I don't know more than half the songs/bands on that list, but I usually download it and find some good new songs/bands. Annoyed that only 1 Radiohead song is on the list and it's not even in the top 50. _________________

haha you guys are old. Brother is fucking amazing, I didn't expect it to get so high but I'm glad it did, also loved Video Games so glad that got in the top 10.
Gotye was always going to take it home, wasn't really that big a fan of the song though. _________________

I kinda realised a few years back that Triple J these days is like the "I can't believe it's not butter" of pop music.
Mind you, I'm far from keeping up with alternative music these days, but it really hit home the other year when nothing from My Morning Jacket nor The Flaming Lips made the top 100.
That new Black Keys album is pretty much how I wanted the next Queens of the Stone Age album to be though. _________________

I listen to JJJ in the car, if the wife hasn't insisted on plugging her iPod in. I don't know the names of any songs, but I might recognise some of the music.
At home it's usually game music _________________

I've never been a radio listener. If you know what kind of music you like to listen to, you never need to listen to the radio. Isn't that how it goes? Unless of course you like the kind of music that is played on the radio. Vicious cycle.
Hottest 100 is 100% not my thing. I'm either out of touch with most Aussies, or, as I like to see it, most Aussies are out of touch with ME!
Side note: Back in my day, the kids listened to The KLF and their anti-illuminati ways. Nowadays it's all pro-illuminati artificial creations such as Lana Del Rey. _________________

Yeah, look at the discog... more name changes than, like, someone who changes their name a lot.
The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu: 1987 (What the Fuck Is Going On?) (The Sound of Mu(sic), 1987)
The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu: Who Killed The JAMs? (KLF Communications, 1988)
The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu/The KLF/The Timelords: Shag Times (KLF Communications, 1988)
The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu/The KLF/The Timelords: The History of The JAMs a.k.a. The Timelords (TVT Records, 1989)
The KLF/Various Artists: The "What Time Is Love?" Story (KLF Communications, 1989)
The KLF: Chill Out (KLF Communications, 1990)
Space: Space (KLF Communications, 1990)
The KLF: The White Room (KLF Communications, 1991)
Yeah I've heard some Die Antwoooooord. Horrible stuff. Though I saw a short film thing with them in it and that was nice and trippy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMVNjMF1Suo _________________

sorry, was it wrong of me to assume that people posting in the jjj hottest 100 thread would you know... have atleast a passing interest in JJJ and the music they play?
Kind of like I assume that the wrestling thread isn't full of people going "Gee I don't know anything about wrestling cause I never watch it" and I assume cause I never go into the thread because it's clearly a thread about wrestling that I have no interest in. _________________

@theory yeah i like em, it is satire...it's more a commentary on the whole bogan, chav, zef thing...they are more performance artists, and i quite dig the point of it, if not the music.
this is them at home with their kid

Yeah lots. Just not trip J... well not since I turned 20 anyway.
Basically here is my thoughts on the H100. In 2008 the greatest australian band of all time, AC/DC, released their first album in 8 years. And lo and behold... it's pretty good. Nowhere near their best work, but still pretty good. Goes no 1 in about 30 countries, wins ARIA, wins Grammy, precipitates hugely sucessfull world wide tour. Everyone is impressed that the old cunts can still rock. Accolades and praise come from all corners.
In 2008 the winner of the h100 is kings of fucking leon. In fact, accadacca do not feature at all in the top 10. Ok... fair enough they arn't exactly pioneering a new sound, I spose Black Ice isn't quite Back in Black either. So where do they come in? And which track will it be? Rock 'n Roll Train or War Machine, both were grammy nominated. Both seem worthy to grace a national poll of good music to be released in 2008, especially compared to KOFL.
To answer the first question they don't appear at no 11. They don't appear in the top 20..... or indeed the top 50.... actually they didn't make the hottest 100 at all. Zip. Nothing. Sans ACDC.
The reason for this is obvious when you think about it. The h100 is not about the best music of the year. It is about how many dudebros have you song as a ringtone, and how many teenage girl have finger fucked themselves while looking at your album cover. _________________ Da Bessssss

You just know we have failed as a nation if 7% of the songs featured in the hottest 100 are dubstep, or borrow heavily from the dubstep genre.
Shame on you Australia.

Of course it's not, it's about how many people in a specific demographic like your music. And sorry as much as you love em AC/DC aren't really huge in the late teens to mid 20's crowd. _________________

I know about ten songs on the list. It reminds me I still need to pick up the black keys album, I've never gotten into them before but really like Lonely boy.
Also, is it just me, or are there only about 5 bands on the whole list? I mean, Foster the People, the Wombats and Gotye have a ridiculous number of entries each. I thought maybe Art vs Science would have more entries, but early year songs are always forgotten.

42. What the Water Gave Me - Florence + the Machine
...Is the only song on that list I've even heard.
(BTW new Florence record is pretty great.)
Also...
98. Niggas in Paris - Jay-Z & Kanye West
What the hell? When did Triple J turn into Fox FM? _________________ Twitter | XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: stormo | GameCentre/Steam: StorminNorman

How do you have the album and have not heard shake it out? Hell if you got the one with the bonus disc it's on the album twice?

I like making threads like these, they're just as predictable as the list themselves. You always get the older gen. boasting about how they haven't heard any of their songs like we're supposed to be impressed with their ignorance and then of course s**t gets real when the illuminati are referenced. This is PalGN.
Glad to see M83 & Lana Del Rey get some recognition. Do I care she gave herself a name change? Nope. It's like pitching a fit at David Bowie or Iggy Pop.
Apart from that, it's a very predictible list. It would have been interesting to have seen where Pumped Up Kicks would have finished had it not been rushed onto the 2011 list.
Oh and while everyone is complaining.
Only 1 Lykke Li song? Zero Fleet Foxes?
Awesome-o: Lame. _________________
