We absolutely knew that George Lucas was not done with the Star Wars universe. The Star Wars creator revealed to Fox News that he will make two more live-action Star Wars films.

“But they won’t have members of the Skywalker family as characters,” he said. “They will be other people of that milieu.”

The two “extra” movies will probably be one hour in length and made for television.

At the one hour length, what will differentiate the upcoming hour-long live-action Star Wars television series from the films? Wouldn’t it be a good idea to make them a bit longer?

I can feel Lucas squeezing the teet that is his fans for more money as these movies will no doubt get a dvd release after they come onto TV, plus advertisers money etc.

i heard about this a while back, but it was in an interview regarding the TV series, so i got the impression it was like a mini-series to lead into the series, Battlestar Galactica style.

It won't be a feature film as they need to be longer than an hour, 120 minutes is the average length. I would like him to move on to other things as he has the power to do pretty much any project he wants.

He needs to do other projects that show how much of an innovative filmmaker he is, regardless of what you think of his directing ability, his main area of expertise is in the editing and crafting of a film. He's better at the pre and post production aspects of filmmaking.

^ Too true. Lucas seems to be the only filmmaker who can actually seemlessly pull off wipes. So much so that you don't even notice they're happening.

If he could focus on the look of a film and get another director on board to deal with actors there is no reason his next project couldn't be the greatest film of all time. He just can't seem to get a good performance out of an actor.

George Lucas needs a smack. From 1997 backwards Star Wars was my god. Then the whole 'Han shot second' debacle, and you know how it goes from there.

Hopefully if he's making new ones it means he'll be done butchering the Original Trilogy.

The reason he can't get a good performance out of an actor, by the way, is because he is utterly unable to write dialogue. It's as if he's never had a conversation with a person. The only way I'd like to see more Star Wars is if he wrote a basic plan for it, but had someone else direct it and someone else write it.

I thought they were doing a 22 series tv show?

Lucas needs to leave this alone and stop playing havoc with my childhood!

He has mentioned that he was moving into TV years ago, but like Obs, I wasn't really expecting something like this. I was expecting something along the lines of a mini-series much like Band of Brothers.

But the milking won't stop. For the last year or two Lucas has been working with companies to remake the original trilogy with holographic cinema... or something along those lines.

For all I care though, the franchise finished at Return of the Jedi.

I remember that, with the 3D glasses and whatnot, with Speilburg and Copola.

Lucas should focus on one thing... Indy 4.

actually, i knew about the proper TV series (actually, there's 2 series coming, one CG cartoon, and 1 live action) i just meant that i had also heard about the 2 telemovies as well, but assumed they would be like a pre-cursor to the series, like how Battlestar Galactica remake started with a telemovie/miniseries, and then went into the series proper.
