Do you have a job?
Currently I'm looking for employment.
What job do I want in the future?
Well for me the future isn't something that just comes to you without doing any work towards it so for me the question would be better if it read: What job do you want now?
In that case a filmmaker. However I already think that's my current job now, albeit an amateur filmmaker but I'm working towards it everyday nonetheless. But for income the job I'd like to have now is anything in the customer service area.
How is my job?
It takes a lot of patience, hard work, dedication and passion but it's all worth it. When I become a professional filmmaker all these things will still be required.
Do I know anyone with cool jobs?
Well I know of plenty of people, not personally but I do know of them. They are of course other filmmakers! Personally I know that my former girlfriend has a great job and that's with music.

Well I know it's not flashy work and I'm going into it to write code. I want to do it because gaming is my passion and a wise man once told me that you will be the most happy if you can turn your passion into a career and as such I am following his advice. I hear you man, I'm studying at Uni to get into the games industry myself (doing Bachelor of Arts: Interactive Media/TAFE Multimedia) , though we get to do some of both, visual and programming work (mostly visual, I don't like programming much). We're also doing a bit of audio this semester. The visual side is a bit flashier than the programming side, which I like and just about all the guys in my class are gamers. We get along quite well, as you would imagine. My main stumbling block is that my drawing skills are rather weak, which is a little troublesome. I just have to do the best I can when we have to draw out storyboards/animatics. Luckily I'm not the only one in that position, which makes me feel a little better. _________________

This could backfire and make you hate gaming, though, or at least make you jaded towards the whole process.
I felt the same about music and studied the music industry at uni. Out of my year and the year below, about 350 students, at the end of the course only 5 people felt they still wanted anythingt o do with the industry after what they'd learned an experienced over the last 3 years, and at last count and going by people's entries on FriendsReUnited, non of them worked in it any longer.

Theres (unsuprisingly) many people here that are interested in entering the games industry. I'm interested to know how many of you have looked into or know what is required to fill your job position? It is important to know what is required of you before you decide to dedicate yourself to something. Playing games and making games is very different, the Australian games industry is very small and competitve. Theres not much job security either. It's pretty risky business. So its worth poking around and doing some research, start dabbling in programming, animation or design now if you are interested.
Do you have a job?
Yes I do, working for Myer as a Salesman. Electrical department. I am also a Uni student and run a few website, might get into stock photography soon.
What job do you want in the future?
Not sure, something to do with Chinese or perhaps my other hobbies being design, photography or blogging.
How is your job?
Not sure, store opens tommorow. _________________

Do you have a job?
Yes, 2 jobs. Currently McDonald's at St Ives and also I work at Oporto.
What job do you want in the future?
Graphic designer
How is your job?
Shit. Pay is $7.44 an hour and it is probably one of the busiest mcdonalds around, because the place is too small and i am always running around trying to do things. I am going to quit both jobs very soon anyway because i do not need a job at age 14, i have otherways of getting money anyway.

Yep I've checked out a heap of info and even asked a few people already working in the games industry about their experiences and various things along those lines.

That is a link to the Games Developers Association of Australia. I recommend that if you want to enter the games industry you check this out for some info. _________________

had an interview today.
what a total f**king waste of time. why do companies bother calling you in, if they're after people with 10-15 years experience, when my CV clearly states i've much less than that.
all in all, pretty agro at the time wasting. _________________

Don't think that just because of that you won't get the job. I thought there was no chance of me getting the job when I accidentally got stunned on a question and said "I don't care about the customer", but suprised I was. _________________ Eternity-he is coming to get us

They have to make an appearance that they'd let people get the job, but yes its very annoying if you're one of the ones they string along. I get annoyed when a job ad says "Salary from 40k-45k". They will 99.9% of the time want someone who takes the lower end of the wage bracket. Why give a wage range if you know what you really want to pay _________________ RIP Buddha 19/10/1952 - 03/01/2004

If you went through an employment agency, I'm not surprised. They just want someone to take the position so they can get their 10%, and the more people they send, the better chance it's one of their condidates that gets the job.

My friend is having a bit a bit of trouble like that. She's looking for an admin/front desk job, but doesn't have a full license yet. She gets pissed off when she gets interviewed and they say that they would like someone with a license to so a couple of deliveries (mail, etc), but they didn't think to mention it in the job description at all therefore wasting everybodies time... _________________

I had my first shift of work. They had to have it on a Friday, probably one of the busiest days. I'm the guy that gets all the chips and chicken into boxes and stuff for the drive-thru.
I won't say my pay, but it's bigger than Pizza Shapes and B3Nbo's pay _________________

I quit both my jobs now and im considering getting a job at the Nandos at the top of my street, about 2 customers a day and only 1 person working there, occasionaly 2 on weekends. And then they always have 2-3 at night. Seriously they get barely any customers and you get $11 an hour at 14. The only reason i would really do it is because of the small amount of customers and the manager is never there.
