But with all the consequences and stuff? I guess they either don't think of that or simply don't care. Which is pretty much what my mate said years after he battled with abuse.

It doesn't stop people from smoking or drinking alcohol. It's hard to break an addiction I guess.

Very true. That's my fault for thinking there's a difference between them and my vices (the odd glass of red wine with dinner or a drink with friends).

As Marilyn Manson put it, "Drug abusers make drug users look bad."
Everyone drinks. Some people choof. Make an unbreakable habit out of it? That's where the problems start.
EDIT: And, as always, if you can't understand why people would use drugs, it's time to drop the coffee and energy drinks from your diet and have a headache without falling back on panadol. _________________

Yeah. I used to drink energy drinks heaps when I was younger but don't even touch them any more. I usually have a coffee once a day but that's more for the taste than the hit; I'm fine with or without a coffee but I was raised in a family that drank coffee 3 or 4 times a day. And panadol, or any other drug, I avoid like the plague.
That's a good quote as well Gooberman. Never thought of it that way.

I'm actually addicted to Pepsi/Cola. If I go a couple of days without it I get a headache. But I like it so I drink it anyway, I don't really care that I'm addicted to it. Because even if I didn't show addictive symptoms I would drink it purely cause I like the taste.

This is blatantly false.
I'm another in the 'no sympathy' for drug use too. Be it narcotics, tobacco, caffeine or alcohol. You'd be a very rare person to not know the risks of these before you start on them.
Also RIP Whitney, a once-great singer. _________________

They had her singing on the radio, live at some show in the 90s... damn she rocked. Gave me a tingle knowing she is now dead. I also get that feeling whenever I hear MJ.... can't believe he is dead

Whilst I agree with grim-one (as a non drinker, non-smoker, non-illegal drug taker who has little sympathy for those that do come to harm from these activities) I do think everyone has a vice. I over-eat and enjoy sweet stuff.

It sure is, but it's also a pretty good generalisation. Someone not drinking even one drink every now and then is met with surprise in Australian society.
I'll keep in mind next time to find out the exact figures when I'm trying to make a simple point. _________________

Tell me about it. I've even been asked if I'm a reformed alcoholic.

the thing I don't get about the whole 'no sympathy for drug users' is what, where is this attitude when someone gets killed on the road? I mean a lot of people die every year on the road, it's a given risk to drive a car. Am I supposed to just not care if you die in a car crash?
If someone dies it's sad, if they were a drug user, straight edge, addrenline junky, morbidly obese, what the fuck ever. It's still sad. _________________

i think its more to the point that its as you said people die everyday and well if you feel the need to put yourself at risk ( ie say alot of people) should i feel sorry for all of those fools ? it kinda comes down to burdning all of there own crap on everyone else but i totaly understand what you mean benza and in that sense yea it is still sad _________________

+1 for truth. I guess for me it's because drugs don't just hurt the user. It's a lifestyle choice (well, sometimes, it's never that black and white) they make and ultimately it affects everyone close to them. I would be lying if I said believed that ethos 'no sympathy for drug users' as I've mentioned before myself and another mate helped one of our friends, but yeah...

The thing is, even if you're not going to burden yourself over the death of fools, what point does it serve to go into a place were people are sad about someones death and be all "Man she was a drug user so I'm not going to be sad"
I mean whoop de fucking do, keep it to yourself and let other people mourn. _________________

Seriously, this forum right now is a beehive of activity.
I don't think anyone here is *mourning* her, they're just reflecting on her life and passing comment.

So anyway Benza, I have a question to ask you, you know, before Roland turns of the 386 running PALGN. WTF is with your avatar? What is it?
