We should probably do something about that... perhaps in a room which serves beer. _________________ Da Bessssss

Also, I may be what is considered to be an 'outsider' these days with regards to this community but even so it still pains me to see it in the state it is in. While it would be easy to argue that I moved on (without actually advertising where), I always viewed PALGN as my Internet home and it is because of the community -- the staff, the posters, everyone -- that I feel this way. Things may be incredibly different now to what they were a few years ago, but that doesn't mean I don't have an attachment to this site and these forums.
In fact, I wish (and this will probably come across as egotistical or something -- it's not meant to) that I could sit here and promise a return and that would fix everything, both on the forums and the website itself, but that is just being unrealistic and besides, with or without me the current issues that this place is facing is part of a much bigger picture. But even so, the fact that such drama and controversy is happening right now -- regardless of whether people are behaving maturely or appropriately or not -- proves just why everyone is here: because this community is unlike anything else, old or current, and it is the people (rather than the actual forum or site itself) that make PALGN as a collective whole what it is. Even if it does die, none of us will lose that feeling or forget that sentiment, whether you're an active member now or, like me, you were a few years ago and for whatever reason moved on or stopped posting.
It may be a bit abrupt or perhaps even absurd to see me come in here, after years of silence, and post as if I never left or as if I know the extent of everything going on. I don't, obviously, but even so I think all of you can put aside your feelings on these current events and reflect 100% positively on your time here as part of the community. Remember that people -- no matter what happens, and no matter who it involves. If the place dies tomorrow or remains alive in whatever format, it is the people who keep it in our memories, nothing else. _________________

@Benno:
Makes me value the 6 or so months I wrote for PALGN even more.
Also, I miss Brendan and Luke
EDIT: Just read the mention of Luke - is that true?
2nd EDIT: I'm glad that comment I made about the Commonwealth Bank ad didn't fall on deaf ears.

I like these forums, and though not close to any of you (and therefore not really feeling part of a community) this is my forum "home" - but I am more concerned about the big picture.
PALGN as a site has done great things - The team-up with GAME for 18+ campaign to name one - and was to my mind THE Australian gaming banner site. Yes there are competitors, bur they appear to be mostly a place for a couple of editors to share their own interests rather than (what was) a place to represent the industry and fan base.
Moving to another forum due to displeasure with management is fine, but who is going to re-raise the banner?
EDIT:
Seems Everyone Plays was the owners focus for the website rather than presenting the local game news alternative to IGN etc as an ongoing endeavor? _________________

I have to thank the mods and PALGN staff for the professional way they handled the situation over the past year and a bit. Assuming the most important parts of this recount are true, I believe the PALGN community already knew what was happening, but I think they just wanted a staff member to confirm it in a very blunt fashion.
It is depressing that this site should degenerate into god knows what now. I absolutely adored the Easter Egg hunts that the site used to have and I still remember the big site overhaul and whatnot. I've traded a few times in the GE forum and it was an absolute godsend compared to eBay, Overclockers and over such sites.
A lot of the community don't have anywhere else to go in regards to Aus gaming news. Kotaku seems to be the premier site to go to (from talking to people currently in the games industry, studying at Qantm/AIE,etc) but the community is a little bit of a cesspool. However, the amount of content they post is wonderful. Ausgamers has been dead for a long time, and is primarly a PC site, full of elitist PC wingnuts.
Right now, the only threads generating any sort of discussion are the Funny Links/What Made you Smile/Angry. None of the other subcategories have anything worthwhile checking out because simply there isn't any users talking about such and such.

Yes, that in fact was what was sent to me. That exact site.
I didn't want to post it however, due to the fact that it was private conversations, but now it's out of my control.
EDIT - Also, apologies to those who PMd me asking to read it. I just didn't feel it was right for that kind of thing to be spread around. Guess that doesn't matter any more now _________________
