Had my first day on the job today. It was pretty interesting, as I expected it was great talking to customers. I had a few laughs and overall a great time.
A customer even told my line manager that I proved excellent customer service, so I was overall pretty chuffed. _________________

Do you have a job?
Computer Tech for the past 2 years.
What job do I want in the future?
I'd probably like to get out of the computer business because when i get home, from sitting in front of computers for 9 hours, i dont feel like getting on my own.
How is my job?
It pays my MMORPG subscriptions.
Do I know anyone with cool jobs?
Nah, there's upsides and downsides to all jobs

Hehe - anything you need to know about Officeworks that I can help you with, 3mt? Are you trying out for the stationary/furniture, POS, printing or techworks? _________________

I work for a tourism bureau up in North Queensland. I used to work in the visitor information centre doing bookings and such for tourists but moved upstairs to the admin department where I take care of all the stuff that needs to be done but nobody else has time for - data entry mainly.

I believe it's something like $11 for under 19... $13 for 19 and over... $17 for Techworks flat rate (regardless of age). _________________

If i get the job, then there is a compulsory barbeque that I have to attend and i get paid for it lol.
I should be getting a call sometime in the next 48 hours so im hoping... _________________

Woo, I have a trial at Pancake Parlour, took a job as a trainee supervisor. I'm going to get free pancakes (if I get the job)!
It's interesting too, I have to experience every single stage of the company before I can supervise so I'll get to do the floor, the till, the kitchen, etc up until I'm ready to oversee other people doing these jobs. Should be wicked and I'll be earning heaps more than at this arsey commission job.

Firstly let me say, congrats Macka, where is the new supermarket?
Cause i had no idea there is a new one opening soon...
and Sin, when is ur trial shift? Hope all goes well for you
Oh and i have a trial shift tomorrow (and one on Sunday) in my local shoppin' centre at a place called 'Go Fresh', which is kinda like Boost Juice, but does yoghurt's, pasta's, and juices etc etc
Should be ok, but i have very little experience on cash registers
Haven't really had a job b4, so i welcome any experience (and cash) atm _________________

^be nice to customers.
never make comments about their looks, even when you think they cant hear you (my manager learnt that the hard way)
even if they dont deserve it, give them your best service. _________________

^ mind you when i say "never had a real job", i mean like: applied for one with my resume, gotten the job myself, kept it for over 3 months, been paid, that commitment per week etc
I've done work experience (mainly needed in conjunction with study/education) for short periods before (in a hotel Confrence & Catering, Rosehill & Randwick racecourse TAB 'Tote House' work, Housekeeping in a hotel {as part of my TAFE course}, Hogs Breath Cafe kitchen hand, and at a club as a kitchen hand etc)
Oh and i have some waiter experience (as part of my TAFE course), but don't fancy myself in restaurant/kitchen environments
So nothing 'concrete' as such
Thanx for the tips _________________

I had no experience in customer service, working tills, registers etc. before my job, but you pick it up in about 2-3 shifts easily. You see some of the people with jobs and think if they can do it - then I definatly can. _________________

Most places the tills are designed in such a way that a monkey could operate it effectively. I.e. instead of words there's images, they're digital so everything comes up on the screen, it really is idiot proof.

today is the last day at my job which is a little sad but more of a relief, now I need to find a new job quickly so I can keep up my morgage repayments. I have a few contacts that can give me freelance design work so that is looking pretty good, but it is a bit scary taking that step. _________________

Had the trial shift today, and all went pretty well
Basically:
- how things are done
service sizes, prices, cash register
- where stuff goes
- delivering some goods to the upstairs shop
as there are 2 of the same shop in the shopping centre. One in the food court and the one i was at downstairs
- 'observing and trying'
for the first half of the day
- fruit prep
- washing up/drying
and
- some sales/money handling/Customer Service
Only hiccup was one or 2 problems with change, but they were only small mistakes
Manager is great, staff are friendly
All in all not a bad day
and i got paid _________________

I was offered the job at the Deli, but i had to turn them down
Dare, it was at the new Woolworths opening in Rouse Hill on the 25th September.
It would have been awesome. I got the job, had to attend a training shift, everything was fine and then...
"You will have to work for the next 5 weeks in another woolworths store until the Rouse Hill shop open"
This would have been fine if it was Blacktown, Kellyville or even Castle Hill. But the store was in Merrylands, which is like an hour away and I have no means to get there. I was told on the spot that if i was unable to attend i would be "terminated."
I tried to transfer to one of the stores closer to me but, unfortuately was unable to. And the worst thing is that i now miss out on the barbeque that i was going to be paid to go to lol. _________________
