if they are going to do something like the Casino it has to be at least as fun as all the mini games at the Golden Saucer in FF7. _________________

Alright, I just beat the game, with 86/160 fragments collected. Interesting ending was interesting, I'm really looking forward to seeing what SE do with FFXIII-3. I really enjoyed this game, it's the best RPG I've played in ages. I intend to go for the Platinum trophy, should be fun. _________________

ok I'm seriously stuck with the first encounter with Caius. I'm on ravager lvl60 with Serah and commando lvl60 with Noel and have been dominating normal enemies until this point so don't think i'm underleveled. I wound Caius for about half of his max hp but he always uses that damn body and soul move which regains his health, gives him buffs and restores some wounds >_< came really close once but Serah was dead and I wanted her to get exp so I didn't finish him off, what a mistake that was :/ _________________

I'm upto the same place lol.
I can nearly kill him off during the first stagger but then he just buffs and heals before I can really do anything.
I haven't grinded and I've been avoiding battles here and there and it basically feels impossible to beat him with my current abilities and levels.

i'm pretty sure that after his first stagger he goes into ape**** mode and starts pulling one devastating attack after the other since it's hard to stagger him a 2nd time. My poor Caith Sith healer only has 560hp and my other main monster is the one woundng Caius but has 1.5khp. _________________

His spamming is pretty ridiculous after the first stagger. I'm pretty sure he hit me with Giga-Graviton like 3 times in a row once. :/
Cait Sith is a pretty useless healer until you upgrade it's crystarium heaps, my Serah is a decent medic now, thankfully.

Wow you're levelled high. I made Serah a sab and a constant poison/deprotect/deshell made his health rocket down once he's staggered. _________________

yeah I managed to beat him just then, I wounded half of his hp bar then staggered him one time and commando'd the crap out of him with little regard to my health until he was down. Managed to 5 star it in 3mins because of that risky strategy =D _________________

i think i'll stick with my serah as ravager, noel as commando and monster as everything else depending on situation for most of the game =p it's nice having thundaga so early on in the game, i'm just ripping mobs of enemies up like I'm playing end-game of the previous game FFXIII. _________________

Managed to defeat Caius on my next reattempt.
Spammed deprotect and deshell, like I had been before, and tried to copy OropherX's strategy.
I still couldn't manage to defeat him on the first stagger, but got him on the second. His buffs wore off in practically perfect timing, managed to get his health down to 1/3 before he rebuffed and just managed to defeat him before the stagger meter ran out.
Level 60 on one stat seems really high, did you upgrade anything else at all? haha
My Serah was like 15 Com, 20 Rav, 32 Med when I defeated Caius.
Edit: Well I failed, completely misread that you "wounded" his health , I just went all out lol.

I did put some points into sentinel and the buff one but I don't see the point in balancing out commando and ravager based on my experience with the previous game. Even if an enemy is staggered I would still try to get the % up as ravager so the commando will do more damage, apart from that battle with Caius =p really I just did the lvl60s so I can get thundaga fast for Serah and start doing AoE attack. I really need more ATB though. I still only have 3 each for serah and noel as I've been using the bonus to unlock the other classes =p
btw I personally think Caius's battle theme gives Sephiroth's One Winged Angel a run for it's money but that's just me. I just ripped it to my hdd. Horray for full OST in Crystal edition =D _________________

The music has been quite good through out. I really like that slow song in the place where you meet Hope.
I think I've unlocked all the roles for both Serah and Noel now. Need more ATB and accessories

Level up a pulsework knight (SEN) if you have one. You can capture it from Bresha Ruins, it's an early bloomer so it caps out at level 20 but with 2k+ HP it's very handy for dealing with challenging battles.
I had no trouble fighting Caius, PK easily mitigated his damage output. SYN/SAB/SEN to set up buffs on party and debuffs on Caius made it a breeze.
It might be worth looking into optimal leveling guides if you want to make your characters as strong as possible. Using Noel as an example, I'm focusing on increasing his strength. So every time there's a large node in the crystarium I spend CP to level up COM on it for a role bonus which gives an extra 2 STR on top of the stat bonuses normal or small nodes provide.
I have him at either 31 or 32 COM right now, so while he doesn't yet have higher level abilities he does have an extra 62 or 64 points of STR. _________________

Yep, Optimal Levelling is something to keep in mind. I've been careful about my levelling from the start, and now have Serah and Noel at over 800 magic and strength respectively. Noel actually has over 900 when you add in the accessory that I've got on him. He's a beast of a Commando, can tear a Long Gui to shreds.
As for that Caius battle, I just hit him with Poison repeatedly to nullify his regen status, then pounded him with a RAV/RAV/RAV combo before switching to a COM/RAV/RAV paradigm once he was staggered. He went down pretty easily.
I now have 110/160 fragments, and have seen all of the Paradox Endings. A couple of them were pretty amusing. I'll say this though, FFXIII-2 would be a slightly better game without all those annoying Temporal Rift puzzles. Some of the later ones for getting the fragments have been driving me nuts. _________________

Ah so you don't need all the fragments to see the paradox endings, that's good. _________________
