem with lag or packet loss. I did have some, but then again I was playing in a party with some from who were all in the UK against alot of americans, but when we switched over to HALO3 i noticed it much more than in CoD4.

i was a missive halo 2 player for years and neva had a problem with the connection, ya my ping was bad sumtimes but it always allowed for it which was great, it was rare for me to have an issue with it, i would always have a K/D of +!0 or higher, ive just gotten back from living in canada for the past year and went out and bought a ps3 and COD W@W, and my K/D is always -5 or lower, unless there is an aussie host then its +5 or higher (only had the game 2 days still learning) i always leave a party afta a game if its a OS host, but i work nightshift so play at about 6am when there isnt many aussies on, so the chances of me gettin an aussie host is 1 in a million. it is fuckin rediculess that they cant put sumthing as simple as a choose which country bassed host u want, as im sure there r thousands of playes in most countrys, if ne1 is runnin aussie private matchs plz add me as friend,(sublimina) and invite me. and if ne1 knows the guy that runs the COD department of activision plz bitch slap him and tell him to lift his game
