^@Karai Pantsu Hmm... okay then. Guns always have the intentions to harm people, cars and animals don't, which sorta makes your comparison pretty crappy.
Anyway, probably the only real thing that ticks me off is people's misconception of dreadlocks. Apparently, dreadlocks mean you're a bum and don't know how to wash yourself.
And I might not know how to wash myself, but I'm certainly no bum!

Yeah, you do tend to get that with tongue-in-cheek overreacting at an overreaction style posts.
The point still stands - they're toys. They're not designed to harm someone, and the with the laws we have on just what kind of 'toy guns' can be sold (legally) in Australia 99% can not harm someone (outside of the odd nasty bruise you might get if clubbed with one).
If any child grows without an understanding that the actions they're emulating from movies/games with their toys would translate into injury and/or death in the 'real world' with real guns then that is a failing of the parents to provide their child with a base level of understanding about life.

I played with guns in my child hood, And I grew out of them as I think many other children do. I mean I guess I have turned out normal enough to not go on a shooting rampage or even buy a gun.

Same here, and I think that sort of thing is far more appropriate. With toy guns, there is also a factor of desensitisation, the danger of guns is diluted in their minds because they are thought of as fun. If you've been playing with guns since you were a kid, then it's not a big step from there to feeling nothing as you watch someone getting shot in a movie for example. Guns should be feared, not toyed with.

Everyone at my school played with toy guns, they had to ban it. I don't believe that it has any negative effects, its just playing. Who hear didn't play cops and robbers when they were younger? Or cowboys and indians ( i never played that, seems more american i guess).

^ personally i think that's all horse-s**t.
it's not desensitisation to the guns that's the hard part, it's desensitising them (soldiers/people) to the gore and "horrors of war" elements.
it's this factor that is why generals of guerilla soldiers (militia-esque armies - untrained soldiers in other words) show their soldiers really ultra-hardcore-pornography just before combat - it's a form of desensitisation.
but, i doubt i'm going to change anyone's mind here, so it's a moot point.

However don't you think that this would be a good way to separate a kids mind from real and virtual worlds essentially training there mind for other things they are going to deal with throughout life.
It seems like you are very anti-gun considering (atleast in Victoria) it is not an easy thing to get your hands on a Firearm.
Kids need to have fun to develop a healthy mind. They are just playing a more advanced game of tiggy, before this kids would throw rocks/acorns at eachover to make the game more entertaining, and now we move on to virtual scenerios where children are instead substituting video games for this social activity.
It is jall just harmless fun, that does more good then evil.

Personally I see nothing wrong with playing with toy guns, but at the same time I can see people's points of view where they are against it. I dont think it desensitises people against guns. I'm sure most kids here played war, cops & robberies or cowboys & indians at one time in their lives.

Ad, what's worse?Holding a birght orange plastic gun and going 'pew pew pew' or playing condemned and bashing a hobo to death with a lead pipe, knocking teeth out in the process and then delivering the killer blow via a neck snap?I realise these games are MA bu if you think kids don't play them your deluding yourself.
Your thoughts on desensitisation are moot, if that's the case then you must surely feel the same way about gta and other violent video games?Jack Thompson would lurv you.

I'd hope that my kids (if I had any) would never have to deal with using a gun. I don't think your example is very realistic, just about everything is fantasy for kids, including the toys they play with. They could never know the horror of what guns are really for/what they really do.

One thing that i forgot to mention that annoys the hell out of me is people that stand on the right side on an escalator and block the path of walkers. And slow walkers in the city! Very Annoying!

I feel the same, some people walk sooo slow! I mean, don't they get any exercise? I'm usually walking much more quickly that the people around me. Don't they want to get anywhere quickly? They really start to get in your way.

^ Yeah sorry, I sometimes stand on the right side of escalator and my sister always pulls me to the side. They should make escalators faster so you don't have to bother walking up or down them.

Seriously though, I've seen multiple people fall over into a pile at the top of an escalator because they weren't paying attention

Since when was there a side on escalators for the walkers..? Sure the right side is generally accepted as the 'fast' lane in this country, but on escalators I figure if the person in front of you doesn't want to walk, too bad. Sounds like you need to learn a little patience.

On that note of 'fast lane/slow lane' ignorers - I absolutely loathe all those arrogant c*nts who, instead of letting people out of an elevator/bus/tram/train/etc. before getting on, just try to push their way on as soon as the doors open. I mean, what the shit are they thinking? If you want to get on then you have to let other people get off so that there is room for you, you twats. I was actually pinned into an elevator and taken for a 5 level joy-ride once because of a pack of pricks doing that. They just crammed in before I could even start walking out. If I'd had room to move my arms I just might have smacked their stupid bobble heads together. So now I make a point of taking up as much room as I can and shoving people aside when they try it.

That's kinda like asking someone if you can go through their emails. If you've got nothing to hide, why don't you let people look through your email.
Speed cameras are good except when they think your speeding and you're not.
