So? You think that will stop them licensing it to anyone? _________________

Funny thing about an association like that. It's not just one company's interests that dictate everything. _________________

Probably not as that would anti-competitive but I'm not so sure Microsoft would be so willing to license something Sony has a big hand in. Isn't Microsoft heading towards the digital distribution route as Gooberman said?
Still, I think Sony has a big part of bluray. They invented it and are on the board of directors, they have and still do pioneer the format.

Not that I'm saying Microsoft will get Blu-ray but....
| Quote: | | DVD is an optical disc storage media format, invented and developed by Philips, Sony, Toshiba, and Panasonic in 1995. |
Remember that Sony is a big corporation. It's entertainment division is almost like a different company to their disc and hardware division (I don't know what they call it). And despite what the popular media would have you think, Sony alone does not control Blu-ray. _________________

Microsoft could always go Nintendo's route and develop their own optical disc format.
EDIT: Or a flash-based cartridge format. Preferably one with a moderately sized form factor so the carts are harder to lose. That would also allow for larger boards in the carts, so they could make them bus devices so you could put additional processors on them, and SRAM for saving games, and...
Oh, right. _________________ Twitter | XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: stormo | GameCentre/Steam: StorminNorman

Not likely. Blu-ray isn't particular that POPULAR (compared with DVDs) but it's dirt cheap and fairy mainstream. It would also take out of the equation the possible home-threate option 'choice' from the consumer. M$ is going for the complete home-entertainment hub in the home now and in the future and they certainly aren't going to skip over giving the consumer blu-ray playback as well.
The next xbox will have blu-ray for sure. _________________ Shin J Leon.

You know after really thinking about the second hand situation if it does come in lots of people will miss out on a lot of good games. Like i would love to know how often games get printed and would they be around 3-4 years later. This would be the major issue if you can't download them on the store.... _________________

If there is one thing I would like next generation, it would be a properly thought out MMO for consoles. But I don't have faith in anyone being able to pull it off.

The answer to that is buy a PC. MMO's are geared towards any PC being able to run it well, so it's probably a cheaper and better option. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Not likely if the hardware specs rumored so far are any indication. I reckon we'll mostly see games running at 1080p and 30FPS. There won't be a big jump like the PS2>PS3 was.

1080p still does wonders for jaggies though even with no AA applied. 720 is just nasty, I had a higher resolution 4:3 monitor 10 years ago .
