I had a good run to ~24k with a Raider sporting Masochism, Repair, The... one that eats all coins on the field, and Elixir... turns out I badly needed Heal over double coin -_- _________________

Yeah the 'double' skills are all pretty useless later on when you're more focused on just trying to take down enemies. You don't really need that early boost either when you've got masochism
Clearing the field of stuff like potions and shields without wasting a turn (and getting attacked) is way more useful. _________________

Gah! I did it! ... for now.
(that first screenshot was just a few turns before I went splat)
Those last ~40 turns or so were nerve-racking! I took so many screenshots, and crept back from the brink over and over again... but ultimately succumbed to the might of my mortal enemy.
Man. MAN! This game! _________________

^ Nicely done! I think I'll let you keep the crown for a while. I've been neglecting my reading, so I've got a stack of magazines and books to read now.
Question though: How'd you level up the characters so fast? I'm lucky if I find one or two class/level tokens in a bloody long game like the above. _________________

I found that I tended to get them by managing to kill the timed specials (teleporter, explodey, gold, and skill eater (worst)), mostly - although that may simply be coincidence. Certainly seemed to get all my Raider level 4-10 drops from them, though.
A guy I work with got somewhere in the order of 40K, my goal is to beat that... although I'm unsure how much better than this I'll get. That last run saw me with 2x extra experience from skulls relatively early on in the piece, thanks to lucky drops - I was levelling like a mad thing. _________________

Ghost Trick like on the DS is now on the App Store.
It seems the first two chapters are free, with the third ending chapter priced at $10.50. _________________

Reckless Racing 2 is out and looks mighty impressive! What isn't impressive is the price tag. I'll definitely wait until it goes down in price.
iTunes Link
A game I can't recommend enough is Mad Chef ! You'll notice it is a surprisingly deep title as you play on. It's one of those, 'just one more round' kinds of absolute gems on the Appstore. Do yourself a favour!

Anybody here played The Secret of Grisly Manor?
It's free for Iphone and Ipad, kind of reminds me of Myst/The Island of Dr Brain, a mystery involving the disappearance of a man set in a house which has various puzzles for you to solve to help locate his whereabouts, you can tap the screen to move around the house, and pickup and view items. I've played it for about an hour and I'm stuck, just wondering if anybody else out there has completed it, I'm after some help, can't bring myself to search online for a solution.
Definitely worth checking out for a bit of a timewaster if you've never heard of it. Definitely makes you think a bit.

So after playing the first two chapters, I took the plunge and bought all of Ghost Trick.
I have to say the animation of this game is freaking beautiful. _________________

If you want to experience one of the greatest shooting games ever made, then get it.
Then get all the other Cave awesomeness that's on the App Store. _________________ Twitter | XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: stormo | GameCentre/Steam: StorminNorman

...Or just download the original classics that game is ripping off.
In related news, Dariusburst is now on the App Store as well. I haven't bought it because I'm not a huge Darius fan, but some people might be interested. _________________ Twitter | XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: stormo | GameCentre/Steam: StorminNorman

I'd rather not support developers who make money by blatantly ripping off other games. _________________ Twitter | XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: stormo | GameCentre/Steam: StorminNorman

Agreed. I had no idea Vlambeer got ripped off and after I found out, I purged my iDevice free of Ninja Fishing.
The same has happened with Zynga hijacking Tiny Tower and putting their own spin on it. Quite pathetic to be honest, but if the word doesn't get out there, then how can consumers tell?

Personally I don't care if you see it as a rip off or not. I don't have any personal or financial interest invested in this game.
All I did was recommend a game which I thought was pretty good after reading about it on Famitsu a while back. I only mentioned it now cause you brought up shooters.
Here's the original recommendation from the editor of Famitsu, for those interested.

Okay. Three words for you all: Beat. Hazard. ULTRA!
Ever wanted to know how your iTunes music collection would affect the tempo of a shoot 'em up? You'll know now.
Excerpt from Kotaku:
"Until now your iTunes music library has remained passive, patiently waiting for you to allow it to waft delicately to your eardrums. With the release of the iOS version of Beat Hazard Ultra your music is now a deadly predator, lurking in your playlist, awaiting the call to be transformed into explosive levels of eye-melting twin stick shooter action."
Couldn't have said it myself. This is polished awesomeness and remains the Jaws iOS pick of the week. Right up there with League of Evil 2.

HNNNNGH.
Beat Hazard on my iPhone oh god what is this I don't even.
I actually can't imagine it working well, but I'm damned well willing to find out.
Also, I haven't been able to get in to LoE 2. It looked like something I'd like, but it... well, it just doesn't feel right. Meatboy made me rage, but it didn't feel like I was fighting the game, simply my own reflexes... LoE 2 doesn't give me the same satisfaction. Should I stick it out?
Edit: Sweet merciful crap Beat Hazard On My Phone. This is fucking amazing. _________________

Karai, I think from a technical standpoint, League of Evil stands as one of the most responsive touch controls I have ever utilised. Give it time and you'll improve.
Yes. Beat Hazard Ultra on iOS must be seen to be believed!
