Time to jump on the bandwagon now? You know you want to icon_razz.gif.

Don't forget i think you might need a UK account for the dlc....

You don't, Australian accounts can download the DLC even if it's the European/UK version of the game. My copies of Ico/SotC and Arkham City were from the UK and I had no issues downloading DLC.

Some games do have issues where the UK DLC won't work on AU accounts. I know Uncharted 2/3 had that issue.

In terms of graphics I don't think there has been alot of change in the 360 versions of the game, the PS3 version on the other hand has been downgraded quite considerably.

Yeah, that may be the case. The first game was developed with the PS3 hardware and then they decided to also release it on the 360 which as far as I know resulted in a slight downgrade in graphics for the 360 version. I believe it had lower resolution textures.

13-2 was developed with both consoles in mind so as a result the PS3 version was more in line with the 360 hardware limitations. I played 13 on the 360 so that's probably why I can't see any difference.

Australian based DLC region locking is rare. I know of less that 5 titles this effects including: Uncharted 2, Modnation Racers and prince of persia '08.

I can see and purchase DLC in game on my UK copy of 13-2. That's on an Australian PSN account. So I'm guessing it's not region locked?

Zzz. 12 hours in, and I find it pretty boring. Don't like the characters. Don't like the side-quest setups. Don't like the new-found freedom because character conversations are really sloppy. Don't like the Mog clock. Don't like not being able to upgrade weapons. The story is confusing and over ambitious. Maybe it gets better, but at the moment I'm not sure if I want to spend 90+ hours on this playthrough like I did on XIII.

I beat the game in 28 hours and that's not all story content.

I didn't really get into the game until like midway Chapter 3, the story and characters only get better from there.

Chapter 3? I'm not really paying attention to the episodes etc. I just entered the Steppes so I'm not sure how close that is.

The story picked up for me partway through chapter 4. The first part of chapter 4 is annoying though.

Fuck me this is so frustrating. Entered the Academia. I seriously cannot comprehend why the devs would force the player through a scene like that. Battling mob after mob after mob of Ghouls. It's incredibly annoying when they die in 3 seconds, but every 10 seconds of running around another mob attacks and you have to go through the entire battle sequence. Again, and again, and again. Seriously wtf. It's not fun. You don't even get any noticeable CP so there isn't even any motivation to keep doing it. I actually had a massive headache at the end of the sequence.

That was the least enjoyable part of the game for me so far. The place looks stunning and yet they bog it down with that crap. I couldn't explore at all as I was getting attacked every 5 steps and they gave zero CP or Gil. On top of that it took roughly 1 hour to get through. I have to agree; what were the developers thinking?

if you go back there it's a really good grinding spot, 10 sec battles 400cp. I got 10k in about 15mins finding the artefact there.

So I now have 141/160 fragments(including the slot machine one, I did chocobo racing to get the Serendipitous trophy), one paradox ending, 30 'levels' away from completing the crystarium and I'm only just about to fight the final boss...
Should hopefully be relatively simple considering how overlevelled I am. I've made the decision to go for the platinum, I've spent too much time not to go for it.

Good work, fatpizza! icon_smile.gif The last boss shall kneel before you without much effort. The Platinum is totally worth it since you get about 90% of it just going through the process to get the secret ending.

So far I'm only up to Chapter 3 but I've been spending a lot of time leveling my characters, trying to capture monsters, solving the fragments and what not. My impressions so far;
1) a lot of reuse of original FFXIII game assets, i.e. sound, music, locations, characters, etc. I have nothing against this, just pointing it out (and is probably why the game didn't take 8 years to come out)
2) the graphics, on some parts, are noticeably worse. Texture dithering and some god awful textures make me wonder why they can be so bad. Worse yet, and something I really hate, is unstable and sometimes extremely low frame rates. Luckily, they don't affect actual gameplay (I'm looking at you Dark Souls) but it does make for an ugly game. That zone with the giant flans just chugged along at parts for me
3) the story so far is quite interesting and enjoyable. I always love a good time jumping story. I am however not a fan of the poor script writing on some of the sub quests. Seriously, one of the fragments I handed in resulted in an NPC using the words 'poo-poo'... errr?
4) the combat is fun, quick, and exciting. I usually just auto-attack as it is quicker and mostly does the job but do use manual inputs for some roles (syn, sab, med etc)
5) load times! They aren't major and I'm sure most people would ignore them, but seriously, we got hard disks Square, at least give us the option to install the game (and that goes for other developers too)!

All in all, I'm having a great time so far. As I mentioned earlier, I borrowed it from a friend, but it is well worth the $59 some places are asking, but I wouldn't pay full retail price that some places were asking at release.

I still think ToV gives this a run for its money. Square need to rethink where they are taking the FF franchise, personally, I think they should either take it back to its roots or expand their SRPG line (imagine VC mixed with FF...)!

Just finished it and wow, what an ending! I'm absolutely torn, in that I'm annoyed at how it ended because I want to know more yet at the same time I think it's brilliant that they ended it at the exact point they did... I feel so conflicted.

Just entered the Steppes; it looks a lot nice than the other zones. Having a great time so far and the game is really stepping up to the plate. Nothing *fantastic* (ToV is still the gem in my eyes) but xiii-2 is really what xiii should've been.

So far I've collected all the fragments that I could get and my guys are probably overpowered icon_smile.gif

On the subject of monsters, what monsters do you guys recommend for the different roles? Do you have favourites?

I beat the game with a COM, SEN and MED myself. Green chocobo is a good med and well...you can't go wrong with a coloured chocobo for any role.

I've only captured the yellow chocobo so far. I'm using flanitor as my med but usually use a Rav (Serah), Com (Noel) and another Rav as my usual.

Flanitor is a great med, as it's Feral Link skill is very handy. But it's max HP is a bit on the low side(maxes out at about 3300HP). I've been using Cloudburst as my ravager, it's a relatively hard creature to capture but it can be done on the Steppe as well. It maxes out with magic over 1000 and HP around 5700. The key with monsters is the infusion system, for instance cloudburst only has wind and ice based spells, but after infusing him with some other creatures he has all the fire and lightning spells as well.

I used Flanitor right until the end. I also used Flanburg (berg?) as my com. Quick and easy to level up to maximum and had decent stats to boot.

Cloudburst was a pain to find... I used one of the other mechanical ball mobs as my rav for a while (The wind one from the brasha ruins). All the mechanic ball mobs are themed and easy to level up. I suspect they all make good companions for majority of the game.

Funny things is that I never quite figured what to with the syn/sab/sen mobs, so I just let Noel/Serah handle those roles on the rare occasion I needed them.

You can find Cloudburst in the trench near the black gate in the south of the Steppe. He's a fantastic Ravager, best in the game. Fastest casting speed, and a magic stat of 1.2k if you only use Mana materials to level him up. You can get fire spells on him easily enough through infusion, I infused my Boss Munchkin to give him some useful skills.

Can you infuse monsters from different classes? I.e. can you infuse a medic mob with a syn mob and have it cast syn spells?
