one word of advice before you go and find a copy of the game is that it is an absolute nightmare to run on vista/win7. Any os xp and older should run fine but I remember hunting for a patch or fix to getting it running for weeks on end before eventually giving up after not being able to play for longer than a few minutes before crashing. not sure about the steam version or if a a fix has been released though, this was at least a year ago so it might have changed.

that said, go kotor 1 first, and then find the sith lords. played both through on xbox, and kotor 1 is still my game of the year all years. if by the off chance you haven't managed to have the plot spoiled for you, all the better reason to play through the first, as it's seriously the got one of the best stories an rpg has seen imo.

when you're done with both of them, get your hands on jade empire as well. an absolute gem from bioware with gameplay not unlike kotor but with real time combat instead of turn based.

You can use compatibility mode.

Kotor is my favorite game and while I thought the 2nd has some neat ideas it's basically half a game. The gameplay is old school in a few different ways just giving you a warning. Don't read too much about the story if you can help it, remember to use a guide if you get lost and above all the game gets better when you get a lightsaber. This maybe just me but get the force persuade power especially if you go down the darkside. You can do some really evil and fun things with it.

Kotor is the game I want a remake to. Keep the same script, voice acting and just update the engine and gameplay.

yeah tried compatibility mode but the game would still crash, possibly just my particular rig but iirc a lot of others were having the same issue as well.

I must 'ave been lucky then. I had more trouble putting it into widescreen though I did end up getting it to run in 1080p.

yeah bunnings would be the best bet, probably the one near my place would be a good shot...

pretty sure they would have a crapload of offcuts, some dude bought a truckload of wood in front of me the other day, looked like he cut it to size there

The best part is that Chrome made the code box there twice the width of my 1920x1080 monitor. And every scroll in the page takes that long to go back to the start.
