Bwahahaha.
Actually, with all the negative publicity the 360 has been getting lately over the red rings, this is what they needed. Couple this news with the rumoured price drop, and they have a pretty good marketing campaign to overcome this bad reputation that the 360 is starting to gain. _________________

You'll get the full experience on your 360, strictly because Microsoft paid $50 million for it to be that way.
Still getting the PS3 version.
Edit: Sorry I accidentally wrote $450 million.

Where did the '4' come from? It was only (ha!) $50 million wasn't it?
Unless it runs better on the PS3 then I'll be sticking to the X360 version - rumble, achievements, well implemented online (if they do include any MP that is), and the extra chapters speak louder than tradition.
Of course, if it does run better on the PS3 then the 360 version can go to Hell _________________

LOL Of course they'll say buy the 360 version because Microsoft is giving them US$50 million for the bonus content
I'm getting both the 360 and PS3 versions anyway _________________ RIP Buddha 19/10/1952 - 03/01/2004

Amen, I always read comments because they contain so much humor.
I'll still get PS3 version, strictly because I prefer the controller scheme. _________________

Well said Frozen (you too Jim). The only reason (as we are being shown by the games being identical) for the 360 version to be better in any way is the content, which M$ are paying through the nose for. Big deal imo.
The extra content is reasonable irrelevant, the genral consensus seems to be that if the PS3 version runs better, then that is the one to get, which is perfectly logical. There is also the control scheme to consider, which is something else to factor in.
It's obvious that they are just saying this because M$ told them to, and they feel they should ($50 million will do that). _________________

I highly doubt that the PS3 verison will run any better. Rockstar most likely started development on the 360 first (and why they are showing all footage thus far on the 360) and since the 360 is generally easier to develop for I'd assume it will be the most polished. While I'm sure they will be framerate issues on both platforms we can safely assume they will be the same as an overall product. If anything the PS3 verison will end up being inferior graphically.
Bar rumble, achievements and downloaded 'episode' content for the PS3.
While I don't plan to buy GTA4 I believe the 360 verison will be the verison to get. _________________ Shin J Leon.

So the promise of more gameplay content is irrelevant when considering which version of a game to purchase?
They claim the game plays identically between the two consoles, which seems questionable to me. I'd expect there to be at least small differences between the two platforms. If, on the off-chance, the PS3 version runs far and beyond better than the 360 one then I'd go for that and then try and pick up the 360 vers. later on for the DLC. However, given the more likely scenario that the two versions play comparably then I'll get the 360 without a doubt.
It'd really take a major difference in quality for me to choose the one that will (eventually) have less gameplay.

From what I read at IGN, the most recent demo to the press was running on PS3 hardware and not 360. _________________

To be completely honest, the only reason I'm getting it on PS3 over the 360 is because I want to put my shiny expensive new console to use, you know?
It'd be great to get it on 360, so I could chat to my friends while I play and have a more confortable controller. I just really want to put my PS3 to good use.

We all know you don't like M$, and if that is the sort of thing you are going to contribute to this board then don't bother.
Just looking at the bold, what sort of sentence is that?
I would find it hard to predict the PS3 version running in any considerable better fashion, M$ wouldn't pay that for an inferior version, extra content aside.
Seeing as I don't have a PS3 it's all good for me. _________________

Trust me, i know
I'm holding out for some of the delicious looking exclusives with the PS3 - unless a game runs better, or features more, I'm likely going to stick with the 360 as my primary console for multi-platform releases. For the time being, at least. _________________

I didn't even notice that in Ad's post Crobag, believe me, I only skim his posts nowadays, its usually just filler.
I would much rather the 360 controller over the Sixaxis anyday. I would have to be, by far, the best, most comfortable controller I've ever used.
Me and Slappy go like 8 hours, or more, straight on Gears with absolutely no problems.
Sixaxis, an hour and I gotta give it a 5 minute break due to cramping.
As long as you understand my reasoning Karai, then I feel a bit better. I want to see the damn thing getting pushed, want t make it work hard, even maybe sweat..

QFT!
Personally I prefer the Ps3's buttons but I like the layout and joysticks on the 360 one. I'll pretty much be getting the 360 version because although I don't plan on getting the downloadable content it would be good to have that option if I ever decide to. _________________

That's it in a nutshell.Atm, unless your a real big gta head you won't get the mission packs, especially since they'll propably end up being sub-par and over priced. But if they are good and or ever become free to download, having the 360 version makes sense. _________________

I don't see why anybody would get the PS3 verison if you had a 360? Same price, same graphics. At least you get achievments, rumble and possible awesome downloadable content on the 360. _________________ Shin J Leon.

/\yeah baffles me as well.
That downloadable content is the winner for me.
Man I can't wait for this game, that preview sounded absolutely awesome with well made changes especially to the cover technique as well as the search radius of the police after causing a disturbance.
They had better clean the frame rates up as well as at the moment it looks horrendous.Something will surely have to be sacrificed to clean up the FPS surely though whether it be some less litter/debris flying around, lighting/shadow complexity tweaking or less people walking around.
*crosses fingers* I have high anticipation for this one. _________________

I hope they don't have to detract anything to clean the framerate up.
They still got time, quite a bit of it at that, the get it running smoothly.

It's worth noting there is no general consensus on GTA IV running better on the ps3, in fact the game hasn't even been shown running on the ps3 yet, complete nonsense.

I just double checked the articles I read (latest impressions on GTAIV at IGN and 1up) to defend my claim of them being shown on PS3 hardware, and as it turns out they don't mention what the demo was running on at all - its just that both articles I read were under the PS3 sections. _________________

Yeah I noticed that too and was under the thought that it was the PS3 version that they were showing the preview on...Bloody IGN rushed crap. _________________

Hate the PS controls. I didn't mind them back when the PSX was the standard, but my hands have grown alot since then. Now they make my hands cramp after a short time. The control sticks are pretty meh compared to the 360 and the button placement feels foreign. However, I think the Wii controller, even if it didn't have the motion or pointer kafuffle, is the best. Having half the controller in each hand feels really comfortable.

I've always been for gameplay over graphics, combine that with both my being much more used to Xbox controllers than PS ones and the 1k achievement points, I'll certainly be buying the 360 version. _________________
