Well the new season starts in about 3 weeks so I was looking for any interest in NRL tipping. Matt3's AFL tipping seems to be going allright and I know there are a few league supporters on PALGN so hopefully this goes allright.
We'd probably be looking at 1 point for each correct tip (.5 if somehow golden point doesn't find a winner) and 9 points if you correctly tip 8/8 winners.
Please post a responce in this thread if you're interested and suggestions and help are welcome. You don't need to even follow the NRL either, I'll post the games each week and you can just guess the winners and PM back to me. Hey, at like 25 games a year, you could manage to spam up a higher postcount. OK so it's obvious admeister and I are in; who else? _________________

I would be in but the best way to do this is start your own comp on www.oztips.com.au That would be the best way to keep track imo i would be in
you can create your own comp and stuff it's a really good website to do this. It will keep everyone scores it has a ladder you can even say how many points you get for a win/loss or draw really great imo _________________

I was going to post up a thread about the same damn thing. This is a great idea. I think it will work best if, like narutofanx10 said, we have a website to sort it all out. Then this thread can be the chat about who you are backing etc. Otherwise it's an absolute bitch to go through each post to get each person's tips and put it in the spreadsheet. Also the whole 'keeping it a secret' thing for some people.

OK, I'll make a league on oztips in the next couple of days.
I had a quick look earlier and we need to decide some things...
1. Do we want to tip the 3 Origin games?
2. Do we want to tip finals?
3. If yes to 1 & 2, do these weigh as much as normal rounds, or less or more.
4. Are we doing straight tipping, or having teams having point starts. Oztips can do this, eg if Brisbane beats Newcastle 20 - 18 but Newcastle had a 4 point start, then Newcastle would be declared the winning team.
Personally:
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Same weight
4. Straight tipping
Sorry if this is making it too complicated, but these are the questions which the website asks and I thought it would be best to go for the popular oppinion. _________________

1. Yes
2. Yes

4. Straight tipping
(I should have just copied and pasted yours. What a waste of time. Writing this explanation is wasting even more time. There I go again.)
Also, a good idea is if someone is unable to make the week's tips for whatever reason: rather than getting no points, they shall gain the same amount of points that the lowest person received.
I.e if Qbert only gets 2 wins (and lets say 1 win = 1 point) in a round, and I forget to make my tips, I will get 2 points.
Just spelling it out for yall. Hell: we ARE NRL supporters after all, we not so good at maths

I don't think its any more complicated to actually do the tipping Matt3.
And by the way damn that site is cool. In retrospect the AFL tipping probably should have gone their too, actually.
Oh yeah, as for the options, what you picked is fine with me, Analrapist. That being declared the winner when you don't win stuff confuses me. _________________

Yeah I'll be in for this as well, although for some reason the site won't load for me at the moment so I will have to join it tomorrow night. But yeah, I'm in this time.
I need to have opportunity to own Pete again, it's been a while. _________________

EDIT 2: No extra points for tipping a draw? |
If a premiership game is a draw, 10 minutes of extra time is played (golden point), meaning that there is allmost no chance of a draw happening; I don't think there's been one in the 2 or so years that golden point has been around. There's been more draws in AFL recently that NRL!
So I would highly recoment not tipping a draw. _________________
