How much difference does the 2nd stick make? I'm tempted to get the game, but at this stage I'm thinking I'll wait for the US release of the inevitable console redesign so I can have a system for both regions and the stick built in. Mistake? Is it worth getting now? _________________

The reason for the stick is so you can comfortably move and shoot. You can do it without it using either the Gyroscope enabled or using Control Scheme C, but the stick really makes it more comfortable. Keep in mind that Revelations is faster than the other RE's, especially when playing Raid Mode (the game's multiplayer), so you might find it more difficult using classical tank and shoot gameplay.
Plus it gives you extra shoulder buttons that aren't the size of needles.
Downsides is the obvious "should of been implemented from the very beginning", an extra $23 to buy the thing outright in Aus, and it adds weight and size. Not portable at all.
MGS3DS and MH3D (and MH4) will definetely use the 2nd control stick to good use. From the demo I played of MGS, the game plays horribly without the 2nd stick, and I wouldn't be surprised if other new releases such as Kid Icarus make it nearly mandatory if you want a good experience.

I'm pretty sure Kid Icarus only uses it as an option for lefties, and you still need to use the stylus to aim, so it probably wont have much use for the right handed among us.
The pad is okay. It doesn't feel as uncomfortable as it looks, and even though it looks big, I actually wish it had an extra cm or so of bulk next to the new pad. It's in a really goof position and if you're not resting your thumb right you can say hello to thumb cramp.
Works well with RE:R. I don't think it's essential but it does make moving and shooting easier. _________________

Oh, and FWIW, it's almost certain that a twin-stick redesign is coming sometime soon-ish. _________________

I tried the demo without the circle pad, there is no way you could play this game without it. It would not be anywhere near as good.
Soonish in maybe end of year, early next. I doubt Nintendo would refresh until the sales started to dip again. Especially given their boost over last xmas. _________________ Shin J Leon.

3DS has hit 5 million sales in Japan, beating out the Wii, DS and GBA in how long it took.
Talk about a turnaround. _________________

Except I don't think any of those other systems had their RRP dropped by $100 so quickly. Perspective, fanboy. Perspective. _________________

Raise your hand if you own a 3DS.
No bugger off if it isn't a US 3DS.
For those of you remaining, the latest issue of Nintendo Power has announced that Aksys will be releasing the sequel to 999 on 3DS in the US by the end of this year. _________________

Fixed. Admittedly, I'm slightly drunk right now. _________________

A 'New' Legend of Zelda would be super cool. I'm really digging Nintendo's recent retro revival trend. _________________

2D sprite LoZ game? Hell yes. Just replayed Link's Awakening, and still think it kicks the pants off any of the 3D ones.
