While the media blackout from the red carpet continues I might just chime in with one last non-award. Truth be told, I actually forgot to post this earlier but whatever, I was upset about Whitney.
This is an interesting award, I don't know what it is for, or why is was voted for, but none the less someone did vote for it so here is the Longest Nose Award.
Could it be a Bill Lawry look-a-like award? Or some kind of Pinocchio reference? Or is it just cos he's a Tapir? Perhaps we will never know.
Regardless the winner is Esposch! And whaddayaknow I have a sig for it:

The red carpet, and very much the world, is buzzing after the recent death of Kanye West. It was an epic stand-off between an army of Kanye’s bodyguards and our very own panel on the main floor where the ceremony was taking place. Miraculously, no-one was injured during their escape and subsequent battle. In an anticlimactic, yet ironic finish, Kanye was fatally wounded when trying to interrupt the very gunfight in which he started. Nobody really seems to care at this point, the Whitney Houston tributes still seem to be flowing, but Kanye seems to have been already forgotten.
With all possible interruptions now out of the way, it’s time to present PALGN’s 2011 gaming awards!
Open this link in a new window for your personalised drumroll sound effect, for added suspense! Press play at the drumroll ques beofre scrolling down to reveal the winner.
Our first set of nominees always love to be ahead of the curve when it comes to new, fang-dangled gadgetry, mixed with the simplicity of pre-historic visuals. If you couldn’t already guess, the first set of awards presented today is for the
Nintendo Fanboy of the Year
And the nominees are:
Cody Giunta
For his continued Nintendo Store Update articles throughout the year.
Jarrod
Nintendo then went "WEYO!" and finally blew the doors wide open at E3. It was pretty mad.
LeonJ
For his love of all things 3DS.
And the winner is….drumroll

Jarrod!
..........................................................................................................
Their hearts race and knees buckle when you whisper the words “Nathan Drake.†They love a good 700MB firmware update which adds…. game stability control or some ****. This year it was a hotly contested category with 4 nominees and was determined by a single vote. In PALGN Oscars history, this has only been won by a single member, can he retain the illusive trophy to become the undisputed SONY fanboy?
SONY Fanboy of the Year
The nominees are:
THEMAN
OH wow this patch. Night and Day. If you haven't played the game, now is the time to get it. GOTY – Uncharted 3
admeister
I just got my 14th Platinum, for FFXIII-2. I'm fairly proud of it. GOTY
ZeroX03
PS3!@!!!!!!!!!!
BurnZ
Eagerly anticipating the latest and greatest in PS3 updates
And the winner is….drumroll

THEMAN!
Yep. Congrats THEMAN, though this post is probably a bit too long; didn’t read for you to notice it, so you may never know that you've won….
..........................................................................................................
Our next group love to spend hours shouting at a Kinect sensor for absolutely no response. They laugh in the face of online subscription fees, and proudly show off their 4 broken consoles to show their ultimate testament to Bill Gates, yes, it’s the
Microsoft Fanboy of the Year
Once again, an undisputed Mircosoft fanboy amongst the PALGN ranks could very well be crowned. The nominees are:
Fetidchimp
seems like a good bit of gear....anybody having any troubles with the piece of s*** yet? –Xbox Slim
LeonJ
Just clocked the game. Sooooooooo good! Polished up to the max. MP is unbelievable – Gears of War 3
G3ck0
I never play my 360 though (haven't played it a lot since I owned a 360 for the first time, 2008 I think?) lol
And the winner is….drumroll

LeonJ!
Although he usually contests it, it’s the consensus amongst the PALGN readers that LeonJ is the undisputed Microsoft master. Congrats.
..........................................................................................................
Our next group of nominees love to compare their ‘steam-peens.’ They put in the hard yards, spending countless hours configuring their settings for that 1 frame-per-second boost on the latest game, which is finally now ‘playable.’ It’s time to announce the most vocal of all fanboys/girls on the forums:
PC Fanboy/Girl of the Year
Grim-One
PixieGirl
Frozencry
And the winner is….drumroll

A massive campaign from PixieGirl as the awards were looming was simply not enough to knockoff our resident winner, Denny, with the largest Steam collection on PALGN and an Eyefinity rig that truly is a setup to frag for.
..........................................................................................................
Hater’s Gunna Hate Award of the Year
For the member who was never pleased, despite the the wealth of games in 2011.
The nominees are…..drumroll:
ANDYBALLINA
For his 75% game (and sometimes console) return rate using EB’s 7-day return policy
GooberMan
And what a hell of a year it was for games. I've been saying for a couple of months that I don't remember an end-of-year with this many quality games since 1997 – I think some of the judges may have been a bit drunk for this nomination.
Benza
Pretty self-explanatory
And the winner is….drumroll

..........................................................................................................
Freelance Award of the Year
When everyone else is out partying of a weekend, this next group of potential award winners are finalising their ‘thesis’ detailing the pros and cons of the latest games, ready for posting in the ‘What Game are you Playing’ thread. The fate of many gaming companies lie in the balance, based on the praising/scathing reviews of these freelance journalists.
And the nominees are:
PixieGirl
Benza
Jarrod
And the winner is….drumroll

PixieGirl!
Your various gaming critiques of last year inspired many-a-purchase amongst the forums. Congrats.
..........................................................................................................
When we’re losing sleep over the latest Diablo game, this next lot are too busy anticipating the latest railroad patch for their train simulators. They refuse to play the latest and greatest in RPG’s, choosing to stick to their Commodore-64 counterparts. Up next is the ‘tastes like chicken’ award for the absolute worst taste in games.
‘Tastes Like Chicken’ Award of the Year
And the nominees are:
admeister
For his continual spruiking of all things FFXIII, Naruto, and Pokemon.
Benza
So there's this Japanese romance simulator, where you end up as the only human at a school for pigeons. This game is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. – Hatoful Boyfriend
THEMAN
Probably the only person in the world that actually made a pre-order for Dance Central 2.
And the winner is……drumroll

Benza!
And that’s it from me guys. I would’ve loved to spend a bit more time with some of the comments and quotes but I’ve been doing nightshifts in Brisbane since our winners were announced, I’ve had to finish writing this up on my morning tea break. The curtain raisers are telling me to hurry things up anyway. Things are starting to heat up at the Oscar’s ceremony as the real awards are now scheduled to be presented by resident funnyman, Crank!

I really liked seeing the nominees.
Glad PixieGirl won the Freelance Award of the Year. <3
These awards always remind me that I don't post in the Nintendo Forum enough. I have 200+ DS games, and have never been nominated for a Nintendo Fanboy award. Then again, I do love me some Sony systems too. Actually, I pretty much go where the RPGs go. I would have loved to see genre Fanboy awards, but I guess that would increase the number of awards given by a great deal. _________________

I am surprised theory wasn't nominated for Nintendo fanboi. He's the first to defend in any anti-Nintendo thread I've bothered to open lately.
(Yeah, I didn't vote, so my own fault really) _________________

Foiled again due to my insignificance! But then I suppose when people throw wads of cash at things only to hate them it triumphs not even bothering in the first place and scoffing at everything since this generation started as overpriced garbage and continues in the same vein where it's only going to get worse as things get more multimedia server instead of gaming console orientated.
Maybe I should have picked baboon instead of Fly, then I could also get away with not having to wear pants around here as well...
