Awesome drumming from one of the tracks off the new Textures album. I love the groove at 1:38. For those playing at home, try counting the accent on the hi-hat in the intro while tapping your foot in time... brain fart

Here is the track as it appears on the album.

I love that kind of stuff.

Favourite would be Meshuggah, where the drums are in 4/4, and also 23/16. While the guitars are in completely different time signatures as well.

Yeah Meshuggah seem to bee the first "Djent" band. Oddly enough I prefer the Contradictions Collapse album from 1991.

Anyway here is my favourite jazzy metal band. Atheist - An Incarnations Dream from Unquestionable Presence (1991). Crazy drumming, awesome bass playing, insane solos.

Yeah, I dig them.

And a few months ago, I posted that I didn't like Gojira. Well, like what's happened with several bands, I kept listening to them, and now i absolutely love them.

My favourite song atm.

Gojira are crushing. Kurupt, check out that Contradictions Collapse album, to me it sounds like Metallishuggah.

It's getting near years end. Which means it's time to talk about your favourite metal albums of the year.

The Virus album I keep pimping is cool, Tyr's latest one has actually had some staying power (it's like if they did their previous album properly), but the one I keep playing is something you could probably accuse me of being a fanboi for:

I found it quite underwhelming at first. Devy had been building it up as crazier than Strapping Young Lad. Instead, it was proggier. But then it did the same thing SYL's Alien did - it grew on me. Pretty much the same progression actually - I spot snippets I think are quite cool on the album, then subsequent listens reveal that those snippets are nothing without the rest backing it up.

And The Mighty Masturbator certainly ranks amongst his finest output.

I dug a couple of tracks off the Kezia album, but the singer pains me after a while. He can sing though.

Get it up ya! Seven years since Dimebag ate lead. Fairly good way to end the work day.

Embedded widgets have gone the HTML5 way these days with Grooveshark. So no more PALGN embeds because the forum software eats chunks.

Speaking of Chuck, knowing that I'm a big fan of Death, my mother in law got me this shirt for my birthday. What a champion.

The solo trade offs make my day.
