Come on now fellas. The only way to get better is to keep trying. You really think everyone that has entered so far could do what they did from the get go? (El Taco not included )
I say put it up anyway. That way we can all give advice on how to help you out. _________________

Exactly, it's not the end product that really matters, if you are improving your skills and gaining knowledge, you've lost nothing.
Also the responses with "no time" remaining, unless for personal reasons, there is really no other deadline till the end of the month now.
Put it this way, I can't draw very well... well worse than that actually, I can't draw period, heck even my handwriting is very messy. My artistic side is very... well crap, and yet I still try. Sure I've been using graphics programs for more than a few years now, but I had really, really bad designs, even for avatars and signatures back in the day.

Hey Admeister I was wondering what Uni you're going to because a friend of mine is starting Bachelor of It (Multimedia) at Berwick Monash this year.
Soon enough you shall have my entry. I shall win! maybe.......... _________________

Nice one man .. I'd say the images blend to well into the green .. might want to chose another blend mode so they stand out a bit more . _________________

Yeah they do . thing is bringing out some of the original color of the images would give the skin more of a variation in color. _________________

Next contest has already been decided, and will go up in the new month, but basically you're just wanting to use pixelized graphics?

I don't know why I'm doing graphics while on leave, a glutton for punishment I guess.

Dare, you're attempt is a solid step in the world of unending learning that is Photoshop. I taught myself playing with it, reading the occaisional tutorial and mostly by doing things the hard way until I learned a better way, this is still the case.
This thread has become less of a 'design a skin' competition and more of a 'design a custom ds using your mad photoshop skillz' competition - some of the sexier ones dont really fit the original brief. The Max Payne and NOLF would work really well as vinyl overlays (the second especially if you could score a peach DS!) The elements fit the space really nicely.
So Dare. Points for execution and points for choosing images that would make a fine skin for any Mario freak. You can mostly see their eyes and Mario's hand works well in the gap between the screen. I do find it a bit busy, but I level the same criticism at mine.
