Sorry, but I'm a little confused as to why you'd bother coming into this thread just to post a link to someone else's negative review? |
Because this isn't the FF fan thread - its supposed to be a discussion.

"Game director Motomu Toriyama explained at a Final Fantasy XIII-2 event at the Taipei Game Show 2012 that the ending doesn't necessarily guarantee a sequel. Instead, the "to be continued" is present to entice player to seek out the different endings, and Toriyama also expects DLC to expand the game further. We already know about this DLC, and episodes covering the exploits of Snow and Sazh were also hinted.
This of course doesn't completely rule out a new Final Fantasy XIII in the future, but for the moment you'll have to stick to DLC if you want to explore more of that universe."

Why this specific game? Plus based on why he typed it was pretty obvious his post was aimed at people who've already bought it.
I just don't see him going into every game thread posting negative reviews, so I was curious as to why he'd do it for FFXIII-2. _________________

I really don't want an FFXIII-3, I'd rather they focus on Versus or FFXV.
I'd be happy if they wrapped this up with a nice DLC episode or something. Like the equivalent of The Ballad of Gay Tony in GTAIV or The Lost and the Dammed. _________________

Thats the sort of DLC I can get behind, but its not how the new economics of DLC work...... _________________

I know what you mean. Dead Space 2 had a good example of DLC i'd like to see, Severed.
It was like a little sequel to Dead Space Extraction and only went for 2 hours, but it explained what happened to the characters. If they did something like that for Sahz or Snow and then a big $15 DLC to clear up the ending I'd be happy with that.
Hell they could call the DLC FFXIII-3, I'm sure it would make people happy. _________________

Valid point. Maybe he just wants discussion? Nothing wrong with that, he's not trolling.

Hi guys
A few of you were concerned that i might be stirring up trouble with my previous post. To be fair i certainly do have a bias in my view of the game, but likewise i would say that many who sing its praises have a bias too if you're being honest.
I certainly am not trying to start childish arguments that we have all seen plenty of on other sites that have reviewed this game and metacritic certainly tells a story of conflicting views that most of the previous FF's didnt suffer from.
And i am eagerly awaiting the review from this site as well.
And to be clear i have played all the FF's up to this game and i love the "franchise" (god i hate that term, it makes a game series sound like a chain of McDonalds restaurants sacrificing quality and substance to grab profits as opposed to delivering a product with integrity and polish) And i always want whats best for the series.
I posted the link to that review because though the author announced from the beginning that he didnt like FF13 and by association probably would not like XIII-2 he seemed very straightforward and fair with his breakdown of the game and i know that it can usually take a fair way into a game to be able to gain a "big picture" view of it when the excitement and adrenaline of something "new" wears off and the reality of what the game has really offered comes to light. Hence why i asked those of you who had played the game that question because i believe that the guys and girls on PALGN are some of the clueiest (is that a word?) and sensible people around.
And like emech said, though most of this thread is populated by fans of FFXIII-2, i was hoping for some pros and cons to be discussed to see how this game has fared?

It wouldn't be a FFXIII and XIII-2 thread without some people showing their disdain for the series . Luckily THEMAN doesn't seem interested in this one.

I keep liking this game more and more.
Chapter 3 really picks up and has some great locations and memorable characters.
Not far into chapter 4 but I'm really enjoying it too.
Some negatives to be fair:
- The casino with no games/attractions (?)
- I can't tame a Flanitor for the life of me

The Casino has Chocobo racing and slot machines.
I'm 62 hours in, and have 158/160 fragments. These last two are the most time consuming, completing the bestiary is a pain in the ass. The other one is awarded when you win the jackpot on the Casino slot machines, but that shouldn't be super difficult. I have 84% of the trophies, pretty happy with my progress.
Looking around the net, I'm starting to think that I'm the only one who would really like to see a FFXIII-3 get made instead of just DLC. I loved FFXIII-2, and would really like to see one more game in the series. That would be enough for me. I really like the FFXIII universe, and want to explore it even more. _________________

The Sunleth Waterscape is such a good track. Beautiful graphics + running around as Vanille + that song playing in the background. It doesn't get any better.

Bestiary is complete, just one fragment to go. I've taped down the button on the controller, now the Slot Machine is playing automatically. All I have to do is wait, and the secret ending shall be mine.
Edit: Ok, I now have all the fragments! It only took about 40 mins of letting the slot machine run to get it. Time for the secret end.
I'm going for the Serendipitous trophy while I'm at it, I only need to win about 1000 more coins.
Edit 2: I saw the secret ending, now I can sleep soundly tonight. It was a long journey, but pretty worth it. I now have 95% of the trophies. I was mostly doing all this to see the secret ending, but I may as well get the last few Bronze trophies. _________________

Did you find an awesome guide to help you get all the fragments? Or did you do it all yourself?
If the latter, I'm impressed. _________________

It was a bit of both. I got the first 80 by myself, but made good use of Split Infinity's guide on GameFAQs to help me with quite a few of the remaining ones in the post-game. I completed all of the maps without trouble, but when it came to completing the bestiary... I tried it, but decided that it was ridiculous and that I'd need help. There's an excellent monster FAQ on GameFAQs which was a life-saver! Some of the monsters have very low spawn rates, or only spawn in one small, specific area, so it's a real challenge. Getting the Battlemania Fragment skill will help enormously, as it doubles your chances of having a rare monster spawn, and can help go lure out some of the harder to find critters.
I was careful to fight as many monsters as I could while playing through the story, and it paid off. I only had about 20 monsters left to track down and defeat by the time I hit the post-game. The monsters which you need to defeat in the Steppe for the Fragments are very strong, and the final one (Yomi) is the officially the strongest enemy in the game. He makes Omega Weapin look like a kitten. To avoid frustration, I recommend taking him on with a maxed Crystarium and the best Ravager monster in the game - Cloudburst.
If you see me online with FFXIII-2 playing from now on, you'll know it's just me letting the slot machines run, or having Noel run around in circles on a Chocobo to get the last couple of trophies. _________________

Yeah, I ended up over levelled since I did so much side stuff before finishing the story. I only died once while fighting the last boss, during the second part. _________________
