I'm just after some help in regards to the 4GB Xbox slim.

Basically, I'm wanting to know if this console will be sufficient for me. I'm only wanting it to play the Halo games (both online and offline), Mass Effect 1 and The Witcher 2, when that comes out.

So would the 4GB offer enough HDD space to play those games?

Great. How big are the game saves for the single player campaigns? Will 4GB still be enough for that?

i think the largest single save game i have seen was around 32 mg, so it should be...halo ones are probably only about 1 mg.
And don't forget xbox now has cloud saving, and you can use a usb stick up to 16gb i think for save games and profiles

By happenstance, I came across a thread I saved to my hard drive where Andy was selling yet another DS that he didn't play and mentioned in the same post that he was upgrading to the Halo Reach Xbox console.

...which leads one to ask: Do you actually keep your consoles for more than three months? And how much money could you have saved if you simply bought a console and stuck with it?

EDIT: No need to neg me, it's a simple question based on factual evidence.

Geez, don't you have anything better to do than go through old files, just so you can type something that really has nothing do with my original post or question.

And yes, I do keep consoles for longer than 3 months. I've had my PS3 since 2008. Not thats any of your business what I do.

As a matter of fact, I do. As I was looking through those old files to both clean up space and find something I needed for work. As mentioned, it's happenstance.

Try not to get so butthurt. You might enjoy life more.

Not butthurt. Your just annoying and there was no need for you to comment.

In future, if your not interested in the actual topic, then don't be a dickhead and remake on something that has nothing to do with you.

Anyway, I got the info I was after... Thread can be closed.

Here's a better idea - don't post in a public forum if you can't handle a legitimate question.

EDIT: Which I notice you didn't fully answer. How much money have you wasted on your pathological need to buy new consoles all the time? And here's a new one: How many of these threads have you created as a result?

Andy, there should be wikipedia lists of games that can and can't run without a hard drive. Some games need the harddrive to play, so you might want to look into that.

There's also texture install packs to consider with some games as well. I remember hearing a couple of games, when installed to the harddrive, offer better textures in-game. I reckon The Witcher could quite possibly give you the option.

I'd seriously like to know an answer to your question as well, I need to buy a slim as I have no working console at the moment, and f*** paying for a 250GB console when my old 20GB harddrive has lasted me since launch.

EDIT: with a bit of quick googling, the 4GB drive on the base model is flash and doesn't act as a harddrive for games that need one to play. I've also just read that Halo Reach's co-op mode can only be played with the harddrive.

Doesn't Halo play much better with a hard drive though? I remember reading it constantly read/writes from it, which is why 3 ran worse when installed.

It sure does.

But why spend five seconds Googling when you can make yet another redundant thread to increase your post count one more time before the site stops being updated?

inb4 andy negs me. Hi there.

Personally i think you'd just be better off paying the extra for the hdd and avoiding any future hassles

Googling information doesn't give opinion. Andy asked for peoples' opinions based on their experience and knowledge. Pretty sure that is permitted.

The only thing redundant in this thread are the posts discussing Andy's buying habits. Been there, done that.

I'd like to agree with you. But you're wrong. He specifically asked fact based questions rather than opinion based questions - if 4GB is big enough for the games in question and their save games. All of which can be answered by a quick Google.

As such, that makes both your post and this one redundant.

Maybe I can get another neg for it from andy. I aim to get 10 from this thread.

To me, that is requesting an opinion. Will the 4GB system be sufficient for Andy?

Fetidchimp says to buy the larger system to avoid future hassles.

Some might think that a 4GB would be fine for Andy, as he may decide to sell it before hard drive space becomes an issue.

I'm not sure what 4GB systems are selling for at the moment. Last I looked they are back up to ~$249. As buying a 320GB hard drive is $150 separately, this brings the total cost up to $400. I'm pretty sure the 250GB systems are more than that atm. Perhaps the 4GB is an okay choice for Andy, if he were to keep the system long enough to need more hard drive space then he could upgrade later without being out of pocket too much more (if any). Though, mrcool37's advice regarding some games needing a hard drive would need to be taken into consideration if choosing that road.

But Andy, it is a poor time to buy an Xbox360. The good sales have all ended, so I personally would wait and see if the cheap, cheap Christmas prices return (or at least closer to them). After selling so many 4GB Xbox360's for <$150, I know I would feel rather disgruntled about paying $250 at present.

As for asking questions instead of goggling answers, I'm a offender. Get the hand cuffs. My twitter is littered with stupid questions that I could have googled answers to. I like the discourse. I like that these people to some degree know me and tailor an answer to suit my person. I recently asked about transferring PSN games from my PS3 to my PSP, 3 people told me how to do it and 4 or 5 people asked what games I was buying and made some game recommendations.

The games should say on the back whether they require hdd, but i bet they leave that off on games that require it for parts of the game rather than the whole game....possibly like halo reach.
I don't have one handy to check that

There is, unfortunately, three words that cast a shadow over your otherwise-relatable experience there. They're three fairly common words, seemingly innocuous, but cast many different interpretations over the whole thing based on society's stereotypes.

The three words?

You have boobs.
