Let's start a new thread; one where everyone can talk about their fears.

Here's one for Benza;

2 of my biggies. Even finding these photos I felt the need to look around the room to make sure there wasn't a huntsman watching me somewhere. I'm not sure about the grey alien face though, I've always felt a sense of dread when look at them or watching a movie.

I used to collect spiders as a kid. My brother and I would collect our best spider and pit them together in a fight to the death. The female red back would always win, but once, just once, the Black House won. Awesome stuff. I think I won his donkey kong handheld game that day.

Our friends did this in highschool, called it BWF (bug wrestling federation). One time a skink killed a huntsman with its tail, was rad times.

It's not all spiders, just huntsmans. I'm pretty sure it stems from some sort of trauma that I endured as a child, I can still vaguely remember being chased by a huntsman and coming home one night as a child and seeing the biggest bastard on the roof and it dropping down towards us.

I'm a 21 (turning 22 next month) male, yet I still couldn't remove a small huntsman from the house... I had my mum do it (she was staying at our house). Very emasculating.

They are harmless though, luckily. So if you get cornered by one the only thing you'll get is a bad itch. Just make sure it doesn't go near your crotch.

I know they can't kill me, it's an irrational fear.

OOH OOH OOH! This one too. If I'm being held down I'll start to think if or when I'll be let go and then I'll panic. This hasn't happened as an adult, but when I was younger my brother held me down under a matress and I lost my shit.

Flying. It got so bad I took a the QANTAS fear of flying course last October, wich ended with a flight to Sydney and back. Of the 28 in the group two people didn't get on the flight. I did, but I freak out majorly (it didn't help they were two of the ost turbulent flights I've been on, and that's what gets me).

Been to and back from Sydeny once since and that went much better.

However, the wife and I are taking our two kids (they'll be 3.5 and 2 at the time) to Europe in August, which in total will be....*thinks*...7 flights in total. We've already agreed that I'll be visiting the doctor for something thta will knock me the fuck out on the long haul flights, but I somehow have to hold it together in from of the kids on the short ones. Not looking forward to it.

I just went through a page full of huntsman pictures via Google image, I'm not that bugged by them that I'll scream at a picture... needless to say I did look up at and around the room when I saw your post.

I think I have a fear of the sea too, mildly. When I'm in the water I can't help but think about things that'll get me.

I fear moths and metal coat hangers.

I am also scared of the dark, somewhat. heh

Oh, and ghosts. And balloons.

Huntsmans creep me out. I am compelled to get rid of one, if I know it is in the house. I can't kill them though, I catch them and put them outside. The process of doing that can take a while.

I have irrational fears of phone calls, deep water and ghosts/weird phenomena. Nothing along the lines of panic status or anything like that though. I don't think I really have any huge fears though, although I haven't been in deep water for about 20 years, so who knows how that would go.

I understand the balloons fear, it's all about the fact that they can pop (sometimes without warning). It's understandable enough. Sudden, loud noises can be scary.

Out of interest, how deep would you class as 'deep water'?

I'm just wondering cos I have a brand new Kayak I'll be trying out this weekend on the bay and I may take a nephew or two for a tour.
