Looks like the 360 copy I ordered at OGS may get here before my local PS3 LE pre-order. _________________

I think both the EU and NA artbooks are around 250 pages, and only the Japanese one is 450 pages.

bah JB didn't have it in yet. Someone smsed me on the train that EB had it so I got off the train and went on one the way back to the city to see if JB had my preorder, didn't believe them when I called and they said no. >_> _________________

I was surprised as to how big the actual box for the LE is!
I am hoping to fire it up in a few weeks!

So, should I be resisting the temptation to skip these ridiculously long cutscenes in MGS 3? Is the story actually worth it? If I wanted to watch a movie, I'd watch a movie, and one that was actually coherent, unlike this muddled gibberish.
And seriously, somebody needs to sit Kojima down and explain to him the meaning of the word 'redundant'. I'm not a moron, you don't need to tell me everything 3 GODDAMN TIMES!
Oh, and why does that chick feel the need to tell me about monster movies every time I save? What the hell is that all about?
Kojima must be high as a kite when he makes these games, there really is no other logical explanation. The hard stuff, too. Ketamine washed down with ether and a side order of paint thinner fumes.
Oh, there you go, the cutscene finally ended and my Xbox controller has switched itself off...

its worth it , MGS4 is were things start to veer off a cliff but MGS3/1 are regarded as the best in the series the monster references are more or less referencing the era that the game is set in ( and things to come) iv always throught of it as simulating life ie theres so much going on that it dos feel some what inhabitable regardless of all the things that he explained the cobra unit arnt really explained that well ( there back story that is ) - did i mention that if you haven't played them in order of release then you are doing it wrong ? _________________

Doing it wrong if going order of release? Wouldn't the story make more sense going 1 2 3 4 Peace Walker? _________________

I was thinking the same thing, but boy, what a clumsy way to go about it.

Thats what I thought, hence playing MGS 3 first. I am enjoying it, but Tommy Wiseau could write better dialogue. Don't even get me started on some of the characters.
EDIT: okay, now I'm confused - what order am I supposed to be playing them in? Oh, I see - you edited your post. Okay, then fuck it, I'm doing it wrong.

Release order, so 1, 2, 3, 4, Peace Walker, although when I first played the series I went 2, 3, 1, 4 and it still made kinda sense. If you can't get your hands on the first game, 2 has a synopsis in the extras I believe. _________________

pretty much what luke said but in a word 1 cant be missed as it more or or less marks a point at which hideo was sane - that being said 2 is needed to make any sense of 4 in a word as the story itself is ummm cant quite put my finger on it but i enjoyed the series from 1 all the way thro
oh by the way im playing thro twin snakes at the moment just a few mins past disc 2 cant say im enjoying it as much as i did the original that i replayed about 6 months ago tho the new quirks are fun to play with _________________

Playing the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snakes before the MGS series would also provide some insight into the stories, but if you can't be bothered, that's cool too. _________________

Just received my copy of the MGS collection from Ozgameshop, it's always a nice bonus when the Australian ratings logo is on the disc. _________________
