I used to play this on the Apple IIGS. It was an amazing game back then, but come on guys $25 is way overpriced for the game in the year 2007, even with a rouch of paint. $15-tops $20 is more acceptable. From memory there was a remake recently-ish too.

Ahahaha. I remember this game. I played it on my old B&W crappy little mac (which I still have in perfect working order). Man I'd love to play this again but $25, I could by much better games for much less. If it were free, then maybe... _________________ "If ignorance is bliss...then knock the smile off my face!"

You can freely download the original Defender of the Crown from Cinemaware's web site - they have versions for PC, Amiga, ST, Apple, NES etc.

Asking people to pay $25 for something when it's being given away free by it's makers makes not very much sense at all to me.

Defender of the Crown is fantastic. This was one of my favourite titles until Lords of the Realm. I have it on PC DOS, Amiga, and the remastered (2002) version for Win 98.
I think the original 1986 DOS version is (contrary to popular opinion) better than the Amiga even though it is only EGA- the only hassle is you have to run it on a 8086 or 286 with sub 10MHz as anything higher messes up the fencing bit in the go-raiding option.
This new version is not Defender of the Crown - it looks awful. Just go get Defender of the Crown - Remastered as unlike this latest version, the graphics and gameplay remain in tact. If you have the hardware as magrat has pointed out you can also download the DOS version from Cinemaware.
