Any good? I grabbed the demo for it and it seemed kind of lame compared to the first so I've stayed away from it.

I don't think it is as good, it got a bit boring by the end of the first level, but I suck at this type of game so I don't like killing 500 dudes, dying and having to do it again

I think it has the best battle system and Blitzball is one of the greatest side mission's period.I must spent around 150-200 hours on it alone.

Final Fantasy 7 (and I'm not trolling!).

Here's my history, finished or near finished 3,4,8,10,10-2,13, played 11 but I think the fact that fans of 7 make it look like the story is epic from start to finish and failed to tell me I actually had to wait for the story to pick up. I have just finished 10-2 and then try and play 7, got bored and pick up 4. It start from average (start) to interesting to average (got Cait Sith and stopped).

Crap, that just reminded me to go FF shopping on the PSN (hope the sale is still on, *fingers crossed*. Sony, please make it so I can buy games on my browser!).

man the big problem I had with blitzball is wow man... way to play it at inappropriate times. There should have been some areas were it was disabled. Like after Sin fucks up the Al-Bhed camp and you're walking through the ruins with dead and dying people everywhere, come upon a save point
"OOOH BLITZBALL TIME!"

The first Blitzball match was the precise point I turned the game off and threw it across the room. I had to sit through seven hours of cutscenes and an hour of random battles for that?

It... helps keep morale up? Distracts people from the horrors around them?

I... got nothing.

No shame in that, they always seemed like games that were better in idea then execution.

I don't know about the multiplayer of Halo games and never played Halo 3 or Reach, but Halo 1 and 2 were both mediocre in the singleplayer department.

Halo 1 I hardly remember now, except for the fact that I didn't like it. but Halo 2 I remember I couldn't finish because of the boring alien weapons, horrible gameplay decision with the "flood" creatures, pathetic teammate AI, failure to keep me on track during scripted sequences, and that vehicle that handled badly (why am I steering with the mouse?)

the custom game types in the multiplayer in Halo 3 are the only thing I've ever liked on Halo, rocket racing is rad arse.

Hell yeah, Rocket Racing was fucking awesome. That was one of the only things I really had fun with in MP.

I loved FFX' battle system too. I'm not a fan of the active-time battles (ATB) because I love to sit back and try and plan everything about 5 turns ahead. However with the atb in FFXIII it forced me to react and 2/3rds the time just relentlessly assaulting the enemy was good enough.

For some reason though I liked the atb system in Eternal Sonata, one thing I did not like though was how it felt like you were getting more and more restricted every time your party leveled up. It was still shit loads of fun though, especially coupled with the music tune;

I might as well add my two cents and many might be surprised but, I didn't like Halo 2 either. The graphics were terrible with so many pop-ups and multiplayer was broken.

Arbiter > Master Chief

I don't even remember enjoying Halo 2, just that I thought the Arbiter was fucking awesome.

Round 2

FIGHT!

Pokemon Diamond

I should probably stop picking on the JRPG genre. As much as their character designs rarely interest me I enjoy a good experience and I can never say enough good things about Final Fantasy IX or Persona 4 (to name a few).

Anywho, let me cut to the chase before admeister cuts me to ribbons.

Diamond is the weakest entry in the Pokemon series. The new additions sucked, the gameplay and story felt incredibly recycled but those complaints don't compare to it's biggest issue.

IT IS SO SLOW!

Compared to Ruby, this game plays at a snails pace and it practically feels like the game is running on slow mo when you watch the health slowly deplete after each attack.

I am so glad they got their act together with Black as the series was certainly on a slippery slope with Diamond.

Up next: Donkey Kong 64.

We're coming for you! Sucka!

TES:Oblivion

Boring, repetitive game. No sense of realism, mindless slashing combat. Dull story. Dull side-quests. The only thing I that is going for it imo is the customization and free reign to do what you like, but the execution is lacking. Skyrim was better, although I still couldn't bring myself to finishing it. It just sort of fades after a while, and now I find myself having spent maybe 150 hours on TES games from Morrowind through to Skyrim, without having finished one yet, and only having finished one of the guild's storylines in Skyrim.

Darksiders

This is an incredibly ugly game. Combat is boring and unoriginal, story is pretty dull. Everything about it just feels recycled.

oh a round 2?

Since Spacebreak brought it up
Eternal Sonata
Oh my god... this game is awful. I hate, without fail every character in the game Polka is the worst fucking female lead in any game ever. I wanted to punch her in the face every time she opened her god damm mouth.

"I'm Sorry" NO YOU'RE NOT YOU JUST THREW A METEOR AT HIM! You're either an idiot or a liar!

But the worst thing, the absolute worst thing about this game, is that Chopin had a fucking fascinating life, hell just listen to the stories it tells you set to his compositions during the game. That's a damm interesting story. But instead they gave Allagreto explaining the complexities of tax on bread to Beat who... by the way, NEEDS TO FUCKING DIE.

I mean this is a guy that as a teenager was already considered a master of his art that wrote songs about when he banged hot singers and wrote profanity laden letters when the November Uprising failed, turned into the most boringly generic anime clichés. It's one thing when a JRPG writes a boring cliche ridden character. But he was a real dude who had a real life that was really fucking interesting Read anything about his life and he definitely isn't this upper class gentlemen that's depicted in the game. He's the kind of guy that titled his will
Quote:
a kind of disposition to be made of my stuff in the future, if I should drop dead somewhere.

Add to that it's a game about Frederic Chopin, why not... fuck I don't know use his music for the game. The only bits of his music you hear are in those photo montages. It seems like such a fucking waste.
Honestly I think the biggest argument for the pointless animefication of Chopin is

This is what Chopin looked like

This is what he looked like in the game

See that staff, it's a conductors baton. Chopin wasn't even a conductor, he was a pianist?

But uh, I guess it's pretty so it has that going for it? And the battle system was kind of neat.

Why is he wearing a double-coat-corset hybrid coat thing over a shirt-skirt hybrid over flair pants?

I will never ever understand character design like this. It's like instead of thinking of interesting and elegant looking clothing, you just decide to mix genders, throw lots of cloths in a blender and see what comes out.

Because we're in anime country now. Clothing doesn't need to make sense anymore.

I once heard a quote from someone in a japanese charcter design area (I think from memory it was square?) basically "We don't design costumes for being sensible, we design them for people to cosplay as"

Eternal Sonata; I highly recommend that depressed people or those in a drug induced state DO NOT play that game. I did enjoy it though.
