If one wants to build muscle and create phenomenal definition, then it's weight resistance training for you. |
I don't think people know what 'toning' means (not just you, its a wide spread misconception). The fact is that you can't 'tone' your muscles. You can do these 2 things though:
1) Increase muscle mass (grow muscle tissue) through resistance training.
2) Decrease bodyfat through cardio exercise (which causing muscle tissue to appear more pronounced/defined/'toned'). _________________

I do agree that many people arent very clued up on the actual meaning of toning. Allow me to explain toning in more detail for those who may not realise what it means:
Toning does not necessarily increase muscle mass, it simple promotes muscle definition by reducing flacidity, giving the body a leaner appearance. It is attained in a similar way to increasing muscular mass. ie.. through resistance training, but the primary focus on toning involves utilising lighter weight with more reps as opposed to higher weights with less reps when building muscle. Hence, my remark on Wii Fit being more of a toning program rather than a weight loss or muscle building system.

There's no way you weigh 21 stone |
Most people tell me I look around 15 or 16 tops socko, but nope - I'm around 20 and a half stone. I don't think I'm particularly fat - I'm just tall (more or less exactly 2 metres / 6 foot 7) and, um, well-built I guess.
On the subject of Wii Fit's actual suitability as a training tool, I'd say it's as useful as Brain Training is to improving mental capabilities, i.e, not very. There's no way that half an hour on Wii Fit would beat half an hour on a rower. That's my conclusion from what I've seen so far, anyway.

Why don't the people who want to get fit just join the gym or go for a half hour walk every day? Sitting on your arse eating Maccas isn't going to do anything.

But mostly its to avoid going out into the big scary world lol _________________

Eh, I'm going to pick up the game, mainly because I'm really interested in the actual concept of the board and that stuff- the Exercise just happens to be a bonus to be honest. _________________

i really dont see why they wouldn't release a super-sized board outside of Japan... i mean, if you really think about it, US, UK and Australia are the top obese countries... logistically, it would make sense _________________

they'd probably charge us 100% (and probably the US about 50%) more than what it costs in japan for a 25% more stable board

Japanese board is fine by me. I haven't managed to reach 80kg ever, and have been idling around 75kg for a few years now. _________________

Well I assume they care most about money, and since noone has posted yet complaining, I assume that its going to be a very small minority over 136KG who want to play the game, so for Nintendo no bit loss, they would have probably died simply getting up to their computer to go order it online anyway
If by some miracle they did survive however, that would be nothing compared to the trip to the letterbox they would have to take in a day or two.

I imagine at least one reason that there haven't been many complaints about this yet, at least here, is because of posts like yours. If anyone was to post saying that they don't fit in the limit and/or that they don't approve of it (or similar) they'd probably be negged to the stone-ages and laughed at by sensitive souls such as yourself. There is a growing weight problem here in Australia, whether people are vocal about it or not.
Oh, and before you ask, yeah - I could use the balance board no problems - although I'm still a 'fatty' by any standards here. Make of that what you will. _________________
