Here's a Kinect trailer showing off voice commands that shouldn't need Kinect but for some reason do.

To my knowledge the voice commands are being driven by the software and functionality of Kinect voice recognition. Unlike say TC's Endwar which used their own Voice Recognition software as part of the game so you could just use a normal headset, ME3 is simply taking advantage of Kinect's own Voice Recognition functionality to read commands and integrate those commands recognised by kinect into actions. I remember BW saying a while ago that they wouldn't have bothered with voice commands if the architecture for voice recognition wasn't there with kinect.

Yeah I know, but they could still implement it without Kinect. I guess its nice they've put it in at all, but meh. I don't feel I'm misisng out.

Mass Effect figurines (Mass Effect Series 02- Set of 4). Comes with a redeemable multiplayer DLC to "make your multi-player squad stronger"*
*Claims are not made by me but from the source which quoted this.

Two new squadmates have be 'revealed', and by 'revealed' I mean leaked, thanks to images from the new Art of Mass Effect book. One was 'confirmed' awhile ago from a retailers conference leak, but is still a pretty big spoiler. The other I expected, but is also kind of a spoiler I guess. _________________

So apparently the forth book, Deception, is utterly terrible. This crazed fan will be avoiding it. _________________

I preordered it a while back for $5.08. So even if it is terrible, I've paid an absolute pittance for it. _________________

I got about halfway through the excerpt before I had to stop, and even that was hard. I know I can be pretty critical of these kinds of things, but holy shit is it bad. Really, really, really bad. I'm pretty sure my order has gone through already which is blah, but I'm pretty sure I'll never get through it once it arrives.
Guess I'll own a new paperweight. _________________

^Exclusive DLCs in a book that is restricted to a bookstore. Just don't like the concept.
Btw, if anyone cares, found out the preview of the artbook http://www.darkhorse.com/Books/Previews/18-111?page=0 (possible spoilers). Looks like the Book Depository just had an outdated book cover.
Edit - Oops... Thought the question was directed to me, my bad! _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

The writer clearly has no grasp on the series lore, its full of inaccuracies, and the prose is written like a five year old. Based on the excerpt the book is going to be sloppy and tedious. _________________

Woop woop, multiplayer trailer. No spoilers. Shows off the basic concept of the multiplayer, the playable species, classes, etc.

Voice cast trailer. PR confirms the return of Martin Sheen (The Illusive Man), Tricia Helfer (EDI), Carrie-Anne Moss (Aria T'Loak), Yvonne Strahovski (Miranda Lawson), Seth Green (Joker), Keith David (Anderson), Lance Henriksen (Admiral Hackett), and Ali Hillis (Liara). Freddy Prinze Jr and Jessica Chobot are new to the cast, the former voicing James Vega, and the latter voicing Diana Allers, a news reporter.

The Mass Effect 3 demo on XBL will come with a free temporary upgrade to XBL Gold, so even if you're not a regular subscriber you can try out the multiplayer.
I figure this is Microsoft kissing EA's arse after they accidentally leaked the demo months ago. _________________

BioWare has issued an apology for Deception (it's on the ME3 forums), and implied that there will be a revised edition with changes. _________________

How about the "revised" edition be written by Drew Karpyshyn, you know the guy who created the Mass Effect story to begin with!!! I do not for the life of me understand the motivation behind not giving the author of the 1st 3 mass effect stories, the lead writer of the original Mass Effect game, a lead writer of Mass Effect 2 (should have been the lead writer IMO) And now isnt even a lead writer????? God i HATE how this happens.
I LOVED the 3 novels and the story in the 1st game. Except for the ending and the character arc stories i could not stand the rest of the games writing in ME2. I hope the writing is at least half as good as Drews work on this 3rd installment. Oh and any Mass Effect novel not written by Drew can suck my cock.

Karpyshyn was busy writing a prequel novel to The Old Republic, and I'm pretty sure he worked extensively on The Old Republic's script. I think it was simply a case of him being very busy and wanting to do new things.
Nothing wrong with getting other people to contribute. I blame Dietz for doing a shitty job, and BioWare/EA for hiring him and failing to properly edit his work and pick up on the mistakes. _________________
