They were stocking the 3DS and it was about the same price at launch

i know it says issues with sony, but i think it might have something to do with the PSP rarely getting any software sales due to piracy. i was a regular at E2Games in moonee ponds before they closed down, and i remember them telling me that that stocking the psp cost them thousands, simply because no one bought any games for it after custom firmware began to surface.

might be that other retailers had the same experience and are waiting to see how sales play out before they start stocking it themselves.

Yeah. Maybe they mean Sony are selling it to stores for too much so there isn't much profit to be made from selling it?

It's obviously because Sony have chosen to release every single game digitally for cheaper. 10% discount on games on the psn store.

I'm shancake on twitter btw so thanks for the quote lol

Cost price for the Wi-Fi console is $331, at least where I work.

I actually worked this out last week when I checked the Big W system and found that they didn't have the console listed on their system.

Also, this means that if you're after a 3G Vita your options are now EB, Game, Dick Smith and Vodafone.

So you're getting full RRP (in stores), with no extras, unless you go to Vodafone.

I was on the fence on if I was going to get a Vita at launch...

Seeing that most Vita's will be selling for RRP... I'm out.

I'll just wait a few months/years.

Target and KMart.

Big W.

Watch Dick Smith next. Myer meanwhile, well they didn't even have a videogame section at Myer Chaddy last time i checked.

This just goes to show how much power the supermarkets actually have in this country.

I suppose there'll be even more "exclusive" imports from companies like JBHIFI in the future.

Dick Smith are definitely stocking them. I should know, considering we had them order when I checked our system yesterday. icon_razz.gif

That and they're plastered all over the catalogues, there's mandatory end cap displays in every store, and EAS gate covers and posters with it all over them.

Not saying they're not stocking them, im saying Dick S is already feeling the retail pressure, and Woolworths is a big fish.

My manager has me doing a write up about it to hand out to the staff so they know what the **** they're doing when they sell them.

Across the top: MOST GAMES REQUIRE A MEMORY CARD TO BE PLAYED! NOT TO SAVE, JUST TO PLAY!

Still this makes you wonder how much mark up there is on Ipads, Ipods and 3DS's.

How many preorders did these retailers gather before this announcement?

A maximum of about $10 to $15 across all of them.

I was looking forward to 50ish dollars less than RRP and my staff discount on top of that. Shame.

Dicksmith should still be under retail (even if only by 5ish dollars) I would think. Aside from that I'm not too sure where else would have a decent launch day price for it...

Dammit, so much for the rumours swirling around of Big W having them for $278 on release. (I knew it was a long shot anyway, but a few places had 3DSes for $300, so I thought there might be some of that.)

Usually bugger all. Having worked in retail you'll find that gaming hardware is often sold at very, very close to cost, and sometimes at a loss. Most money is made on accessories. Sony's proprietary Vita memory cards are likely where they make their money.

Also don't make as much money off them as people think. Well, except for places that charge at RRP.

Don't know if its been posted but Game Online have completed sold out of Wifi vitas!!!

I'm guessing this is why Kmart, Big W etc aren't getting them. Must be supply issues.

Put $20 down at my local JB. Apparently the Hive accessories pack is sold out so I'm not getting much for my $350. Oh well.

Got Wipeout/HSG arriving tomorrow and I already have 32gb mem card.

Bring it.

Was the Hive pack meant to be a bonus with the Vita preorder? When I preordered something at JB and they ran out of the bonus, they took my details and gave me a call when they got new stock of it in, you could ask them to do that.
