Shoe on the other foot: RIAA wants to scrap anti-piracy OPEN Act
I find this highly amusing. The RIAA is calling for an anti-piracy bill to be shot down because it requires lawyers to be involved and could take a length of time for for the site to be shut down while investigation takes place. You know, bringing laws and evidence into this whole thing is just not appropriate!
Pretty much the new bill proposes taking infringing sites to the ITC for investigation before they can be shutdown. None of this file a complaint and their gone nonsense from SOPA/PIPA.
----
Another good one. Stop bushfires, introduces elephants to Australia.
I can just imagine a plague of elephants creeping across the country, destroying everything in their path. Rogue elephants hunting down local wildlife and trampling crops! _________________

Love the one about the elephants, although clearly a bit crazy he makes some pretty good points.
| Quote: | He says past mistakes call for confronting solutions that need to be based on science, not emotion and cultural prejudice.
He says people need to ask themselves why it is okay to shoot donkeys and camels but not horses, and says people need to accept there is no such thing as "pristine nature". |
Going down to Caulfield to shoot me some horses _________________ Da Bessssss

Very interesting article. Reminds me of that story about the illegal immigrant who played Resident Evil: Outbreak. He had just sold his power drill because it had led to a strain in his lower back, where a virus was previously thought to be the cause. When asked about how his recovery is going, he expressed his concern that 5 players leaving Tottenham at the close of the transfer window with only Saha coming in on loan from Everton may lead to an end of season collapse due to lack of injury cover and FA cup commitments. He also has done on the record as stating his dislike for the "Twilight" series of books and movies, labeling the ability to change from human to animal as "unrealistic" and "almost as if someone had made it up". Trojan.

I think those brits are the dumber bunch. Mind you, FU LAX, I won't forget the mess you made of my honeymoon (well, the first day/night). Wife was treated in a somewhat similar fashion because she didn't fill out a form they forgot to tell her about or give her.
But at least we ended up getting in.

I thought that too until I read the thing and realized that yeah, destroy is slang for partying really hard. Kind of like if you're going to rip it up some where you're not actually going there to rip things up.
Are you not allowed to use common slang on tweets now in case the authorities of another country don't understand it? That's kind of fucking stupid.
I mean if they'd been making dumb joke tweets like "Lol going to bomb the president" or something then yeah, but that's not what they were. _________________

Obviously it's the usual US mentality but those brits didn't look like the sharpest tools in shed. So, oh well.
And in reply to your question, I guess not

If we're talking about sharp tools, do the US 'intelligence' really think potential terrorists would advertise their intended targets to tens of millions over TWitter before hand?

To outsmart them, durrr.
Comeon MIkes, the security guys at Airports are thickheads. They probably saw those two twits, checked their tweets and thought that they'll have some fun. They don't care. I bet that's closer to the truth than anything else.

The guy who shot up Virginia Tech made a YouTube video hours before doing it. Last year there was a kid who went on a rampage at a Japanese train station after posting about how he was going to do it on 2chan. The same thing happened in the US with 4chan posters. And I'm pretty sure Anders Behring Breivik posted threats online along with his manifesto (could be wrong, though.)

For sure, they need to be checking stuff like that out. But in my opinion, for this particular incident, they over acted and probably did so because they could.
