I would like to know what everyone's biggest pet hates are. I know I enjoy a good rant, so it makes sense that everyone else would. I'll start you off.
1) People giving away story points to me. I don't really know why, but this just makes me so angry...
2) Racists. I have always felt that other races are just other people, no different to you or I. People who are racist actively, I find difficult to respect.
3) THOSE BLOODY CELEBRITY MAGAZINES!!! They piss me off really bad. Why can't they just leave them alone! People who read them are ok i guess, I just refuse to read them myself

I think moptop means giving away the story of a game or movie before he's played/seen in.
I'll tell you what I hate, the fact that I have to wait untill xmas before I get to play the Wii. _________________

You don't have to read them when they put them out on the table in the waiting room.
Mine...

My first two are exactly the same. Though I'd remove "excessive".
My third is probably American pop-culture. _________________

Some good calls: Racism and three pronged forks grate me too. American pop culture is built on trash which does not appeal to me either. But my big three are:
1) Excessive product packaging - fk!
2) Brown nosers - Ha!
3) fake landscaping: (concrete wood, rocks, and plastic palm tree's) ik!

^^ Yep, Thats what I was going to say. I have a big thing against Religion. The majority of the people are fruity loops and how can anyone possibly comprehend the divine. Its quite silly really. _________________

Nothing wrong?! Eeeeuw! - particularly the shiny plastic palms when there is an inch of dust on the leaves. Ticky tacky drives me whacky.
Palm Tree hate thing automatically applies to the Bush as he is fake too.

I hate when people make up statistics on the spot.
By the way, did you know that 89.8594% of statistics are made up on the spot. ....... _________________

No, seriously, we do have pets. Most people have dogs or cats.

In order of pissing-me-off-ness...
1. Religion. Make that, fundamentalist religion. It's all well and good for people to have their beliefs, but start trying to shove it down my throat or go to war over it, and you can go sit on the sharp end of a samurai sword for all I care.
2. Racists. I like to think I hate everyone at an equal level, wait that's not true. I certainly don't single out the colour of a person's skin, I instead single people out and chastise them for being idiots. So I guess I hate idiots. I wonder if there is an "ist" for that?
3. Governments in general. Especially ours at the moment. Yes, I think it's great that The Glasshouse is being cancelled because they express negative sentiment towards the Howard Government. If you stopped ****ing winning elections maybe they would focus on someone else. Oh wait, I forgot, we're living under a totalitarian government, good job guys, Sir Joh for Prime Minister (although from what I hear of Queensland's current premier it's not looking much better up there, so put Mr Beattie as his advisor)!

it seems most of you got what i was referring to, but now that i've got a bit more time, i'll expand on my answer before, and add some proper 2s and 3s.
faith and religion seem to be mutually exclusive, i have no issue with people having some form of spirituality, but the hypocrisy of organised religion really annoys me.
another thing that really annoys me is decreasing separation of church and state. the church (any church, i don't care the faith) has NO place in politics.
unfortunately the religious types are easiest to identify and appease, and usually contain a decent number that make them worth appeasing from the POV of votes, so polititians keep them happy.
(i haven't seen Andrew Denton's film, but i want to, it looks as though it focuses on this in the US electoral process.)
isms also annoy me. Racism, Sexism etc. (might sound hypocritical since i pretty much identified myself as a Religionist). i really don't understand why people think that another person's skin colour, accent, hair colour, gender, sexuality or, yes, even religion/faith has any bearing on what that person's character is.
unfortunately though, even though i try be open-minded, there are the odd occasion that i paint someone with the wrong brush, and it is often not until much later that i realise what i was doing.
finally, the over-emphasis of sport in our society. seriously, what makes someone who can piff a ball well so good? why does the ability to kick a ball give someone the right to be an arrogant twunt?
i used to work near the training grounds of one of our state sport teams (come to think of it, i now work next to the grounds of another sport's team, but i haven't had a run in with them.) and a workmate was absolutely enamoured with the team, i couldn't tell one of their players if they farted on me, so i would call them out for various social faux-pas' (like i do any rude behaviour) only to have him apologise to them on my behalf because i didn't recognise them. seriously, WTF?
if you don't want to be called out in public, act like a human being ffs.
(obviously doesn't apply to all sports-people, i'm sure i've probably seen some of them behave in a socially acceptable manner, you know, normally. why should sports be an excuse for behaving badly?) _________________

I hate advertising.
Probably because I work in marketing.
You know why there are celebrity magazines? In fact, magazines in general? Do you know why Bec Cartright gets paid by woman's day to talk about her children? Because people will buy adverts if they're interleaved with the latest celebrity gossip. Do you know why channel nine puts on a washed up Aussie celebrity, pop culture regergitating, mildly tittilating stock footage show hosted by Bert Newton?
Whats the message? Buy! Buy! Buy! Advertising has conditioned a generation to be consumerists and the trickle on effect is the end of the world.
People who cant get their past participals right.
Technology
I dont know about you but the lack of any kind of convergent thought in consumer electronics does my head in. All the dongles and chargers and memory storage devices that simply aren't compatible with eachother is rediculous. Mobile phone user interfaces are hackneyed at best. For a device largely used every day the number of features has balooned and the UI is still in the dark ages, the answer is not adding more buttons! I for one am sick of writing SMS and too stingy to make a call. When I retire my brick I want a mobile that will make the whole process less painful. Have you seen that some mobiles have a neat keyboard... a QWERTY keyboard! WTF? QWERTY was designed to slow typists down so typewriters wouldn't jam, and here they're trying to palm it off as something you use with 2 thumbs? I want a specifically designed 2 thumb keyboard, not some fucking relic! Digital cameras? My god they cost a cool grand, how about thinking about the interface for five minutes?
May I suggest anyone who agrees read 'The Salmon of Doubt' by Douglas Adams.

I wouldn't say I hate it, but I don't like relgion. If god existed, i'm sure it would come up to me and tell me. Religion has caused senseless wars. Throughout history, the catholic church has condemed so many smart people. End then there is terrorism based on religion. I'm not going to even start with that.
I think the world will be a much smarter place when people are no longer religious. It is okay for people to have there own beliefs, that's just how people are raised by their parents. The graduall phase out of religion may never come though. _________________
