Wow, that was a really long read on Pastebin and if true confirms everything i thought was going on.
What cost is involved with starting up another site? (im completely clueless) It seems that that is really the only solution if the situation stays as it is.
I would in a heartbeat move over to that site if it was created. And im sure all the readers and contributors would do the same. Its just a damn shame that things have turned out this way. It seems like admins are between a rock and a hard place. Its not fair to say the very least.

Considering the leak of that sort of information, there could possibly be legal implications of setting up a new site, if it involves any staff from PALGN (former or present).

Don‘t take it the wrong way, but this all has been prstty shady. I‘m glad we know.
The only person I see the information hurting in the long term is Roland. |
Completely wrong.
Opportunistic fiends like the Gamer Dungeon people would have a field day with this. Others would hold this against us. Publishers and advertisers may not want to work with us. Furthermore, I and many of the honest staff members have had their trust betrayed by someone with the privilege of having access to private conversations. There is a lot more that goes to the site other than the community and a game exchange - if outside partners don't think they can trust us, we might as well shut down, go down to the ballet shop, buy tutus and there will be no Internet bs and everyone will be happy.
I wasn't happy for a second that I wasn't able to tell everyone what's happening. But as I've said 1000 times by now, I didn't want to say anything unless I had a definitive answer for everyone. Nothing shady, just trying to do the right thing by everyone. |
PALGNs issue has been the elephant in the room for MONTHS. We have been patient since at least October with issues being acknowledged but resolutions and causes being kept commercial in confidence. I understand Jeremy's position and his concerns are completely valid, but Thudercurl is right.
As gamers we are frustrated by business concerns hurting our gaming experiences (day one dlc / gamer passed for example) As a "customer" the commercial concerns of PALGN has frustrated our community experiences.
The 'mole' who leaked this has created issued of trust, provided ammunition for competitor (LOL) sites and shown partners that there is leaking on the PALGN ship, but any casual observer has been able to see these 3 concerns anyway (writers leaving/game exchange closing/a HUGE reduction in site content etc.)
This leak only confirms what most already knew, and has FINALLY given some answers and has promoted some serious motivation for action.......
Having had that rant - these issues is all we seem to talking about now days. These discussions should be left in the staff questions thread where it originated. By creating a new thread condemning the mole, the flames have only been stoked. Can we get back to the gaming? _________________

This whole attempt at taking a diplomatically correct stance is really annoying me... the whole "oh I understand... BUT WE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW" reeks of false self entitlement. Having lost six months of my life dealing with all this crap, well...
How can I put it any simpler? Well, now you all know, and everyone's going to get rooted out of it. Happy? _________________

I know its bad but it was just prolonged torture before. Now something has to happen and people can move on. Any reasonable person (you know someone with a brain) knows that the concerns raised by the parties involved were legitimate and had thier audience's best interests at heart as well as the integrity of the site.
Look at it this way, WH&s checks occur for a reason, if there are legitimate hazards found, and are reported, its the fault of the manager if after they are informed do noting to rectify it. Not the fault of the officer performing the checks or the staff for highlighting them. Its incompetent managing and like i said any person with a brain can see that.

Hi I'm a long time reader first time commenter.
After seeing this I thought was about time I made my first comment.
I dont think I have any right to have any say on the matter, but I am wondering if there will be any future for the staff and former staff of PALGN? Will they make another website? what is everyone going to do? please tell me so I know where to go to keep reading the quality writing of PALGN staff.

Quickly read that looong thing on Pastebin... well... what can be said? All the active members here have best interests in mind, I'm sure we can organise some kind of new startup. No point sitting back and bitching and complaining any more.

Maybe not from his point of view, maybe he is deliberately not doing anything to annoy the current staff enough so they will leave on their own accord and then he can bring his own people. Its already started with the writers leaving maybe its been his plan all along......food for thought. _________________

If that did happen, the community would leave. The members are the backbone of PALGN. _________________

Is all the old staff and writers going to this new site that is being built? It seems like so many people disappeared from the site... Will all of them move to this new one? Could Jeremy clarify what has happen to everyone? I am interested to know
