Has anybody else here been sent a free copy of Star Fox Command for DS? Today I got a package which said that I've been selected to sample a bunch of DS games before they're released I'm sooooo excited! _________________

Yes please more info
I think the free stuff must have something to do with you working for Nintendo awhile ago
(why couldn't i have worked there for 'work experience'? I reckon it would have been pretty fun, plus i want some praise from Nintendo, it seems winning that Mario Anniversary Tour wasn't enough )
What more do u want from me?! *screaming to the heavens*
If you don't want the game i'll gladly take it off your hands (Starfox Command looks like a pretty good game, and got pretty good reviews also)
(dammit, i'm sounding like DIU was during the 20th Anniversary of Mario thingies ) _________________

I literally just came home and there was a package containing the game. The letter says:
"...You have been selected from a long list of Nintendo fans to receive samples of some of Nintendo's best games before they are released in stores ... not every Nintendo game released will be sent to you, but from time to time you may receive a special surprise in the mail..." Apparently all of the games they send are full versions too.
The game is AWESOME! At first the controls seemed pretty yuck but you get the hang of using the stylus. You have no idea how glad I am that I did work experience there.
Also you must remember that I am from a demographic that Nintendo are specifically trying to target by using pink consoles etc. That's probably a major reason why they chose me. _________________

^ Ohhh, thats cool Freswood
The offer still stands, any games you don't want to keep plz send them my way
Good to hear about Starfox Command, I'll probably end up ordering the game from the states, as long as there wouldn't be any problems with the game being US coded, and played through Wifi here in Australia
I still want free Nintendo stuff though....
If getting free stuff means buying a Pink console, I'm there! _________________

So basically, Nintendo sent you a letter saying "as a smart business move, we will send you, a customer who has bought, and will most likely contiNue to buy, our products, free versions of those products for no reason other than to rip some likely profits away from us"?
It is Nintendo Australia though, so I would exactly put it past them. They're certainly... odd. _________________

Doesn't surprise me. She's from a key growth demographic, and the idea is she'll tell all her friends about this. Cheap promotions work for them for whatever it costs them to produce a DS game (chances are it's a miniscule fraction of what we pay at retail), that'll probably work far better than the equivalent amount spent on traditional advertising channels. I mean at most this cost them $20, hell, let's say $30. That'll buy you some really shit advertising space, space that won't do as much as Freswood's blabbering will
To those who say BS, I disagree (respectfully of course ). It's a smart (although hardly new) tactic, and given that Freswood did work experience at Nintendo and was invited to that special DS thing in Melbourne a few weeks ago, it's not all that surprising that she'd be on their list of candidates for such a thing. _________________

This is pretty asw0me. A complete game for free, random selection? I do admit is DOES sound a little.. iffy. I have no reason to distrust, so I will take her on her word for this. Benefit of the doubt and all that.
You know.. back in the day, SONY used to send me free stuff for PSX all the time. I mean ALL THE TIME! I never got full games, just demos. But damn if they were not in the letter box at least once a month. The wierd thing was that they had "seasonal" demo compilations. I would get 4 of them a year to match up with summer, spring, "fall" (Autumn), and winter. Of course these almost always contained virtually the same demos that were sent solo at other times. It was quite amusing.
One day they just stopped. I guess SONY stopped loving me *crys*. I felt so used.. _________________

I believe Freswood, but i'd still like to see some pics...maybe the boxart or something.
I believe her work experience at Nintendo is the key to something like this. _________________

Meh.. I would not bother Freswood. You owe nothing to these arsecrumpets. Let em believe what they want. You do not have to prove anything. _________________

I believe you Freswood. In fact, I'm sitting right here playing the game myself after reading the 'exact' same letter!
Couldn't believe it myself, but hey free games so who cares? Just makes you wonder why they are so willing to send out games to people for free to 'test' them and won't even send review code to PALGN.

How about you send me some free stuff as compensation for the crap I actually spent money on?!

i believe Jibbs owes Freswood an apology.
i must admit though, i was skeptical when i first read it, and assumed it was to do with your work experience with Nintendo. although, i've received free games from Universal Vivendi before, which i assume was based on registering my games (i register all my games, if there's an option to do so.)
and then, there was being randomly sent RE4 for PS2, which i still have no idea where that was from.
/crosses fingers for the future. _________________

Why does Jibbs owe anyone an apology?
The internet is a giant house of lies. Jibbs can, and, more often than not, should, be sceptical. In the end it really doesn't matter, though, does it? _________________
