To all valued PALGN staff and readers:
Over the past few days several members of PALGN's editorial team have left. I would like to take this opportunity to wish them well in their future endeavours, thank them for the massive amount of time and effort they have devoted to the site.
Despite the media reports and rumours to the contrary, PALGN is not shutting down.
We are going through a significant transition, with upgrades and changes to both our server infrastructure and the code running the site. You should have noticed the site's page loading speeds have improved in the last couple of weeks. In the coming months we will be building and rolling out a new site developed to a modern web spec.
In the meantime, the industry never sleeps and we intend to continue covering it.
Obviously we are looking to fill key positions in the editorial team.
Yesterday I sent the email below to all the PALGN staff members whose emails I have in my contact list. Please note - I have slightly modified it to reflect recent editorial changes.
"Hi All,
I have just recovered from open heart surgery. During this time I’ve been communicating with the editorial team via Jeremy and Adam.
Jason has also been communicating with Jeremy and Adam about what’s been done to improve the operational speed of PALGN. You should have noticed some improvements in the last few weeks as a result of his efforts.
As previously discussed, PALGN has a new server waiting in the wings to address the performance issues. We are looking to complete the transition to this server in the next 2 weeks. Once we're on the new server we will be building a new CMS to evolve the site forward and bring it up to a more modern spec.
While some of you have left the site, I purposefully haven’t removed your email addresses from my contacts as I want to keep you informed. Please note - I also don’t have a complete list of all the moderators, so this message will also be posted on the forum.
I have been contacted by various media organisations this week to respond to certain allegations that have been raised behind the scenes.
I would appreciate it if you would not speak to the media regarding PALGN's status. I feel the information that is floating around is only part of the story, and I’m attempting to piece together a timeline of what has happened over the last couple of weeks that got us to this point.
My present intention for administration of the site going forward is to establish a steering committee and ensure they have the ability to reach all PALGN staff regardless of their role. This committee should be in constant communication with each other, which has been a “pain point” up to now. At the moment it would consist of myself, Jason and Hereward from a technical standpoint. From an administrative and editorial standpoint, given the recent changes this side of the group is a work in process.
I understand that a number of you have ended your relationships with PALGN COB yesterday. This is unfortunate, but I understand that many of you feel you have no choice but to do so; and thank you for your time and efforts over the years!
For those of you who no longer wish to be part of PALGN… I would ask that you email me - roland.kulen@palgn.com.au - and let me know. I am happy to provide each of you with a copy of every article you wrote for the site - please feel free to republish your articles, but I would ask that you include a link back to PALGN where it was first published."
If you'd like to discuss any of this, feel free to contact me: roland.kulen@palgn.com.au.
If you notice issues with the site, contact our technical team (Jason and Hereward): technical@palgn.com.au. We are keeping a running log of the issues.
Best,
Roland _________________

Personally, I agree with Roland's changes. By forcing out all of PALGN's high quality editorial staff, we won't have any new reviews/news, and therefore, less traffic, and therefore the website will load faster! Especially once everyone has left!
Roland, I hope you get better soon from your wisdom teeth removal/open heart surgery/lobotomy. _________________

Or you could have actually done that with the staff you had rather than completely ignoring us and then spinning as our fault. It's obvious that your only intention is to recreate PALGN in your own image after pissing off the people who made the site what it is (or at least was). _________________

Look I have nothing to say about what's happened. What's done is done and continually bitching about it doesn't change a thing.
I'd like to wish Jason and the other guy the best, building a new site from scratch is no mean feat and unless you're being paid to build the new website nine to five, or you're happy to give up every moment of free time you have, I don't see anything happening for a long while (Assuming you're just stating now).
Roland, take me off the mailing list immediately and good luck finding competent contributors in the future. There was a lot of goodwill out there for the website and put simply, you blew it.

Yeah, I have nothing to say really apart from wishing all the best to both Jason and Hereward in bringing this site back up to scratch.
Good luck dudes and all the best, hope ye read this. _________________

You know what, at first I was hesitant to post what I got sent.
Now, i'm happy to have spurred this whole fucking thing on. Get fucked PALGN. Seriously.
This place is a pathetic shadow of its former self.
Want to know what got "us" to this point? You're a knob.
Simple. _________________

Basically you:
Then the staff were all:
And then the community was like:
So yeah. Well done.

Or if images are simply too difficult for you to understand, in Pokemon battle form:
A wild Roland appears! "I like shorts, they're comfy and easy to wear."
PalGN sends out PalStaff! Go, PalStaff!
PalStaff uses cooperation! It's not very effective...
Roland uses incompetence and Commonwealth Bank ads!
PalGN's speed is greatly decreased.
PalStaff uses negotiation!
Roland counters with thrown creamy butt nuggets.
PalStaff uses teleport! Palstaff flees the battle!
PalGN has no more useable people willing to deal with this shit! PalGN dies!
(Double posting is basically just sticking it to the man now right?) _________________ When I get old, I'll live alone and be a crazy old cat lady. The police might question me, but if I drop a bag of cats, I'll tell them the cats aren't mine and I don't know where they came from.
