I'm listening to "How Will I Know" right now. My favourite song of hers. She has/had an amazing voice. An actual voice! That she could use! We will be lucky AS A RACE to ever have someone with such a powerful voice dominating the music charts again. Fuck all these new pop singers. This is majorly depressing for music.
Might have been drugs, might not have been. People assuming that already, of course.
Rest in poweeeeeer, Whitney.

I was just presenting it objectively.
I never really liked her music, but I can appreciate that she had an astonishing voice. Being one of the indie kids in the 1990s, though, she was more the target of our jokes and hatred of everything we perceived as wrong with the music industry at the time.
That said, I'd prefer to listen to her than to any of this autotuned bullcrap that passes for "RnB/soul" music these days.

also was/am not a fan of Whitney's music - nothing really to do with her, just that whole genre is not my thing.
i can appreciate that, in her prime, she was pretty damn talented, and that we're really not likely to see someone like that in the charts again, so meaningless that they've become.

Yep, that's me. Sorry, no sympathy for drug abusers here. I've seen people struggle through and come out better the other side; they knew the risks, did the hard yards and knew they had no other choice but to stop using. Then you have others who know the risks, try to stop (or maybe not) but are eventually unable to.
I'm sad for her death; for her family, friends and other loved ones, but I don't have any pity for her that she was unable to stop using drugs (--update-- specifically to her drug use, not her as a person). People who use drugs know the risks when they go in. And that's a lot different that my previous posts about when someone needs a bullet to the head for serious crimes.

1) I probably shouldn't have said that in a series of posts dedicated to her life, so my apologies there, and
2) I get the feeling you don't like me theory 
3) breaking of 'simple' man laws as you put it don't deserve serious punishment, but serious crimes do. And you may not agree with me there, and that's fair enough, but that doesn't make me any less right or more right for disagreeing with your views.
Anyway, in all honesty, RIP Whitney, I sincerely do hope you are now able to find peace.

yeah the drug abuser aspect is a bit on the nose in these cases.
while we don't know the technical cause of her death, it'd be hard to argue that drug abuse didn't play a major role. it certainly destroyed her life many years before her actual death.
unless she was murdered i suppose...
or died in an accident...
ok, so there are several scenarios where drug abuse wasn't the underlying cause.

Definitely Obsolete. I guess everyone is jumping the gun on her death.
I don't understand why people use drugs, I mean, I get the reasons why they would want to, but I don't understand what goes through ones mind when they are weighing everything up and ultimately decide to do something like that.
