An Aliens RPG produced by Sega? Could be promising! I'll have to keep an eye on that!

A Facehugger appears!
Facehugger attacks! Player is infected!

Seriously though, I really think that an Aliens RPG could be a good game. There's a pretty cool and well established universe to build an story in, so long as it's all done carefully.

i agree yeah

I am really excited by this, but will contain my excitement until the end of 2007. Ever since that Alien project was ditched I've wanted to see another Aliens video-game. I hope they can get the voice actors from the films because that would add to the authenticity.

"We're in some real pretty shit now man!"

i was actually wondering how an Alien RPG would be pulled off, the pacing of the films doesn't really suit the general pacing of an RPG.

i thought initially it might work as a similar plot as the first or third films, but then with only one xenomorph, it seems a little less likely:
"You Killed: Xenomorph
You Gain 550 Experience."
then what? you've just killed the only enemy.

however based on Aliens, or Alien Resurrection wouldn't suit the pacing, like i said. those were more based on panic action. as survival horror games, they would work fantastically (AVP2 had this element for the Space Marine campaign, worked well), but i don't see an RPG working, as such.

i guess a hack-n-slash style RPG might work on the 2nd/4th films, but it'll run the risk of appearing too much like StarCraft, or at the very least, competing against it.

regardless, i'm excited. i love the Alien series, and more games is A-OK with me.

Wow I loved Alien Vs Predator and Primal Hunt on PC. It will be interesting to see a good graphic Alien FPS, might turn out something like doom! And a RPG? Will be interesting to see how that turns out!

AvsP and its sequal were exceptional. It was like Starcraft in First Person (I mean the variety of play types). I do agree with Obsolete though, I can't really imagine how this would work, Aliens worked well as an adventure (that old game rocked) and it would also be a brilliant survival horror title. RPG not so much, unless of course it was a survival horror with RPG elements (upgradable weaponry, armours, openended structure, etc), that could definitely work.

That got me thinking - you know what Aliens would be perfectly suited to? That action/SRPG hybrid style of gameplay seen in the early XCOM games, and more recently Rebelstar: Tactical Command on GBA. Although I wonder if that's a viable choice for a (assumedly) big-budget game these days?
