I think we had a thread for this a whlie back, but yeah it's kind of weird how little marketing the games getting.
I'm pretty intrigued for the whole squad loyalty mechanic thing. That seems really interesting. _________________

Yeah my bad If a mod could either merge this with the old topic or delete it that would be awesome thanks.
I think the only thing that could let this game down would be the actual gameplay, from what I understood the shooting on Yakuza Dead Souls wasn't exactly the greatest. Hopefully it all comes together. _________________

I don't know why but I always get the feeling that this game is going to end up like one of those Third person shooters with cool ideas that ends up failing miserablly like Fracture. _________________

Man, I hope not. I'm really looking forward to the game since it's by the Yakuza team. Everything about the game looks good to me, the story, graphics and squad mechanics. I really hope it manages to sell well, even if it has to rely on its pedigree rather than marketing. Sega should really pick up their game, this game has the potential to be a hit, I reckon. _________________

Some news on this;
Binary Domain Delayed A Couple Weeks

Also, I read some previews and they weren't exactly glowing... never a good thing to read in a preview!

I got around to pre-ordering this today. I'm trying not to set my expectations too high for it but I really like what I've seen so far. _________________

Looks like iRobot/Terminator mixed into a decent sounding game.
I'll keep my eye on it. _________________

I downloaded the demo off the US PSN today and played through it. It wasn't really on my radar (despite being developed by Yakuza Team), but now I'll definitely be buying it. It's like an awesome mix of Vanquish (robots!) and Dead Space (dismemberment!) with some unique squad/voice mechanics. The demo wasn't really enough to tell if the Consequence System will live up to its potential, but the voice squad commands were fun to use, and I had no issues with the game understanding every order (using a PS Eye's mic). It's just so much more simple and natural to tell your teammates what to do (or answer them) using your voice rather than fumbling around with button presses. Speaking of controls, the game controls wonderfully, almost as precise as Vanquish (which set the bar in my opinion). I was a little worried seeing as Yakuza Dead Souls has seemed to cop some criticism for janky controls, but no such problem here. Hopefully the story will be great too, early indications (trailers and Nagoshi & co. previous work) point to it being good. The premise is just so intriguing. _________________

I am in agreement, just look at the words they recognise! In fact they won me over when they recognised fuck _________________

I thought that the consequence system was a little too forgiving. Playing on the hardest difficulty level available for the demo, I went out of my way in one playthrough (mission one) to shoot my teammates as often as possible, trying to kill/down them and bring my trust level to rock bottom. I'd even repeat orders as often as possible to annoy them.
Working together with them against the Grand Lancer by shooting the cable to electrocute it and jumping onto its head from the rooftop seemed to be enough for my comrades to place their trust in me again.
The gameplay isn't really anything special but it feels fun to play. It does, at least to me, avoid feeling too generic. The shooting felt good, the guns feel like they had real power behind them and dismembering the robots was pretty satisfying.
It looks like being a fairly good TPS and I'm eagerly awaiting its release. _________________

I dl the demo, wasn't really impressed at all, the gameplay mechanics felt really clunky. But the voice rec was awesome, and I like the trust idea. Think this is something that should be brought into other games such as Mass Effect.
Has a little Alpha Protocol feel to it which to me was a unpraised gem, which was also a Sega title.
Also suprised to hear this is made by the Yakuza team, gives me a idea what the shooting mechanics are going to be like in Dead Souls _________________ Solid Snake is the shit

Alpha had great RPG mechanics (same guys who made KOTOR II, Fallout New Vegas etc), and the dialogue system was great, but the combat was just awful, simply awful. I couldn't get past it and returned it for that.
From the trailers this game sort of looks like its heading the same way? The combat looks a bit average, but everything else is great.
As for the trust thing its definitely an awesome idea, but from what I've seen it seems a bit over the top and melodramatic. Your in the heat of battle about to be overrun and you give an order and the response is "No thanks".

They already did for Mass Effect 2. There's a loyalty system that affects their attitude towards you, and their performance in the final mission. Its probably not as in-depth but it seems to be more realistic to me. If somebody in your squad had reservations about you I can't see them denying orders left and right, they'd be dead in a few minutes. _________________

I played the demo and holy shit the voice recognition was just.... awful. Like... couldn't play the game awful. It was missreading every single word I spoke, and sometimes reading things when I wasn't even talking.
My party kept getting shitty with me cause it kept reading me as swearing a lot even though suprisingly I wasn't. There was no god damm noise. _________________

Mine was a bit like that, I turned up the noise reduction and it kinda stopped, but they still think Faye = okay and they cannot understand me swearing at all. _________________
