1up have just posted some impressions on Eternal Sonata, and two videos - one featuring storyline teasers (haven't watched yet) and one featuring some Battle mechanics.
I have to say, this game has just jumped way up on my 'OMG WANT!" list - Its looking very much like Tales of Phantasia in both style and gameplay. However tha main distinction, which looks pretty cool, is that the battle system is both 'active' and 'turn based' at the same time. I kid you not. Each character takes turns at having an active period, goverened by a timer. Moving your character eats up time, attacking eats up time, etc. Watch the battle video to get a better idea of that, you'll also see that it's looking rather pretty.
Apparently Eternal Sonata will be released in Japan and the US at the same time... no word on PAL lands though
Hopefully the US will be region free? _________________

This game looks stunning. Character design is beautiful, I mean look at their faces. The setting is awesome, 1800s equals cool in my books. I wonder how much the dream world will reflect this time period. Will Chopin's compositions be in the game? It would be awesome if the music reflects his developing style and identity as a musician and composer. The backgrounds are lush too!
I love the active battle systems of the 'Tales of ...' series, but wonder if waiting for the enemies to have their turns in Eternal Sonata might get tedious. I love turn-based battles systems, but the enemies turns are usually very quick - the dudes in this battle video seemed to take their time. We will have to see.
This game have been on my 'I want' list for quite some time now, so I will be one sad panda if it doesn't get a PAL release. What are the chances of a release on PS3? That might help out with region-coding issues if the horrid need arises.
Also, she hits people with a brolly? Too cute! _________________

Game is looking pretty good. It's got to have the best cel-shaded style graphics I've ever seen. Both the characters and environments looks stunning. The battle system sounds pretty interesting, hopefully it works well.
Please be a PAL release or Region free _________________

Yeah, I'm hoping for some cool integration of Chopin's music with the game - but it sounds like (heh) the only use of it so far is with that little music mini-game they mention. Which is going to be a bit difficult for me given I never learnt to read sheet music
I'm with you on the battles part, but it looked like you had the chance to actively defend during the enemies attack phase(s)? I could be very wrong there, but that would help to keep you focused on the task at hand
Given that we're getting Blue Dragon I doubt that we'd miss out on ES, the problem is how long we'll have to wait for them to complete the translation and release a PAL vers. Here's hoping it doesn't get delayed too much. _________________

It's looking very pretty. I remember seeing screen for it a long time ago but never really payed any attention to it, mainly because it has one of the most tragically clichéd names ever, but after reading it's preview in this months Hyper, I've had a change of heart.
It looks great on as a screen but in motion it really comes to life. I'm really liking the premise of the game too. It has a good chance of becoming emotionally investing, but only if the character are done right. I'm also very into the battle system too. I much prefer the hands on approach to RPG battles rather than setting up a series of commands and letting the computer do all the fighting for you. The action defend is also a nice touch.
I'll be keeping an eye on this game. _________________

It looks pretty cool, and there aren't too many PS2 RPGs on the way to compete with it, so I'll probably import this one. Tri-crescendo have a good record in my books, and the concept is cool. _________________ Playing: 30sec Hero, Scribblenauts, Dungeon Crawl

Chopin influence + that art direction = win, as far as I am concerned.
IGN have also had videos recently and yeah, it's looking gorgeous. I have been looking forward to it for quite some time and I'd even say that I am anticipating it more than I am Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. Speaking of which, apparently this game (and Lost Odyssey) are being prepared for worldwide releases so with any luck/chance, we shall be getting both LO and ES when the US do. I certainly hope so. _________________

Yeah, I was reading the IGN impressions yesterday arvo and did a bit of a double-take when I saw they mentioned a 'worldwide-release'. Still, I'm not getting my hopes up just yet - not until I start seeing some release dates anyway. _________________

They be bonkers not to release this game here... it looks too good. Still, I'm new to the 360 scene and don't know much about PAL release history... is there a lot of stuff we don't get down here?
Also, how common is it for there to be region free US NTSC games? _________________

1. In the past it was a lot more common for us to not get games here in PAL land and it continued to happen even in the last generation with games like Katamari Damacy and I believe XenoSaga II not releasing here at all. It will continue during this generation too, but not as much as it has in the past.
2. 360 wise, I think 70-80% of the games are region free. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but yeah it seems to me like the majority of the titles are region free. _________________
