After reading up about the thought of having a Clubhouse Games tournament here on PALGN. It didn't seem like such a bad idea. Having been involved in a few professional video game tournaments, namly the World Cyber Games, this isn't really new to me. I think the rules and setup stated below could also be used to hold a Clubhouse Games and Mario Kart DS tournament. But, that's with a few alterations here and there.
Metriod Prime: Hunters
PALGN Tournament
Rules:
1a Each match will consist of three battles and will utilize a best of three format.
1b In the event of a tied match at the end of the third battle, a fourth and deciding battle will take place.
1c If the match is still tied after the fourth battle. The number of kills will be tallied up and the player with the highest number is declared the victor of the match.
Note: The following rules depend on the total number of players who decide to enter this tournament.
2a Tournament combatants of similar rank will be placed into groups and allowed to compete against one another. For example, one and two star ranked players will be placed into one group while three and four star ranked players will be placed in another group and so on.
2b Each player will face off against the other combatants in the group. Basically, a round robin affair.
2c One point is given to the victor while the loser receives no points.
2d The player with the most wins at the end of the round robin group stage advances to the final to battle it out between the victors in the other ranked groups. For example, the winner of the one and two star ranked group will verse the winner of the three and four star group and so on.
3. Any of the six hunters may be used in the competition. However, players cannot change from one hunter to another in between the breaks that occur during the three battles.
4. Players have one week to organise and face off against another tournament combatant from the same group. Please make use of either an instant messenger service or private message system to arrange the match. Allocating the three arenas in which the battles will take place on as well as the day and time of the match fall under this section.
5. It is recommended that players keep in touch via an instant messenger service throughout the match to insure a good, stable wireless connection is maintained. Qbert, I'm looking at you.
6. Any form of cheating will result in instant disqualification.
7. Forum topics shall be created throughout the tournament for players to post match results. This should make it easier to track the progress of certain players and figure out who is versing who the following week.

Maps:
Most of the maps in Metroid Prime: Hunters were mainly created for free-for-all deathmatch battles in mind. Very few of the arena included in the game offer balanced gameplay for duelling. The maps choosen apart from Processor Core offer either tight or open areas with very few hiding spots. This should result in high scoring games that flow quite freely.
Additionally, most of the selected arenas offer certain sections that can be controlled, yet be taken back with the right tactic. In other words, a more balanced battles can take place other than one player completely dominating the opponent. Compression Chamber is a fine example of an unbalanced arena, mainly due to the fact that most of the important items are located in one section. Hence, the reason why this arena is not included in the below list.
Alinos Perch
Combat Hall
Incubation Vault
Outer Reach
Processor Core
Sanctorus
Stasis Bunker
Transfer Lock
Game Mode: Battle
Pointlimit: None
Timelimit: Seven minutes
Advance Options:
Show Hunters On Radar - Off
Damage Level - Medium
Friendly Fire - Off
Available Weapons - Default Weapons _________________

If there is anything I have missed please feel free to add any comments regarding the rules. Maybe, prizes, but that's if there are enough entrants.
As for the arenas, I think eight is enough for a tournament. Most professional tournaments normally only support either four or five.
Please register for the tournament in this thread. _________________

This sounds like a great idea. Pity I am not on a fast enough conection to enter. How about you use the newly formed PALGN IRC channel instead of MSN. It would be a lot easier to get things setup and not everyone uses MSN. _________________

Sounds great. Although depending on the number of people entering, it might be wise to have a single 1-star group, a 2+3 star, and a 4+5 star. _________________

One thing that I would like to see is enough players register and maybe someday down the track hold either a two-on-two team deathmatch or capture the flag tournament. _________________
