Correct. Not sure what the point is, though. He has been permabanned about three times this year already. Now he's all mates with Roland... so... unsure what to do. If we go by the rules, he should have his permaban reinstated.

Roland, I find it highly offensive that you would slag off the moderating team on this site who have effectively managed one of Australia's largest gaming communities for 10 years. The site has been almost 100% clean of bad language and anything that would be perceived as offensive to community standards for all of that time, until the last week. The change in the last week has been the removal of access rights for the vast majority of the administration and moderation team, thus removing their ability to deal with it. To degrade the volunteers that have run this site for a decade based on events that occurred after you or your associates removed their access is plainly wrong, and insulting to the service they have provided.
Whilst you may then try to apportion blame to the remaining moderators that would be misguided. We had a large moderation team to cover the various timezones in Australia and acknowledge that we all have different working hours and other commitments with our time. As I've said, we are volunteers so a moderation team of some size was required to ensure that there would be someone available as often as possible to take care of any issues.
For 10 years, that worked well. Now, the team has been crippled and the effectiveness of the moderation team severely hindered.
To aid in the work of the moderators, given the amount of time it takes to review all new posts on this forum to ensure that they comply with the rules, we implemented a "reporting" system several years ago. This allowed any user of the site to report a post that they felt was offensive or in some way contravened the rules of the site (to which there is a link at the top of every forum page).
In the past 24 hours, for example, I have seen only 1 post that has been reported. I investigated that post and found the claim was incorrect. I was not able to close that report as my browser timed out, but it appears another moderator has done so. The only inference I can draw from that is that the community as a whole has not found many posts worthy of report for investigation by moderators.
Again, I must reiterate that your unwarranted and unsubstantiated attack on the administration and moderation of this site is insulting to those who have given hundreds of hours of their time to build this community to what it is (or was, until recently).
I feel I must also directly address the cause for your slanderous and insulting attack on those volunteers, being the 'treatment' of FalconDude.
He first came to the attention of moderators in January 2011 when there were allegations of a user abusing FalconDude via the private messaging system (who I will not name as they were permanently banned). It was investigated thoroughly and discussed between the whole moderation and administration team. Action was taken to ban that user. FalconDude was the 'victim' in this instance and we took action to enforce the rules in his favour. Consequently, an claim that moderators have been biased against FalconDude is utter nonsense.
For many many years now, PALGN has had a rule against advertising on the forums. It has been allowed only where express permission has been granted before any advertising is posted. We have enforced this rule consistently and regularly. Users are warned but if they repeatedly break the rule after infringing, then they are banned for a short period of time (typically 1 day to start with). If they infringe again, they are banned for progressively longer periods.
This is how things 'started' with FalconDude and it warrants a bit of a chronology.
Mid 2011 (can't find exact date) - FalconDude sent out mass PM's advertising Gamer Dungeon. He was warned.
November 2011 - a different user was advertising GD all over PALGN. A few months before he was spamming the link to it in Game Exchange and today he posted a thread in General PAL Talk blatantly advertising it (which was deleted by an admin). That user was PM'd to tell him to stop, and that this was his final warning. After that he proceeded to spam PMs to other members advertising Gamer Dungeon. GD ran a 'recruitment competition', and he actually posted in that admitting he was exploiting the current state of PALGN, before deleting his post. That user was banned.
November 2011 - FalconDude PM'd an admin asking why the other user was banned and claimed that the only way we could have verified the allegations was to view PMs, which he claimed was a violation of privacy. FalconDude was sent the following response:

As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised."
Don't think we didn't notice when you did the same when the Game Exchange closed down. Just because we didn't catch you at the time doesn't mean your staff can keep doing it. Also don't think we're not aware you've unsuccessfully tried to poach staff members after they've left our site.
There's also the fact XXXX went on to state he was exploiting our current state on GamerDungeon, which basically shows a complete lack of respect. We saw that before he deleted those posts in the Recruitment Competition thread on your site.
The ban will remain, and I would like to hope that this is the last trouble we have to deal with from GamerDungeon.

January 2012 - FalconDude was warned and banned for 'negging' without justification, when a concerned forum member reported it using the tool mentioned earlier.
January 2012 - FalconDude was banned again for exactly the same behaviour against a different user.
In each of these cases, the negging behaviour flowed from trades that had gone bad on his site, Gamer Dungeon. In at least one instance, the reason for the bad trade was that he had banned the user for reasons unknown before that user could get his details to complete the trade! It was also revealed that he had been abusing those members via the private messaging system and using racial slurs (the sort that we expressly forbid and moderate against on PALGN).
January 2012 - FalconDude was permanently banned for repeated infringements of a host of rules and abuse of PALGN forum members, all of which had persisted for over 6 months.
February 2012 - FalconDude blackmailed his way into getting the permanent ban lifted.
February 2012 - this thread was posted.
Roland,
I sincerely hope that none of this was news to you and that you knew each and every one of these facts beforehand. If not, then you may apologise to the remaining and former moderators and administrators of this site for your words in this thread. I wish to remain a moderator of this site but you need to recognise what we've put in in the past and the way you've reflected upon that with this thread.
If you did know all of this beforehand but proceeded with the apology to FalconDude and backhanded attack on the moderation/administration team, then I am severely disappointed and quite disgusted, given the amount of time we've put into building the site that is now yours.
Regardless, I hope that you would also consider apologising to those forum members that have been abused by FalconDude using PALGN's messaging system. Your endorsement of FalconDude is an endorsement of his behaviour on PALGN.

Hahaha, that was when he was arguing with me and Jedi_Amara after I ranted about his sudden and completely unjustified banning of me on Gamerdungeon in the middle of a transaction just because he was having a hissyfit that week that I didn't get back to him for a weekend and threw around his banhammer for not paying when, in fact, I did just moments before he threatened to ban me. Then he banned me anyway. Lawl.
This guy is evidently guilty of blatant advertising which in some cases extended to harassment via PM, banning several PALGN users for very trivial and questionable reasons and negging and abusing them on here, mocking PALGN over on his own site, taking advantage of the Roland situation with more blatant advertising... the list goes on. I really hated how FeralOni and a lot of the other "veteran" members with sticks up their asses going around and abusing other members with foul language, but Falcon is one user who has proven that he does not deserve an apology from you or any the of the new admin team, Roland.

How he blackmailed his way back into PALGN after getting banned that day, I don't know; I just assumed with the collapse of the previous existing team that everyone banned could come back. However, this shows how sloppy and unprofessional the new administration team is in letting him back in, and probably will be for a the far future.

I received a PM from him on June 29th 2011 advertising his website. I believe those who vocally posted their dismay at the GE being shut down (including myself) mostly received them.
I actually signed up, but never ended up using the site as its GE was shit.

The fact that Falcondude has gone through this thread and neg'ed everyone is proof of his trolling ways. It's not helping the situation. Part of me actually hoped he would be sincere and apologetic just so this would be water under the bridge and we could get on with things but I guess not.

It would be extremely callous and unprofessional to remove the powers from a mod who is following the rules he was asked to uphold after multiple warnings and bans had been given out in the past, only for them to be ignored and for the user to continue doing the same things that he was warned out.
